There is a more complete answer a few pages back, but the short answer is to simply back up your existing WTF and Interface folders, install RealUI, and then copy back the other addons (and their Saved Variables files from the backed-up WTF folder).

I just installed this fresh for the first time today. I really like what I'm seeing, but what I'm not seeing are my action bars! They just don't show up at all, even when I'm trying to drag my abilities over to where I think they should be. (Based on screenshots, of course.) Am I missing something simple here? I followed the installation instructions to the letter (I even moved my WoW install location) but obviously without action bars I won't be able to use this UI for long! What do I need to do?

Action bars are hidden outside of combat, unless in a party or raid. To view them at any other time, hold down the Ctrl key.

I have been able to scale up everything so its all readable now, but the oUF frames are untouchable. Please help me scale them up so I can read them! I am on a 2560x1440 monitor and I want to enjoy the UI again.
In addition to my question above, I would greatly like to know how to hide the buff and debuff icons on the top right of the screen.

Last time I did an update, all my addon settings were removed and I had to uninstall and reinstall all my addons that weren't part of RealUI in order to get them to work properly.

Any way to avoid this? I love the unit frames and how IceHUD is set up, but I have finely tuned nearly everything else on the UI to fit my playstyle perfectly and my heart sinks when I think about having to spend so much time tweaking it all over again.

I would postpone updating, but I've been getting a bug where I am unable to click on/interact with random targets/objects and I'm assuming it's because I haven't updated RealUI yet.

Thanks again Nib (and Gethe) for your help and for keeping this UI going - it's much appreciated!!
Delete only the RealUI addons in your addons folder and then reinstall. When installing the savedvariables, only overwrite the ones you don't mind losing. Unless there's a major change to the way the included addons function you shouldn't have to overwrite your savedvariables at all. I never overwrite arkinventory or clique. I'd include Grid but I don't customize it.

If you've made any changes to the addons lua files then take notes so you can do it again on a fresh install. The thing with doing a clean install is it ensures there isn't an accident/glitch and something that should be overwritten somehow doesn't.

If you open your addons folder (so you see the list of all your addons) and do likewise in the RealUI folder you can copy the addons over, overwrite, they should remain highlighted, delete them, then copy them over again. That way you only delete addons from RealUI and not your own separate addons by mistake.

As already mentioned the action bars are hidden, and only show when in combat, in a group, or if you hold the ctrl key. You can disable this if you want by typing /bt4 and going into the individual bar options for visibility and erasing the custom conditionals.

Any way to turn the transparency off for quests and auction house. I just don't like it being so transparent. Other than that, great job!

As stated before you can go into your addons folder and delete only the realUI stuff but the easiest way i found to do it was just to move all of your non-RealUI addons into a backup folder, delete entire interface and do clean install then move your addons back into the addons folder. hope this helps

Pet frames in the HUD

Ok, Ive been trying to figure this out for a week now and I am to the point of pulling hair out (and I don't need to cause there aint that much left)...but I know at one point there was a way to put up my pet's health bar up under my own. As it is now, the only way I can see it when fighting is to make my pet a focus target, which while easy to do, gets a little irritating having to keep doing it if it dies or something.

Please tell me that I am just overlooking something really simple or something else....

As it is now, your pet's Health and Resource appear as transparent bars on our own. I know that sounds ridiculous, but let me explain. The bars are just thin lines at the edge of your own Health and Resource bars, and don't show normally. They begin to appear as white lines when your pet loses either Health (from taking damage) or Resource (by using abilities).

Just to the right of your Health and Resource bars is a small rectangular box. It will be colored with your class color if your pet is out and serves as a right-clickable frame for your pet.

Turning transparency Off

Any way to turn the transparency off for the character screen (the one you bring up with C) and the AH in general?, the UI is great, but the transparency makes my eyes hurt.

Thanks for your answer

Ok...never noticed that at all. Is there any way to fiddle with the settings in whatever module that is located in so I can maybe modify it to stand out more? Looking for a line of floss on my screen in combat isn't exactly conducive towards beating a boss.
