Hey guys, if you need the loot.lua file because you're too lazy :-P just pm me.

As for keeping your settings when you update to a new version, here's my complicated process:
1. Keep a list of what addons you make changes to that you would like to keep (physical or mental, it doesn't matter).

2. Open the new RealUI version folder and your WoW installation folder side-by-side.

3. Now here's where it might get tricky. Firstly, go into both savedvariables folders and compare. Using the new RealUI folder as a guide, highlight all of the files in the current installation with the same name (including the .bak files) and delete them, taking care to skip over the files you want to keep the settings for. This is to ensure that your installs are actually fresh. Now copy all of the files from the new RealUI folder to your current install.

4. Next you want to repeat the process using the interface and addons folders, again using the new RealUI folder as a guide to highlight the same-named files and delete.

And that's pretty much it. It does take a little getting used to but once you have it down the process shouldn't take too long. Deleting instead of replacing usually works better and doesn't lead to addons doing strange things in-game.

I hope this helps somebody and if you need any further explanation, pm me.

Player Unit Frame

I just started playing again after a year off. I've been using RealUI for years and love it over any other UI. I do have a question, though.

In previous versions, when I last played and used this UI, I believe Pitbull unit frames were used for some time. With that I was able to set the combat fader for player frames to 0% when out of combat, making them disappear unless I target someone, was hurt, or entered combat. I see I can do the same, but I can't set the player frame to be click-through like in the past, making that specified area where the player frame is open to click around in.

Is there any way to change that, or anyone who knows how to code it in the oUF lua, that can direct me through it? As I understand there is no in-game oUF editing, if I'm correct.

As an end note: I would like to sincerely thank Nibelheim and Gethe for all their dedication and hard work throughout the years. It's greatly appreciated.

Unit frames messed?

The regular real ui unit frames of which I love so much, seem to be broken for me :/ any suggestions? Maybe a second clean install? Instead of the regular realui frames, I seem to get these frames on the top left hand corner of my screen. My buffs are oddly placed as well. The buffs seem to be located on the far left hand side of my screen as well, though directly in the middle. Help!

Gloks,

I can only begin to guess how the UI ended up that way. Try to reinstall and be sure to follow the readme.

bar moving

Hey so while playing around with the controls I stumbled onto an option that allowed me to move the action bars around to better positions except I have no idea how I got there and I cannot for the life of me retrace my step back to find that option.
If someone could point me in the right direction for it that'll be great!

thanks!

Thanks Gethe and Don....I just wrote back into the new WTF all the lua files for the non realui addons.
Works like a dream.
And Don...commenting out the "print" messages also worked well...thanks

Now...if only my fat fingers would learn playing as a frost mage I might actually get to enjoy the UI...

CompactRaidFrame taint is something Nib and I have spent countless hours tracking down in the past. It's a nasty, nasty thing to try and find the true cause. The only way to narrow it down is to disable all addons, and re-add them one-by-one until you start getting the error.

The first one you posted is a new one to me. I haven't seen ArkInventory cause taint before... however, as you'll notice in the error, it also references FrameMover, which is a module Nib wrote. ArkInventory is likely NOT the cause of the taint but rather something else further along in the chain.

Honestly, there really isn't much that can be done here without a detailed analysis.

Edit: Even if you follow my guidelines for narrowing down the culprit, you may still not have found the cause. Just because enabling one addon got the taint to return, doesn't mean that addon alone is the culprit. It could just as well be a combination of that addon plus some other addon you've already enabled.

Like I said, nasty stuff.

Two Questions

1) Is it just me? Every time install a new version or RealUI I've got to go into each addon and select the right profile. It is always on "default". Is this normal?

2) In my case I have a custom bartender (2 bars on the side that I can always see). I don't wish to overwrite the bartender.lua in my saved variables every time there is a new deployed version of realui. But our current method of deployment, the lua files all have the same date!? How can I know which files are "really" updated and thus I'll need to overwrite the bartender.lua? (wouldn't it be useful to leave the file dates alone such that if they are really "touched" they reflect that date?)

Thanks.
