gTip
Version: 1.271
by: Goldpaw [More]
What is this?
  • Yet another tooltip addon. It is dependent on gMedia which must be downloaded separately!

What does it do?
  • Reskin the game tooltips
  • Moves the tooltip healthbars inside the frame
  • Colors character names by class
  • Colors unit names by faction standing
  • Colors pet names by happiness
  • Colors unit level by quest difficulty (makes stuff 10 levels above you red, etc etc)
  • Allows you to choose between anchoring all tooltips to the curser, only unit tooltips, or none at all
  • Can hide the tooltips when engaged in combat

How can I configure it?
  • /gtip

It's not working!

What is the name of the UI and Addons in your screenshots?
  • gUI
1.271
- Fixed the same nil error regarding "color" as I fixed in 1.24. For some reason.... it had been reverted...?...?

1.27
- Now uses the global SHOW_TOOLTIPS_IN_COMBAT to set tooltip visibility for other gMods as well
- Healthbars are now positioned beneath the tooltip

1.26
- Tooltips are now by default shown while in combat. Users which had a previous version of gTip needs to update this setting themselves.

1.24
- Fixed a nil error regarding the "color" value in line 133 that would sometimes occur at startup

1.23
- Now has a minimum width for the unit tooltips
- Hides the health value text on units with 0 health

1.221
- gLib 2.41

1.22
- Now uses gLib 2.4
- Now has the option to display values on the health bars

1.21
- Now has the option to show titles
- Now has the option to show crossrealm server names
- Bottomright position now changes based on number of visible actionbars

1.2
- Icons for itemtooltips
- Class color on names
- Difficulty color on levels
- Now shows target of target, with a red ">> YOU <<" if you're the target
- Added the option to anchor unit tooltips to the cursor, but not other tooltips
- Now also skins dropdown lists, dropdown menus, chat menus and the title picker frame
- Now uses gMedia2 and gLib2
- Now embeds gLib2
- Now uses gLibs localization handler

1.1
- gTip now has an Interface Options menu
- The option to re-anchor the tooltip to the default position has been added. Will be above the Loot-frame if gUI is loaded.
- The option to hide tooltips while being engaged in combat has been added

1.03
- Unregisters events when no longer needed

1.02
- Rescales itself to retain perfect borders according to UIscale

1.01
- Added some brackets to a true/false check

Any chance of adding an option to disable the cursor tooltips when your hovering over ui elements?.. as in allow the tooltip to hover in the corner instead of your mouse

Directly inspired by the layouts of TukUI, yes. (And Dysphoria. A hunter famous for soloing stuff.) Many of the styles and mini-addons are redone from scratch, though. I was using TukUI for a very long period myself, but finally I started making my own, instead of just doing endless tweaks to Tukz' code.

The unitframes are based on the oUF framework, and the style is custom made for gUI.

I'll upload my oUF unitframe styles at some point, but there is no simple guide on how to achieve those frames yourself. In oUF, all is done in .lua, no options menus. Pitbull Unitframes can be configured to look the same, though. For people not familiar with the LUA scripting language, that wish to make their own unitframe styles, Pitbull is just awesome!
