SpartanUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 3.2.1
by: Azgaurd [More]
SpartanUI Is designed to free your screen by moving a majority of the interface elements to the bottom. It is the new look for World of Warcraft. Originally Created by Ansu of Dalaran (aka Atriace) it is now managed and maintained by Libidos of Azgalor. You can now join the project on facebook where i will be posting polls and asking other general questions about the direction of the addon.

Required Addons

Bartender4

Installation Note

Disable oUF if you have it installed, This is a addon library used for unit frames SpartanUI has this built in and having a version not compatible with SpartanUI will break things.

F.A.Q

Q. How do i Move my focus/party/raid?

A. As of 3.1 All frames are now movable by holding Alt and dragging no need to unlock or lock them with a command or button.

Q. I changed a option but nothing changed.

A. Some of the new options in 3.1 for Raid/Party Frames require a /reload to be done after changing them, no it will not always be like this but in order to get it out in time for MOP launch day some convenience had to be sacrificed.

Slash Commands

/sui (Shows options window)
/spin (Toggles Spin Cam)
/sui version (Shows which version of SpartanUI you are using)

Features
  • Uses very little third-party code in an effort to remain self-contained
  • Almost zero-setup allows you to install and use it without tons of configuration
  • Support for almost any screen resolution, while favoring widescreen
  • SpinCam - provides a spinning camera effect when AFK
  • FilmEffects - which provide film-like grain effects on your screen
  • Party frames designed to go with the look and style of your player frames
  • Designed to use very little processor time or memory
  • All original artwork with high-res textures and 1:1 ratio for 30" displays
  • Built in reputation and experience bars
  • Integrated coordinates and zone information
  • UnitFrames that fit in with the overall design
  • Profiles - with options being rewrote SpartanUI will now support profiles
  • Minimal slash commands
  • Raid frames with healer mode and DPS mode. One focuses on a quick overview while healer mode will draw attention to those low on health and larger frames than in dps mode
  • Focus Fame and focus Target have been redesigned and are movable
  • All frames are now movable by holding Alt and dragging.
3.1.2:
-Added Monk Chi bar

3.1.3:
Fix - Monk class icon not showing in party frames.
Fix - Monk Statue moved to the right of the CHI.
Fix - Party frames now properly update when someone was invited while in combat.
Fix - Party Frame not showing up after leaving battleground.
Fix - Moved the Extra Power bar (Petrification bar in MV) to the left so its aligned with the player frame to account some people having a issue in Shado-pan Monastery where the bar overlaps with the extra action button on the last boss. (Temporary Fix, Long term this will move only if it needs to)
Change - SpartanUI no longer hides blizzard buffs, blizz does not allow addons to turn off buffs without some lengthy work arounds.
Removed - Player buffs are no longer displayed on the player frame.
Fix - Misc bugs.

Yes there is a way to set a focus target.
"I cannot fix the focus issue. This is a Blizzard bug, and one that MANY unitframes,
not just SpartanUI have had an issue with. If you want to set or clear focus, I
suggest you either set a keybinding (there is one available, but not set by default)
or use the slash commands (/focus, /clearfocus)"

Currently in raid groups all the frames except group 1 are going in daft places and in rare cases scales. Most commonly is group 2 overlapping and slightly to the right of the last player in group 1 which makes it fun when you have to battle res them in a hurry.

Any suggestions for solving this problem would be appreciated.

You need to update bartender to fix this.

Skins

I've just taken a look at the files in SpartanUI and I can reskin it and also create custom skins. I don't want to undertake this if there's no interest though because it's not a simple process. If there is enough demand, I can customize the skin with pretty much anything you want.

Cataclysm type skin coming as a preview

Version: 2.6.3 RC5.4 is the latest version. The previous version had this problem for some reason. The only thing that fixed this was to delete the old SpartanUI files and unzip the latest version into the addons folder again.

Your party frames should come back. If not, then you might have to go into World of Warcraft>WTF>Account>AccountName>Saved Variables and make sure to delete or remove the Bartender4.lua and then reinstall SpartanUI. I had to do this to get my party frames to come back.

Hope that helps you

@Koleckai:
This is not the first time I've received a request to re-integrate this, so I'll have a good look at it again ...
That said I removed the functionality due to issues with how Viewport was coded on Blizzards end when they pushed the 4.0.1 patch (there was graphical issues when near water if the viewport was changed in anyway), they may very well have fixed this issue since then but I'll need to do some test's to check on it.

Reading this made me think about it, but please keep in mind that this isn't a promise, but I'll check up on it, and if you are lucky I might end up giving it a try (this also depends on wowmatrix, since they have the last say in whether they want me posting SpartanUI (FanUpdate) onto their site).

@thesin:
I really appreciate the work you have done, and I'll have a look at it as soon as I have some spare time.
THANKS

Re: Transparency

My husband and I have been using SUI for quite awhile now and we love it... however he has one question/request:

Is it possible to change the main background area so that it will be slightly transparent?
This request had me thinking about it since I read it, I have manually done this now, but I'm thinking of adding it as an option. And passing it back to Zliver if he wants to add it to the next release. so far this is what it looks like for the curious

EDIT: I made it into a quick command (n) is between 1 and 0 as a percent so 0.65 equals 65% visible
/sui alpha (n)

In my screen shot I used:
/sui alpha 0.65
/sui backdrop all 0.65

I'd like to change it to /sui alpha (n) [all, base, bars] to have more control and I still need to figure out the rep and XP bars as when I fade them I get a bad glow effect so it might not be possible with the current theme on SUI.

Anyhow here is a unified diff against 2.6.3RC5.4

WARNING: I'm new to lua and wow addons and this is now official in any way, if Zliver wants it or wants to improve on it, it's all his. I'm just trying to help and learn lua so I can help Zliver more in the future.

Also while doing this, I noticed the viewport, I'm going to attempt a fix there too, but it'll be a little more complex since I'll first need to figure out the diff between the Blizz art and SUI Art work then that diff * the scale to know how much to move it. As I'm still learning this might take me a bit longer to figure out.

Not fully testing, but in the same file as the patch above, the Viewport fi would be changing

Code:
local updateSpartanViewport = function(state) -- handles viewport offset based on settings
        if ( state ) then
                WorldFrame:ClearAllPoints(); WorldFrame:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", 0, 0); WorldFrame:SetPoint("BOTTOMRIGHT", 0, 0);
        else
                WorldFrame:SetPoint("BOTTOMRIGHT", 0, 0);
        end
end;
to

Code:
local updateSpartanViewport = function(state) -- handles viewport offset based on settings
        if ( state ) then
                WorldFrame:ClearAllPoints(); WorldFrame:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", 0, 0); WorldFrame:SetPoint("BOTTOMRIGHT", 0, 0);
        else
                WorldFrame:SetPoint("BOTTOMRIGHT", 0, 115*suiChar.scale);
        end
end;
it takes in account the scale and works, if you change the sui scale just issue a reload for the viewport to catch up at this point.

I don't recommend you use both the alpha and view port as once you move the view port it's black bellow it so it'll look funny.

Hope these things help ppl enjoy this amazing UI more!
