Battle Pet Daily Tamer  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.2.11
by: Gello [More]

Battle Pet Daily Tamer puts a familiar paw on the world map to mark where daily pet tamers are that you have not completed for the day.

If you mouseover the tracking button in the topright of the world map, a button will slide out. Once clicked, you can selectively enable/disable which paws are shown:

  • Battle Pet Daily Tamer: This is the "master switch" that mirrors the "Pet Battles" option in the regular tracking button menu. While off, all paws will be removed from the map.
  • Reward Dailies (green paw): These are dailies that reward a pet supply satchel, pet charm or token to buy pet supplies.
  • Normal Dailies (blue paw): These are dailies that reward xp but no extra rewards.
  • Legendary (orange paw): These are the legendary pets to battle, if you have picked up the Book of Fables quests, or in the Tanaan Jungle.
  • World Quests (green paw): These are dailies on the Broken Isle that are only up for a period of time and have different rewards.
  • Inactive Dailies (grey paw): These are the above dailies after they've been completed of if they're not currently available. It is off by default.
  • On Azeroth Map: Turning this on will show active paws on the Azeroth world map also. Inactive dailies do not show on the Azeroth map.
  • Larger Paws: Makes all paws on the map 33% bigger.

- More tooltip text should now be localized to the user's client (such as 'Celestial Tournament').
- If a tamer has a quest named differently than the tamer, the tooltip will include the quest name.
- Added a new paw category 'World Quests' to toggle on/off world quests. (This does not remove active world quests at the lowest map level.)
- The option to show tamers on the flight maps is temporarily missing. This is something I intend to add back in a future update.
- Paws shown on the Azeroth world map were removed. (I'm unsure whether to add this back. Let me know if you have strong feelings about it.)

I wanted to know if it was on an English client. (All languages should work)

I'll check into this.

Anyone else reading, are you seeing this behavior also?

When beasts of fable is checked on the map, the orange paws should show up when you have a beasts of fable quests in your questlog and there are objectives that need to be completed still.

Just like the other daily paws, when they're done they should disappear. When you have all objectives completed or the quest is turned in there will be no orange paws.

If that's not working for you, can you tell me what faction (horde or alliance) you are and whether you're on a North American client?

Thanks!

I notice on the PTR now there's a "Show Pet Tamers" option added by Blizzard on the world map. It has a cvar ("showTamers") but little else looks implemented yet. Sounds like they're adding marks to the world map themselves. It will be pretty cool if they incorporate this into the default UI. Hopefully it will clear completed tamers too.

From GlobalStrings.lua:
OPTION_TOOLTIP_SHOW_BATTLE_PET_TAMERS_ON_MAP = "If enabled, you will be able to look at your map to see the locations of battle pet tamers."

Thanks, you rock and what an incredibly fast response! I am quite content with a .lua change if that is the way you choose to support it! I completely understand the desire to not have a configuration and that has actually been part of what I have loved about this add-on!

Yeah it can be done. I wanted to avoid having an options panel or slash commands, but maybe it can't hurt for set-once-and-forget stuff.

There'll be an update to this addon as we get closer to 5.3 release (Beast of Fable dailies are split into 3 quests). I'll have something for this in that update if not sooner.

1.1.8 just posted should fix the orange paws on all non-English clients. Sorry that took so long despite it being a simple fix (instead of indexing by objective name, it indexes by quest id:objective #).

The tooltips will be English still. I have an idea how to get the tooltips to learn their localization but it'd be for a future update.

I'll install a language pack this week and see about getting it ready for localization. I may be able to get by with numbered objectives too so no localization is needed.
I think the concern is about detecting if the daily is in the quest log or not as there's no problem with older tamers.

fortunately it's a quest, so tamers are shown on the map like a classic quest obective

New one just posted has the orange paws now. I'm not totally satisfied with the color of the orange. I wanted to use the in-game paw's 0xffd200 but it was too hard to see in the map. So it uses 0xff8000 like the legendary names. I'll probably revisit the paw graphic someday and brighten it a bit so it has a greater contrast.

Also if anyone has a strong desire to be able to selectively turn off green paws independent of the others let me know. I'll probably just have the green paw do that and not act as a global on/off switch. If a paw is in the way of something on the map it's probably obvious which paw to disable so you can see what's underneath.

And finally, for non-English users (if there's any), the fable quests paws will remain up for as long as you have the quest. But of course you can turn them off if it's annoying. I can localize this easily if you post precisely what the 10 quest objectives are. For instance in German it may be "Erobern No-No". If there ends up being any non-English users I can easily create a localization file.
