Question:

I removed Tidy Plates, and the Threat Plates skin, and replaced them with DocsNameplates, because I think the names above the heads are beautifully designed and suit this UI best. However, I don't like how they display health.

Do you know how to combine both Tidy Plates and Threat Plates skin, basically using those, with DocsNameplates, and not having to see the ugly health display that DocsNameplates shows, when you need to see health above the enemies head?

That would be cool to do that, because then we could have the gorgeous look of the names above the heads, but also have the awesome Threat Plates skin for health at the same time. I mostly just would want DocsNameplates to show the names above non-enemy heads if we can't have it show on both, and still have Tidy Plates show up.

Also I know before you were talking about once about replacing SBF with something. I found an addon on here called Raven, which basically does what SBF does, and more. I would recommend switching to it, especially since SBF is no longer going to be updated.

Not even going to start with trying to combine multiple nameplate addons. Recipe for mess. Best to see if you can configure DocsNameplates the way you want them to look.

As for Raven, I checked it out a month or so ago, and it lacked quite a few key options, one of them being the ability to adjust the spacing between buff icons. If this has changed and it's got a lot more options since then, I'll check it out again.

Don't know yet. Will have to take a look at all options.

If TidyPlates' debuff watcher is adequate, then probably that. But, I don't play a DoT class, so it'll be hard to figure out what to use by myself

With most heavy dot classes (priests and warlocks) we need something more heavy then dot trackers. we need something like Fortexorcist so we can time when to recast apply etc. Is there any chance you could skin forte exorcist?

Hmm, I'm aiming away from such addons that are largely customizable and very specific for certain classes, for now at any rate. Those who wish to use them, know about them and will have a certain configuration they're most comfortable with.

RealUI's more of a 'base', than an absolute complete package that will handle everyone's possible desires. Trying to leave room for very specific, class centric addons to be left up to the end user to decide what and how they use it.

I used wowhead for those.
Another thing which just came to my mind for mages: It'd be nice to have spellstealable buffs marked in some way. Perhaps put some glow around them or somthing like that.

Some things, like the SFB frames, are reset by RealUI. Go click the gear in the lower left and tell it to stop it, see if that fixes your problem.

As far as using ForteXorcist because it's a "specialized" addon, I know quite a few people that use it ONLY for the cooldown bar that it has. Since it's a modularized addon, RealUI could just use that feature of it.

I've considered using that cooldown bar myself, but I find ForteXorcist as a whole far to over complicated to setup.

You should be able to make most things bigger by using the default in game UI scale system.

What is your resolution?

By funny coincidence, the cooldown bar had been made into a standalone addon, and that addon used to be part of RealUI. I think Nib dropped it because ghost pulse, visible action bars, and SBF covered everything but ICDs. I find the biggest problem with the short-term buffs bar is that there's all the crap like hots and replenishment in there. Take half an hour, add every buff that you don't NEED to know about to the blacklist, and suddenly it's way more useful. At least for me, five random buffs and one important one tends to make me ignore the whole row. When I cut the list to only things that change my DPS choices, it gets more attention.

Yep Just go to Esc > Video options > Advanced.

Or, for best results, enter this into your chat window:

Code:
/script SetCVar("UIScale", "0.78")
That'll set the UI to the largest scale the won't cause anything to go off the screen.

I've built a nice UI Scale button for 0.6.7 that should make changing the UI Scale much quicker and easier, while allowing you to set it to 5 times more accurately then the in-game slider.

Well, my warrior buddy that plays Prot and Fury hasn't gotten back to me yet, so I'll just take a stab at the things I think should be tracked for each spec.

Self-Buffs:
  • Arms
    • Lambs to the Slaughter
    • Wrecking Crew
    • Taste for Blood
  • Fury
    • Bloodsurge
    • Meat Cleaver
  • Prot
    • Impending Victory
    • Sword and Board
  • All Specs
    • If possible, track "Enrage" effects. (See note below.)

I'm not sure if Enrage effects would be trackable, but the Enraged Regeneration (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=55694) abilitity can only be used while enraged. We have a spell, Berserker Rage (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=18499) that can trigger an enrage effect. I believe we also gain an Enrage effect when a critical strike is dealt to us.

Debuffs:
  • Rend
  • Hamstring
  • Sunder Armor

You could also track Demoralizing Shout and Thunderclap, but I really couldn't tell you how important those are to track (and tracking 5 abilities would be quite a lot...).

Hamstring is only important to track for PvP, but it is critical to keep it on your enemy all the time. And, well, PvP is the only thing I do on my warrior, so it's really important to me.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll be sure to update if my buddy gets back to me. Thanks Nib!
