shNameplates
A light-weight and beautiful nameplate addon that works right out of the box!

Why use this addon instead of some of the other famous nameplates? Simple: elegance, ease of use, and efficiency. Other addons similar to shNameplates are extremely "busy" or they are too plain. In some cases, they are highly inefficient when it comes to coding.
  • Unit Name
  • Raid Icon
  • Unit Level (using blizzard code to add difficulty coloring)
  • PvE coloring (blizzard based) and PvP coloring (class colored based)
  • Aggro and threat color (with glow overlay)
  • Castbar, Cast Time, and Spell Icon
  • Health Text Display (using color gradient for percentage)
  • Auto toggle on and off when in or out of combat (user set via config.lua)
  • Lots of config attributes that handle nameplate behavior, colors, fonts, and positioning (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration that allows repositioning of the spell and raid icons (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration option for TANKMODE (green coloring on aggro) and namecoloring (colors pvp enemy names with their class color) (user set via config.lua - PLEASE see changelog for more details)
  • Target cast spell names (for both channeled and cast)
  • Mouse over highlighting
  • Cool new fade in effects when nameplates appear
  • Target Unit POWER bar under health frame. SET TO ONLY IN PVP (b/c who cares about mob power at this point in the game)
  • COMBO points for feral and rogues...AND addition of showing Chi, burning embers, soul shards, holy power, burning embers, etc. (SELF buffs ony)
  • Now works with Icicle and/or Plate Buffs

NOTE: I want to thank the following authors: Caelian, Tekkub, Luzz, and Rothar. Especially Caelian, b/c I have based this addon to his famous addon caelNameplates

Exactly, just download the older version and replace the new bar texture with the old one. You can do the same thing with fonts, etc. Enjoy

Thank you for showing me where to change this, but I think you misunderstand the question. I know that this changes the alpha and color of the border, but it changes it the entire time the nameplate is shown. I'm wondering if there's somewhere I can change something so when i have a target, the border becomes a different color/different alpha.
No there isn't a way, b/c it will be made into the threat colored borders...red, yellow, etc. You can change those colors via the config file though.
Ahh, okay. Thanks though! You get banana.

Any way to have a more apparent border for my target? Like have the grey outline become brighter or something?

Thanks for this. But foolish question here, probably because it's 5am combined with the fact that I failed miserably when I attempted to learn to code.

I'm assuming i'm adding your setalpha (1) line in and then replacing the existing block of code from 358 onward (overwriting what's there that looks about the same) with what you've provided? Or am I adding it in so there's two if/else blocks of self.boss:IsShown()s (your's and the existing)?

This is how I did it for the meantime, starting at line 357ish:

Code:
self.mobtype:SetAlpha(1)

	if self.boss:IsShown() then
		self.mobtype:SetTexture([=[Interface\AddOns\shNameplates\media\boss]=])
elseif elite and not self.elite:GetTexture() == "Interface\\Tooltips\\EliteNameplateIcon" then
		self.level:SetText("(R)"..level)
		self.mobtype:SetTexture([=[Interface\AddOns\shNameplates\media\elite]=])
	elseif elite then
		self.level:SetText(level)
		self.mobtype:SetTexture([=[Interface\AddOns\shNameplates\media\elite]=])
	else
		self.mobtype:SetTexture([=[Interface\AddOns\shNameplates\media\regular]=] or nil)
		self.mobtype:SetAlpha(0)
	end
Basically all I did is set added 2 parts of code that changed the alpha of the green textures to "0" and back to "1" for the other mob types. The media folder calls a tga file called regular but it doesn't exist, although its "or nil" it still seems to be calling a texture somehow.
