This add-on adds empty Worgen sniffing soundfiles in a directory that WoW will read and use prior to the original files, not even modifying any files. So this add-on is legal, and for that sake all other that change or remove game sounds.

This addon utilizes a mechanism entirely supplied by Blizzard and is under their complete control. Through this method, they only allow certain files to be overridden, mainly sound and texture files. Models however, cannot be. The section in question in the ToS was to cover bypassing this control by modifying the MPQ archives directly. Time and time again, if Blizzard didn't want us to do certain things legitimately, they just block it.

Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to disable any add-on functionality within World of Warcraft at its sole discretion.

The stupidest question is the one that you never asked. Blizzard is pretty flexible with what they do and do not allow. For the most part "MOST PART" If a addon is doing it then it is not against the TOS or EULA. Of course there are always the addons that do push the envelope, but blizzard just end up blocking them .

Wow does use a sound folder to overwrite the original sounds.
This website is not a scam. Nor are the files we host. We take our users security and safety very seriously. Each file is manually approved, ALLLLLLLL files are scanned before being allowed!!! ill say that again ALL Files.
This is not a addon and it does work. This does not go into the addon folder.

TLDR: You are wrong wrong wrong. Do not go around accusing people of being a scam because you do not know how to follow instructions.

Actually, this has become a standard practice to replace sounds you don't wish to hear in-game. A sound file with the proper name placed in the Sound folder will replace the original sound.

I assure you this is not a scam. WoWI's admins and smods work very hard to ensure that "fake" addons do not make it onto our website.

To reiterate;

This is a real addon.

This addon works as described on the info page.

There is no scam here.

I uploaded this in response to people asking for a way to mute these specific sounds. I don't actually call this an addon myself, it's a mod. My definition of the two are very different. An addon is code written in XML/Lua that is run by the game's UI system to do whatever the addon needs to accomplish. A mod just replaces data files to change other aspects of the game itself. Examples of this are changing sounds, music, textures, fonts, etc. Whether a file uploaded on this site is an addon or a mod, the game engine only accepts certain changes. Example, a mod cannot replace internal model mesh files.

For a mod to work, each file that is replacing another needs to be in the exact same relative path as the internal file stored in the MPQ archives. To have the game engine completely ignore a file in the MPQ archives, it's common practice (even within Blizzard patch files) to supply a replacement file that is empty. An empty file would be a file with a length of zero bytes.

If anyone has any more questions, please ask. It doesn't help anyone to make rash comments because you may not understand how things work properly. There are many people here willing to assist you in your needs.
