OnlineOfficers is a simple addon, useful for knowing at a glance how many of your guild's officers are online.
You can right click the names of your officers from a small movable frame to conveniently shoot them a whisper.
To get started, just right click anywhere within the frame and pick 'Options'. Choose your guild's lowest officer rank, and you're good to go!
This is my first WoW addon, and admittedly it's very simple. I was inspired to create this because I had to sort and fiddle with my guild panel one too many times. Hopefully someone will find some use from this addon. I welcome any criticisms, improvements, and suggestions.
Known issues include:
- The list of officers isn't updated in real-time because of a 10-second cooldown Blizzard has imposed on the request for guild information. It should be updated the moment a guildie logs in, provided the list wasn't updated within the 10 seconds prior.
- The dropdown list for picking the lowest officer rank does not show a value within the button when you first log in. The addon recognizes the value is there, however. I don't know if this is my problem or a Blizzard UI glitch.
- When using the Whisper Officer feature, the chat bar where you type your message doesn't immediately show the recipient's name until you click on the bar. I think this problem may be related to Blizzard's recent overhaul of the chat windows with the RealID rollout.
Hi, is there any way to check for officers of another guild online, instead of your own? I remember a loooong time ago when inspecting a player, the guild rank was displayed, though it's been a while since I've seen this feature in the inspection box.
The usefulness is for helping guild-to-guild communication. For example, my guild leader is rarely on his top-ranked toon; old server pals don't know his officer alts to contact the guild's current officers.
As a suggestion, instead of having it in its own frame out in the open, perhaps tie it into Fubar or Titan panel, that way when it's not really in use, it's saving space
