shNameplates  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r9.2
by: shUI [More]

shNameplates
A light-weight and beautiful nameplate addon that works right out of the box!

Why use this addon instead of some of the other famous nameplates? Simple: elegance, ease of use, and efficiency. Other addons similar to shNameplates are extremely "busy" or they are too plain. In some cases, they are highly inefficient when it comes to coding.
  • Unit Name
  • Raid Icon
  • Unit Level (using blizzard code to add difficulty coloring)
  • PvE coloring (blizzard based) and PvP coloring (class colored based)
  • Aggro and threat color (with glow overlay)
  • Castbar, Cast Time, and Spell Icon
  • Health Text Display (using color gradient for percentage)
  • Auto toggle on and off when in or out of combat (user set via config.lua)
  • Lots of config attributes that handle nameplate behavior, colors, fonts, and positioning (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration that allows repositioning of the spell and raid icons (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration option for TANKMODE (green coloring on aggro) and namecoloring (colors pvp enemy names with their class color) (user set via config.lua - PLEASE see changelog for more details)
  • Target cast spell names (for both channeled and cast)
  • Mouse over highlighting
  • Cool new fade in effects when nameplates appear
  • Target Unit POWER bar under health frame. SET TO ONLY IN PVP (b/c who cares about mob power at this point in the game)
  • COMBO points for feral and rogues...AND addition of showing Chi, burning embers, soul shards, holy power, burning embers, etc. (SELF buffs ony)
  • Now works with Icicle and/or Plate Buffs

NOTE: I want to thank the following authors: Caelian, Tekkub, Luzz, and Rothar. Especially Caelian, b/c I have based this addon to his famous addon caelNameplates

You can do that through keybindings in WoW, just use the show enemy nameplates binding isntead of show all nameplates.
He does not want to entirely disable the friendly nameplate. He only wants to disable the health-bar and keep the good-looking colored name. A feature that I also want and I have found it only on Docsnameplates that is currently not getting updated. In other words, we need a feature that you can have different visual settings on friendly and enemy nameplates.
This!

So much this! I miss those fancy friendly plates on docsnameplates.

I've been seeing a lot of weird spell casting lately. It looks like the person im targeting is casting something that was done by someone else nearby. For instance- just now in Twin Peaks there was a holy paladin and a frost mage. After killing the paladin, I saw the mage casting holy radiance. I've seen things like shamans casting flash heal too...

Edit: so that the hp value and % show if i mouse over or/and if its my target, regardless of boss/full hp, and otherwise it doesnt show.
I officially changed how the hp percentage is read. It calculates health based on the status bar and only when there is a change in the status bar. So you won't be able to do that in the newer versions. Reason I did this: for much better cpu utilization.
Is it possible to add an option so that hpvalue (cfg.hpallthetime that one) shows all the time (on all mobs) but only when in combat (preferably only with the mobs im in combat with, but thats not a must.)

Edit: and last, a annoying bug, the castbar doesnt appear if the mob is casting and i wasnt targeting it, then when i swap to it while its still casting the castbar doesnt appear, it wasnt like that before (it would just update and show), can this be fixed?
Your first request can't be done as of right now. I can't figure it out the way I have it update the health. However, the other problem is an issue I have seen before and am working on to fix. I am not sure exactly how, but it might be able to be done.

Custom border color

Forgive me as i am not super lua compliant, but is it possible to add a color code to a border? I did figure out how to get my own in there but its white and I would like to have a different color.

Here is a snippet from the border area if that helps.

cfg.backdrop = {
bgFile = mediapath.."bg",
edgeFile = mediapath.."bdbord1",
edgeSize = 10,
insets = { left = 1, right = 1, top = 1, bottom = 1 },
}
Can I just add the RGB in there somewhere?

Sorry i didnt notice that there were indications in parenthesis about config.lua. It would be easier if it would be typed as a separate list entry "all configuration is done via manual editing of config.lua, since i looked for such list entry and didnt find any.

Also, is there any way to make cast bars appear always? For me it only shows castbars when i aim a the target...
After some more testing, the change in CPU usage is minuscule so I will be adding your request in the next update. As far as the castbars always showing, that is something this addon will NOT do, b/c the blizzard nameplates only show castbars of your current target. Since my addon skins the blizzard nameplates, it won't do that.
