SpartanUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.3.1
by: Azgaurd [More]

SpartanUI Is designed to free your screen by moving a majority of the interface elements to the bottom. It is the new look for World of Warcraft. Originally Created by Ansu of Dalaran (aka Atriace) it is now managed and maintained by Libidos of Azgalor. You can now join the project on facebook where i will be posting polls and asking other general questions about the direction of the addon.

Required Addons

Bartender4

Installation Note

Disable oUF if you have it installed, This is a addon library used for unit frames SpartanUI has this built in and having a version not compatible with SpartanUI will break things.

F.A.Q

Q. How do i Move my focus/party/raid?

A. As of 3.1 All frames are now movable by holding Alt and dragging no need to unlock or lock them with a command or button.

Q. I changed a option but nothing changed.

A. Some of the new options in 3.1 for Raid/Party Frames require a /reload to be done after changing them, no it will not always be like this but in order to get it out in time for MOP launch day some convenience had to be sacrificed.

Slash Commands

/sui (Shows options window)
/spin (Toggles Spin Cam)
/sui version (Shows which version of SpartanUI you are using)

Features

  • Uses very little third-party code in an effort to remain self-contained
  • Almost zero-setup allows you to install and use it without tons of configuration
  • Support for almost any screen resolution, while favoring widescreen
  • SpinCam - provides a spinning camera effect when AFK
  • FilmEffects - which provide film-like grain effects on your screen
  • Party frames designed to go with the look and style of your player frames
  • Designed to use very little processor time or memory
  • All original artwork with high-res textures and 1:1 ratio for 30" displays
  • Built in reputation and experience bars
  • Integrated coordinates and zone information
  • UnitFrames that fit in with the overall design
  • Profiles - with options being rewrote SpartanUI will now support profiles
  • Minimal slash commands
  • Raid frames with healer mode and DPS mode. One focuses on a quick overview while healer mode will draw attention to those low on health and larger frames than in dps mode
  • Focus Fame and focus Target have been redesigned and are movable
  • All frames are now movable by holding Alt and dragging.

3.1.2:
-Added Monk Chi bar

3.1.3:
Fix - Monk class icon not showing in party frames.
Fix - Monk Statue moved to the right of the CHI.
Fix - Party frames now properly update when someone was invited while in combat.
Fix - Party Frame not showing up after leaving battleground.
Fix - Moved the Extra Power bar (Petrification bar in MV) to the left so its aligned with the player frame to account some people having a issue in Shado-pan Monastery where the bar overlaps with the extra action button on the last boss. (Temporary Fix, Long term this will move only if it needs to)
Change - SpartanUI no longer hides blizzard buffs, blizz does not allow addons to turn off buffs without some lengthy work arounds.
Removed - Player buffs are no longer displayed on the player frame.
Fix - Misc bugs.

FYI: The github version of oUF found here seems to work properly.

https://github.com/haste/oUF

Think it might even address the party update issues mentioned in Medmerd's last readme update. So far so good at any rate.

So far nothing new has come out for oUF in a few days, but I sure hope so. I will verify this either way later tonight.

Worth noting that this has been an ongoing problem affecting more than just oUF. I first noticed it with Vuhdo almost 2 months ago, and have since experienced the problem with a few other addons.

I've seen a few addons flop back and forth between registering PARTY_MEMBERS_CHANGED and GROUP_ROSTER_UPDATE in the in the past bit, but not sure if it's resolved anything. I haven't had time to do a ton of testing to be honest.

For those willing to take the chance (I did) you can download the new alpha at http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/spartan-ui/ ... It looks like it has solved all the party frame issues however you do have to load out-of-date addons due to OUF still being stupid. I know there are a few classes that cant see their new resource bars (shadow orbs for me) but I'm pretty sure an asap fix is in the works for that too. Hope this helps

With my current git version and the curseforge version having nearly the same party frame code I will be verifying this tonight.

In Desperate Need

SpartanUI 2.6.1 is not the latest version on curse, that version is from 2009. The latest version is v3.0.0-Beta1 and you have to click Other Downloads to see and get it

Sadly it appears as if it's 2 separate teams. Here on WoWInterface it says "I want to give a big THANK YOU to Zilver for letting me take over this project." but on Curse it says "Originally Created by Ansu of Dalaran (aka Atriace) it is now managed and maintained by Libidos of Azgalor." Nothing against the people here on WoWInterface but I think I'm gonna stick to Curse (even in it's alpha forms) since I know that whoever Zilver is he's not the original developer (think he took over or created the fan version while the official version was not being maintained). I've been using this UI for a very long time & I know I saw Ansu's name attached long before I remember seeing Zilver's name. Good Luck with which ever version you use & HUGS to the developers of both since they mostly create & maintain these addons with little to no compensation.

It's not so much seperate teams developing forks (long term) as it is a bunch of people trying to patch together something useable now. That's all it's ever really been, whether it was Zilver with the "fan update", Strife (Healbot) with his unsupported updates, or anyone else (Libidos, Medmerd, etc).

I don't think (and forgive me if my assumption is incorrect) any of these people really want to own the project, so much as keep using the UI, and are willing to chip in code here and there to keep "something" functional while the development situation works itself out.

Edit: One thing is fairly clear, and that is that despite anything we've heard to the contrary, we should not hold our breath waiting for the original author to breath new life into SUI.

At the end of the day, our only real hope is that somebody with the appropriate skillset, and more importantly enough time, takes the project and runs with it, or better yet, develops a similar alternative that meets our needs without having to live under the shadow of a dead project.

In my opinion, it's probably in all of our best interests to take some time in the next month or so, and start transitioning away from larger UI replacements (Spartan, LUI, etc), and start focusing on recreating the functionality on our own using discrete addons that we're comfortable swapping out on an individual basis should development stop, updates be delayed, etc.

this is Wutname1 from Curse (Dont mind the name this account is REALLY old)

So to give you a little information on my background with SpartanUI. And where it is going, i have been using it since it was 1.0 back in 2007, However ever since 2009 when atrace (origional author) stopped playing i was using ShadowUnitFrames and not spartan, all i used was the SpartanUI Core. and it stayed working all these year until MOP that is.

And now with MOP im sick of having so many mods, i want to bring updates to all the frames bring in raid frames and make a ui that is designed for healing or DPS with quick presets. I play a resto druid have been since BC and i DPS often and moving stuff has always annoyed me so i want to make it easy to manage.

As for skillet i am a Divisional Computer Programmer and System Administrator for a very large corporation. As for time i have nothing but time on I will be keeping this up to date for a long time to come. If i wasint i would not be revamping the entire backend DB and options system for SpartanUI 3.0.1

OH, i am trying to get control of wowinterface.com listing but curse.com will remain the most updated location.

I have already patched all of SUI for MoP, the only problem is I have lots of other options and some unfinished options in my copy. I'm still working on a proper GUI Config or I'd post it, Azguard woudl you like me to help at all?

mine is still totally based on Zilver's 2.6.4 branch though as I hated the chat changes after that so I haven't merged anything from that set.

this is my current SUI, SS taken today, notice the top icons are fine, also fixes the LFG stuff and Unitframe issues, also you'll see I have an alpha on my SUI so I can see through it, one of my additions from way back.

Just updated to this version (3.0.2) from previous version and party frames are now gone.

I assume you quoted mine by accident, since you can not install my version from anyplace. In my SS party frames aren't there since I'm not in a party plus I use raidframes for my party as I prefer them to be little.
