BigBrother (Neb Edition)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 4.2.3
by: nebula [More]
Original (Ace2 version maintained by oscarucb): http://www.wowace.com/projects/big-brother/
Alpha files: http://www.wowace.com/addons/big-bro...ace3dev/files/

BigBrother watches over your group and has two main functions: checks and alerts.

Checks show you an overview of your group's consumable usage and raid buffs with the option to output missing buffs to chat. The buff window quickly shows who is missing what. Food buffs are tinted red if it does not give the highest stat value available. Raid buffs are dimmed/disabled when you don't have them and hidden if the group can't provide them.

You can also run a buff check to print out missing consumables and buffs from the buff window, config window, shift-clicking the minimap icon/broker object, or with the chat command /bb qc.

Alerts spam your chat frame so you know when people use specific abilities or items. This includes things like when someone breaks crowd control, is misdirected, interrupts, taunts, resurrects, dispels, or puts down items the group can click on. If you output to self, you can also shift-click on the "BigBrother" text to send the alert to chat.

Feel free to PM me an updated localization file. The enUS locale has all the localized strings I use in it.

4.1.0 (r311)

4.0.13 (r302)

- Updates CC break code (ripped out the crap I had to do to make it work nicely pre 5.0)
- Fixes truncating mob names in alerts
- Adds Reincarnation to combat res alerts and an option for non-combat resurrection alerts
- Adds using player links in alerts

4.0.12 (r293) MoP updates! Everything should be working with 5.1

- Adds default output for quick checks in settings (removes buff window specific setting)
- Fixes slash command typo

4.0.8 (r255)
- Alerts rewritten, should catch more cc breaking

- Changes alert outputs option layout (not sure how I want the channel dropdown to fit, yet)

4.0.7a (r248)
- Fixes battle res announce
- Use a single output for alerts (db changed, will default to self). I don't really see the point of having multiple outputs as it can get kind of spammy, however, if people were using them, I could revert this in favor of using a prefix and chat filters.

- Option for showing raid icons in alerts
- "BLAME" (whisper instead of list) output for consumable checks

- Right click on drag handle resets height to ten rows
- Resizing snaps to the bottom of the last visible row

don't know if this is intended, but there is no sub-folder for this, so if you use any sort of program to get your mods, this one has all the contents extracted directly into your addon folder - basically it doesn't work

realized that after noticing it wasnt working, then re-installed it and created a folder for it :]

Was it spells or consumables? The former are routed through the output settings, the latter end up in raid.

any chance of you adding features? I have a few requests and since the original hasn't seen an update in a year (well 2 days shy) I'm not sure what good it would do to ask over there

Feel free to make suggestions. I don't want to start feature creeping, but I'd play around with expanding on the core ideas of the addon, like adding more spell watching stuff or improving on the buff window/buff checking.

What I do not want to do is start duplicating functionality of addons like RaidBuffStatus or RaidyCheck which are similar but are much more comprehensive in what they can do.

I was (and still am) a big fan of the simplicity of BigBrother, which is why I continue to use it.

If you have check when ready checking enabled, it will only automatically report when you are the one starting the ready check. If that was your concern >.> lol.

In the old version addon, it automatically checks Flask, but the update does not work, this only works when I raid leader, and I spend a ready check

No output to chat channels when selected.

I'm not getting any output to the chat channels when I select them, I get output to self, but nothing is making it out through sendchatmessage. Strangely, I am not getting LUA errors either...

I've always known it was wonky, but never really investigated since I just use self. I'm pretty sure I know what's doing it and will release a proper fix soon.

Edit: Should be fixed in 4.0.6

Very nice to see this branched to use a modern framework.

Regarding the output, have you thought about "pouring" local output through LibSink-2.0? In addition to giving people more options, can also not worry on the dev end about creating/fixing custom end outputs, as the library handles it.

Edit: one other thing just noticed. The AddonLoader conditional in the TOC is listed as:
Code:
## X-LoadOn-Always: delay
It should be "delayed" for AddonLoader to recognize it.

The reason I didn't utilize LibSink is that it only lets you specify one output while BigBrother can use multiple outputs depending on what its doing. I did think about just using two sinks, but didn't like how the config would have turned out ;[

Nice catch with the AddonLoader support, I've never noticed that, lol
