oUF lumen  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.0
by: neverg [More]
ouF_lumen requires oUF 1.6.

Before I used oUF and started writing my own layout and small addons, Pitbull, Grid and ClassTimer were a big part of the functionality of my UI. Since then I tried to cut down on the number of addons while trying to retain its functionality. oUF_lumen using the power of oUF tries to accomplish this by creating a customized set of unit frames tha replace Pitbull, Grid and ClassTimer while being light and functional.

If you're interested in my UI it's here.

This is a PERSONAL Layout. What this means is most of the functionalities will be implemented because I need them. I can eventually add oUF addon support or other features If I see utility in them, but I will never change the layout radically or add unnecessary features in my point of you just because.

Features

* It works (at least I hope so... ^^).
* Frames are focused on information and how quickly you can read it.
* ComboPoints colored by number (1 - White ... 5 - Red) and Stack of Deadly Poison number.
* Death Knight Runes that fade when out of combat
* Paladin Holy Power Number colored by stack.
* Warlock Shards as colored squares that fade if used.
* Moonkin Eclipse bar. Fades when out of combat.
* Minimal Grid Like Raid Frames specially good for Healing (err... like Grid).
* Threat Indication, Dispell Indication (for classes that can dispel) for Raid Frames.
* Integrated Class Timers like Spell Bars. (similar to ClassTimer).
* Raid Frames Corner Indicators specially good for Healing (similar to Grid CornerIcons).
* Fairly easy to reposition and tweak (config file with several options).
* Raid Layout customizable depending on the size of the Raid (10, 25 or 40).
* Raid/Party Important Debuff Icons (with oUF_AuraWatch).

Supported Frames

* Player
* Target
* Target of Target
* Focus
* Focus Target
* Pet
* Pet Target
* Vehicle
* Raid Frames
* Party Frames
* Party Pets
* Main Tank Frames
* Main Tank Target Frames
* Boss Frames * TBI *
* Arena Frames * TBI *

Suported Addons

* oUF_SpellRange (Recommended)
* oUF_Smooth Update (Recommended)
* oUF_MovableFrames
* oUF_Swing
* oUF_CombatFeedback
* oUF_BarFader
* oUF_Experience
* oUF_Reputation
* oUF_TotemBar
* oUF_AuraWatch
* oUF_DebuffHighlight

Credits

* haste for the great oUF and oUF_Lily as reference.
* Hypocrisy for oUF Hypocrisy and the inspiration in building my own oUF layout. It's the layout I used as a base for the first versions of oUF_lumen (v1.x was re-written from scratch).
* zork for oUF_Simple as a great source for help and code.
* Dawn for all the help in the forums and oUF_Nivea for source and inspiration.
* p3lim for the great ouF tips and oUF P3lim as reference.
* All the great people in the oUF and WoWInterface community always ready to help.

Known Issues

* Nothing major. Never tested localization since I play on the English Client.

Notes

* In order to edit the layout or move any element, you need to edit the configuration file (cfg.lua). I recommend you to backup your cfg.lua everytime you update oUF_lumen in order to save you time when updating whatever you have changed.

* If you want to replace the default texture. Just put a different texture on the Media folder with the name texture.tga to overwrite the default one.

Regarding oUF_Totem, it works well on the Cataclysm Beta with the same addon, I can't try on live as I dont have a shaman. But it worked fine for me. And the totem bar doesn't what? Show up?

EDIT - I found where the problem is. I'll fix it in the next Build.
Yeah I used to use MovableFrames but as I mentioned in an earlier post, it seems buggy, making me move raid, party, and pet frames one by one instead of moving the whole group. I figured it would be easier to just recode the reference points in the lua files instead, and it's working out much better. Re-using your code for target position compared to self makes it a lot simpler to balance the frames around the center of the screen.

The reason I'd want to move pet is I shift the rune/shard/holy power frames to down below my power bar, and I need to shift the pet frame about 3 pixels downward to fit them in there with a height of 4. It basically looks like a slightly older version of ouf_lumen, before you moved those frames in between self and target.

As for the totem bar, I just meant that there isn't one. The frame doesn't spawn at all. Hopefully that's the problem you found

And I'd highly recommend putting in pet_x and pet_y into the cfg.lua to make it easier to move the pet frame around. As it is it's a bit of a hunt trying to find the bit of code where the pet frame position is defined in ouf_lumen.lua

To be honest I started with that one instead of oUF_TotemBar, but what is the real advantage? In the end it does about the same thing and TotemBar is well documented. :] I don't play a Shaman so I'm asking, don't know it myself.

The nickname that I use regularly on the Internet is greven, but it was taken here, so neverg is greven backwards.

Lumen is just the name of the Layout, it's a name I like, it means Light in Latin, it's also the IS Unit for Light Density.

Kreoss is the name of my first char on WoW (a Rogue on Quel'Thalas). I've moved into another server now and started with another char, a Warrior... named Krap!

Anyway, glad you guys like the layout. I've started it after I found that Pitbull was too limiting for the stuff that I wanted to do. I started using oUF_Hypocrisy but I changed it so much that I decided to scrap it and start over my own layout. I didn't know anything about LUA but since I have some background in programming (C, C# and PHP) I went to read the manual and reverse engineer some layouts from (zork, p3lim, haste, Dawn and Hypocrisy) I grabbed the concept and started from there.

Anyway, it's cool more people think it's useful. It's still a WIP, still want to implement more stuff. Keep checking back for updates.

I am really enjoying the new UI and improvements. Keep up the good work Neverg, or is it Greven, or Lumen, or Kreoss?

Thanks for the Layout. Had to find something new for 4.01 and this won hands down.

On that note, I'm thinking of trying your lovely layout out and so before I do, I just wanted to see if there is some sort of lua config file where I can easily turn off raidframes/partyframes or castbars as I'm using specialized mods for all of these when I heal.
Yep, there is a config file with a lot of options, including turning several things off, party frames, raid frames, party pets, castbars, etc, etc.

Well I intended too you know, but I found out that is not reliable. The way Blizzard queues spells work way much better than looking at a lag indicator that is not instantly updated, is more of a mean taken from the netstats that anything else. So I thought I was doing a deservice by offering such thing! I've tested it and it's not reliable at all. Maybe addons like Quartz or something have a different way to do it, but the way oUF does that, I think it's better not to use it. But I can try to look into it again.
