Fills in unexplored areas on the world map and provides a satellite view of the surrounding area.

Adds a small dropdown menu to the bottom right of the map to switch views.

This is not a map replacement, it simply attaches to the map frame and should be compatible with most existing map addons.
2.5 - Added underwater maps for vash'jir, prevented updates if map hasn't changed.
2.4 - Changed menu to a standard dropdown, adjusted frame levels to reduce interference.
2.3 - Added a new menu to toggle the different views, updated the database.
2.2 - Fixed bug with satellite map displaying in Silvershard Mines and other maps like it.
2.1 - Fixed bug with satellite map displaying in microdungeons.
2.0 - Added satellite map.
1.03 - Hid check button for maps without fog.
1.02 - Moved unexplored overlay textures to appear beneath the explored areas.
1.01 - Fixed world map highlight showing up under the overlays.

There's a delay because I don't hardcode which textures exist, it has to figure that out on the fly and it isn't keeping a permanent cache of them so every time you reload it has to check for their existence (which is really slow).

I can change how this works which would make it use more memory but should load the textures a lot faster.

There's also just a lot of textures so unless I preload them somehow it can take a while to draw them all.

Yes works fine and the performance is already much better now. Thanks for the quick fix
BTW was the "slow" loading of the map limited to server speed of is it even slower if you have not a SSD hard drive like me?

It should have underwater images for vash'jir now.

I also made a change that reduces how often it redraws the map so it shouldn't lag as much. I might re-address that issue later since it could be more efficient than it is.

Vashjir

Can you disable Satmap in Vashjir? Not working very well its just... blue I can't remember was the minimap all blue while in Vashjir? I think no?
Hybrid version is working good here^^

I understand what the modes did but thought the names of the buttons don't let you know what they do so I changed it like this now:

The last option on the list makes it just fill in unexplored areas and hides the terrain map. You'll only notice a difference on a character that hasn't explored the map yet.

I added screenshots with the different modes so you can see the difference.

Oh yeah, here's an earlier screenshot of my other addon localized.

No thanks i use my texture replacements anyway.

Looks like this now:


difference beteen no terrain and disabled is hard to see thats why i renamed it to Unknown(-Zones)

The only way it wouldn't work is if you put it above where the menu is created, and that would throw an error. Anywhere after "local menu [...]" should do it.



If you want to change the graphic for the button you can use foglightmenuButton:SetNormalTexture('path') (there's also SetPushedTexture and SetHighlightTexture).

Ah, also if you want to make it so you can click on the menu instead of the button to pull it up you can do this..

  1. foglightmenu:SetScript('OnMouseDown', function(self) ToggleDropDownMenu(nil, nil, self) end)

foglightmenuText:SetJustifyH('LEFT') will left-align the text.

Wowhead just exports the data from the other versions of the client.

If you want to hide the background of the menu you can try this..

The map is dragable (has to be enabled in lua -> local lock_map_position = false) for my Interface I have modiefied the map to show up biger, it has a transperent black border and I made cordinates more precise.

The new dropdown looks much better!
But there is no way to hide the the button texture (not the dropdown arrow) or maybe only make it thiner/shorter? I dont know about the hide part the dropdown menu but I tryed to resize it by myself with UIDropDownMenu_SetWidth(frame, width, padding) but don't realy know what i have to put into it so it works...

Hm wowhead has maps/names in all languages...

Okay, I replaced the menu with a dropdown version and moved it to the bottom right corner of the map. I fixed the terrain showing up over the player arrow.

Anyway, to answer your questions about my subzone project - I will be making it draw on the normal map but I haven't yet decided what it will look like, you're welcome to offer any suggestions. It definitely won't look like the northrend screenshot, they will only display on (basically) the smallest map they appear on.

Although I am kind of partial to this look.

It isn't possible to have it get the localized names in-game, but I can generate translations if I download the other clients. It's a pain in the ass but still considerably easier than manually translating them.

Thanks your other project looks awsome (are you planing to hide subzonesnames on the overview map or mybe show the bignames on top?) And will the names translate automatic?


To foglight update:

1. is it possible to remove the texture of the fog button? so it only shows the fog text as clickable button?

2. The "All Terain" Button is hard to hit if I use mMap. The button is only hitable on the very top because its overlaying the map.

3. Its not a big deal but if you close the map while options are open the options are still there next time you open it (but they'll fade then)

4. Woudn't it be cooler with a dropdown (drop upwards) menu?

5. the Player arrow is faded out in the "All Terain" view
