PhanxBuffs  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 5.4.1.136
by: Phanx [More]
Basic replacement for the default buff, debuff, and temporary enchant (weapon buff) frames.

It looks and acts basically like the default buff frames, with a few improvements:
  • Buff and debuff icons are sorted by their remaining duration
  • Text timers are shown only when less than 30 seconds remain on the buff or debuff (configurable)
  • Weapon buff icons can show the spell or item that buffed your weapon, instead of the weapon itself
  • Buff tooltips show the name of the party or raid member who cast the buff on you
  • Buffs or debuffs you never want to see can be hidden (eg. Chill of the Throne)
  • Wrap icons to more than one row, with configurable row lengths
  • Buff and debuff frames are movable
  • Basic configuration options
  • Masque skinning support
Options & Commands

Type “/pbuff” for options, or browse to the PhanxBuffs panel in the standard Interface Options window.

Add a buff/debuff to the ignore list with Alt+Shift+Right Click on its icon.

Add/remove a buff/debuff to/from the ignore list by typing “/pbuff buff Zomg Uber Buff” or “/pbuff debuff Zomg Evil Debuff”. Buff/debuff names provided with these commands must be properly spelled, capitalized, and punctuated.

Cancelling Buffs

Due to restrictions Blizzard added in Patch 4.0.1, you cannot right-click to cancel buffs while in combat when using addons that filter or sort the buff display. PhanxBuffs includes a workaround that lets you right-click to cancel buffs out of combat, but you must click twice to remove certain “protected” buffs like shapeshift forms and weapon buffs. By default, PhanxBuffs applies this two-click cancelling method to all buffs to keep things consistent, but if you like, you can enable one-click cancelling for unprotected buffs in the options panel.

When you right-click once, a red square will appear over the buff icon. Right-click again to cancel the buff, or left-click to keep it and hide the red square. You can also right-click on debuffs your character can dispel to cast the appropriate dispel spell on yourself, but as with cancelling buffs, this feature only works out of combat.

If you find yourself needing to cancel buffs quickly while in combat, check out my other addon Cancel My Buffs for a keybind-based solution.

Feature Requests

I consider PhanxBuffs to be complete, and do not plan to add any new features. If you would like to suggest something anyway, feel free to submit a suggestion ticket describing your idea.

Please do not submit any requests related to the timer text duration. I have no plans to change the timer text format, or increase the duration of time for which it is shown. If you don't like it, edit the code yourself, or use another addon.

Bug Reports

If you encounter a problem with PhanxBuffs, please try some quick troubleshooting steps, and then submit a bug report to let me know about the problem.

Please copy this list into your ticket and fill in as much of the requested information as you can.
  • PhanxBuffs version (eg. 3.3.5.71)
  • WoW version and locale (as seen on the login screen, eg. 3.3.5 enUS)
  • Description of the problem
  • Steps to reproduce the problem
  • Whether the problem happens when all other addons are disabled
  • Exact text of the first related error message, if any
Please do not include any lists of local variables or installed addons that your error display may add!
  • Screenshot, if the problem is graphical
Remember to check on your ticket after a few days, as I may need more information from you in order to find and fix the problem!

Language Support

If you don’t have a Curse account and don’t want to create one, you can PM me your translations instead. Thanks!

New Release:

3.3.3.20-beta should resolve the issues with item-based weapon buffs, and adds support for ButtonFacade.

Notes:

1. ButtonFacade support is only activated if you have revision 311 or higher of ButtonFacade. Earlier versions do not support anonymous button objects, such as those used by PhanxBuffs. There is not yet an official release version of ButtonFacade that works with PhanxBuffs, but you can grab a development version on ButtonFacade's WowAce project page.

2. If you have Macaroon installed, the Blizzard skin in ButtonFacade does not display correctly. This is Macaroon’s fault, as it overwrites the Blizzard skin defined by ButtonFacade itself with its own version, and its own version is broken. If you want to use the Blizzard skin for some reason, I posted a fix for the issue over on Macaroon's comment page. It took me forever to figure out why my ButtonFacade support didn't seem to be working correctly.

I'll probably have a new release ready later tonight. Just ironing out some wrinkles in the ButtonFacade support...

Also, I'm to the point where I'm ready for localization. If you play in a non-English client and can provide translations for about a dozen text strings for the options panel, send me a PM!

I also need translations for weapon buff source keywords (eg. for English, seeing "Earthliving" in the weapon tooltip matches the source spell "Earthliving Weapon"), though I could get those myself through Wowhead for most locales if the site would quit being down... Wowhead doesn't have data for Korean or either Chinese locale, though, so if you play in one of those and have access to a shaman, a rogue, and/or a warlock, I could use your help.

I've identified the issue with item-based weapon buffs (such as rogue poisons), and will push a new release soon to fix it.

Yes, it is the same name both Item and Temp Enchant.

Nothing happens when I check or uncheck the "Weapon buffs sources", even if I do a reloadui.

Edit: it also happens with only PhanxBuffs active so it's not a conflict with other addons

"Instant Poison IX" is both the full name of the item in your bag, and the exact wording of the text in the weapon tooltip after it's applied (excluding the time remaining)?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you uncheck the "Weapon buffs sources" option? It should just show the weapon icons and tooltips, like the default UI.

Deadly Poison IX Only showing as poison or empty icon, no weapon icon (Stygian Bladebreaker)

hope is enough info

@Azande:
The second image URL doesn't seem to work; it just redirects me to the ImageShack homepage.

The only problem I see in the first image is that it looks like your mainhand temp enchant's source isn't being detected. To fix that, I need to know:

- the full name of the item you right-clicked in your bag to enchant the weapon
- the full name of the temp enchant as it appears in the weapon tooltip

If the second screenshot was supposed to show a different problem, try re-uploading it somewhere else.

@Stereologic:
Thanks.

Hey Phanx, i've tried your addon but it looks like there is an issue with the Temp Enchants. I play a rogue and this is what I get, same instance the first as soon as I have put new poisons on my weapons, the second after a relog. Changing the options between showing poisons and weapons and reloading the ui didn't affect it.

Well, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use both this and SBF, though since both addons create and manage their own buff frames, you'll end up with two sets of buff frames on your screen. I'm also not sure why you mention the "who cast this buff on me" feature, as both addons do that...

question

Im just curious, will it work with SBF? or is that to much? I mean is it pointless to combine the 2? I like the feature of who the buff was cast from.

Yes. Open the appropriate Lua file in Notepad, and change the appropriate SetPoint call(s). If you don't know how to do that, wowwiki.com has a great API reference that may be of help.
