Version: r9.2

shNameplates
A light-weight and beautiful nameplate addon that works right out of the box!

Why use this addon instead of some of the other famous nameplates? Simple: elegance, ease of use, and efficiency. Other addons similar to shNameplates are extremely "busy" or they are too plain. In some cases, they are highly inefficient when it comes to coding.
  • Unit Name
  • Raid Icon
  • Unit Level (using blizzard code to add difficulty coloring)
  • PvE coloring (blizzard based) and PvP coloring (class colored based)
  • Aggro and threat color (with glow overlay)
  • Castbar, Cast Time, and Spell Icon
  • Health Text Display (using color gradient for percentage)
  • Auto toggle on and off when in or out of combat (user set via config.lua)
  • Lots of config attributes that handle nameplate behavior, colors, fonts, and positioning (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration that allows repositioning of the spell and raid icons (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration option for TANKMODE (green coloring on aggro) and namecoloring (colors pvp enemy names with their class color) (user set via config.lua - PLEASE see changelog for more details)
  • Target cast spell names (for both channeled and cast)
  • Mouse over highlighting
  • Cool new fade in effects when nameplates appear
  • Target Unit POWER bar under health frame. SET TO ONLY IN PVP (b/c who cares about mob power at this point in the game)
  • COMBO points for feral and rogues...AND addition of showing Chi, burning embers, soul shards, holy power, burning embers, etc. (SELF buffs ony)
  • Now works with Icicle and/or Plate Buffs

NOTE: I want to thank the following authors: Caelian, Tekkub, Luzz, and Rothar. Especially Caelian, b/c I have based this addon to his famous addon caelNameplates

Did you do something with the threat glow in this latest update? Can't see the red-ish glow when mobs are targeting me :/

Hi there,

thank you for the update. It gives a nice bunch of options.
I have a request regarding your name shortening method.

Currently, for long names, you display the last word complete and reduce all words in front of it to the first char.
Can you please add an option to display the first word of the name in full length and reduce the following ones to the first char? This would fit MUCH better in the german version of the game.

Keep up the great work!

@skylinee: the only thing I changed was the alpha of the glow border. If it bothers you I can show you an easy fix: (in shNameplates.lua) go ahead and remove or comment out lines 116 and 119. That should revert it back to normal. They were a bit too much for me, but it's an easy fix.

@x-buzz: fair enough, let me check out and see what I can do. I might add some code to check for the user's locale and based on that fix the naming scheme. Looking for it in the next update or so...but I will be busy playing cataclysm for this week soon though

Hi! Love the addon! Few questions:

Is it possible to add text to the cast bar with the spell being cast? And also, is adding a config menu in your future plans?

Thanks!

Having the name of the spell is not a bad idea actually, I'll look into that..as far as an in game config, I haven't decide, but I am leaning towards no for now. I made the lua config really really easy. But I understand the convenience of having an ingame config, keep checking

Great!

The lua config is easy, but like you said, an ingame config is so much more convenient

Looking forward to any updates!

is there a way I can turn off the shortening of mob names all together? I don't like it and would rather see the entire name on the nameplate.. Could someone point me in the right direction of what to edit in the lua?

Amazing addon! I've tried virtually every nameplate addon out there in the last few days and none fit what I was looking for as well as this one. Very well implemented!

An ingame config would be awesome at some point, but as you've said the LUA file is simple enough.

Is it possible to change the pink-ish color to be more like the original red color, for aggressive mobs?

Thank you.

@Hamiltonzth: thanks bud for the compliments!

@Kiirsten: you can definitely change the color of the "hostile" creatures to just pure red by doing the following:

replace line 137 with this:
Code:
newr, newg, newb = 1, 0, 0
replace line 138 with this:
Code:
self.healthBar:SetStatusBarColor(1, 0, 0)
That should work! If it doesn't let me know. Also, if you want to change hostile color anything else, just get the hex color percentages and replace those three numbers with the color of your choosing. I might be adding an option like that in a future update.

I love these nameplates but am sad I cannot find a way to stop them from overlapping.

I'll do:/console spreadnameplates 1

and it works with the default nameplates but will not with shNameplates enabled.

Was wondering if there is a way to fix it so I can use these again?

Other than my personal problem with them they are great!

Hey bud, it's really easy to not let them overlap. If you look in the config.lua file...there is a behavior option section. Check it out, I am not sure which setting it is, but I have a very detailed information comment next to each option. Check it out and let me know if you need more help

Excellent nameplates so far, thanks a lot. Just one question: is it possible to change overlapping ingame without needing to reload?
