SanityCheck
Version: 1.61
by: Malsomnus [More]
This add-on will remind you of all the things which you already know you need to do, they're so obvious, but somehow they just slip your mind every now and then. No more wearing Holy gear after changing spec to Protection, no more raiding with a fishing rod, and no more forgetting to put poison on your daggers before an important boss fight!

Features:
* A little frame which tells you that you're awesome. As soon as you do something silly, like try to tank in Frost Presence, a red light will blink and notify you that you're a noob, instead. You can right-click to tell the red light to stop blinking and just stay on, so it's less annoying (in case you actually want to fish), but still visible.
* A smaller frame that lights up in yellow if you've forgotten to gem or enchant your gear. Right-clicking this frame will pop up a convenient "shopping list" of all the gems and enchants you need to buy.
* An even smaller frame that lights up in blue as long as you, or someone in your raid group, don't have your class buffs or some equivalent up (for example, a druid who has no stats buff on), and also Symbiosis for druids.
* Yet another small frame that reminds you to get your food/ flask buffs when you're in a raid.
* You can configure the minimum item level that should be gemmed/ enchanted, which raid difficulties should require consumable buffs, and you can disable stat checking in case your shadow priest really honestly can't find a better item than this tank ring right now.
* You can configure the add-on to disappear completely when there are no problems to report, which allows you to place it in a more visible location.
* Now featuring several great looking skins with original art by the talented trollgirl!

Since I don't actively play all classes, suggestions (and other feedback) are very much welcome!

I believe the rogue sketch involves some bones, poisons, and sharp objects. I'm quite looking forward to that as well as the warrior

As for the ring... ahh, right, there used to be plenty of that stuff back then. I'm afraid it's probably not worth the effort to fix that, since this entire module will be obsolete when WoD comes out, or possibly even on 6.0 (due to the way main stats on items will work).

Or maybe just the hammer with the wings - I don't want to kill the artist, lol!

*edit* Ideas! The light 'windows' on the hammer could be the areas for the sanity check boxes. So kind of designed like the light pauldrons. I can't look them up right now... the shoulders that Sunwalker Dezco wears and the name for them escapes me!

Yeah I found out yesterday that there's not a pally one. The artwork is SO pretty! As for pally art, I know the lion is the emblem for the paladin, but since half the paladins out there are not alliance and the lion is essentially the alliance symbol, I vote for something more neutral. :-) Maybe even a 'hammer of light' type thing if you're so inclined? The book sounds like a neat idea too! I only mention hammer on behalf of the sunwalkers.

Well, I don't actually play a rogue, but as far as I can tell damage poisons go on your main weapon and everything else goes on your other weapon, and it said somewhere that Crippling Poison is available at level 20. Please let me know if I've got that completely wrong
I deserve the stamp of noob. There are LETHAL poisons, and NON-LETHAL poisons. (They're listed that way on the poison slide-drawer in the spellbook - but only in the tooltip hover over each, not any other distinction. Oh, the hazards of reading too fast...) You can have one of each.

(looking for a desk to hit my head against - mine is full of computer)

It looks like you get your first off-hand poison at level 20 (long before Leeching Poison!), so I'm putting that as the minimum level for having 2 poisons.

Re: Re: Re: Some confusion as to criteria?

About low level items: well, I have done some leveling at some point in the past, and replacing items isn't that easy. You find what you find. I'm pretty sure my mage upgraded his necklace from around i120 to i400, as well as a green TBC trinket to the BiS from ICC heroic. Sometimes you just can't get an upgrade. So having a constant reminder for the fact that you need an upgrade doesn't seem like a useful feature to me, and anyway I reckon people who care about upgrades are well capable of seeing it themselves.
Mind you, I do check for suspiciously low ilvl items, but only for max level characters, to make sure they aren't trying to raid with their Thunderfury or fishing pole or safari hat.

About the rogue poison thing: this is the sort of thing I kinda hope the users will tell me, because proper testing would require me to level 34 characters by myself

Either way, thank you for the detailed report and I'm glad you like the add-on even though it keeps calling you a noob
I have no clue how much coding it would require, but having it apply some 'sense' ... for example, complaining about the ring with the off stats isn't so much the problem as complaining about it and *not* the ring that was terribly low level compared to the rest of the gear. Now, I do have an addon that tells me what items are low - Below Average Items - and it shows it on the character pane. Which is really excellent if I'm peering at that page and deciding what I need to replace. As far as I can tell, all it does is calculate average item level and mark the things that are below it, or dragging it down. Better yet, go look at it, cause I have no clue what I'm talking about here.

Yours fills a different niche, in that it's an 'at a glance' thing as I'm running to and from something, or my poisons run out mid-run. Speaking of which, I have two rogues. One has a talent called leeching poison, and so I have two poisons I can apply, and your blinkie doesn't go off till I've got two poisons in place. The other doesn't have that talent, so I can only apply one poison. Doesn't matter what I have equipped. Drove me crazy before I finally figured out the talent thing. However, on that rogue your blinkie keeps complaining about putting poison up when I only have one. If you say 'i'm not gonna go parse the ever changing talent crap to figure this out, just turn it off', that's fine. Just wanted to let you know.

Ok, I'm babbling, more as/if I think of it.

Re: Some confusion as to criteria?

Barleduq: In a nutshell, rogues aren't supposed to be wearing gear with dodge on it, so I'm pretty much assuming that if you're wearing dodge then it's by accident.
I realize that while levelling it's possible to find an item that is a major upgrade despite having the "wrong" stats, but... frankly, I didn't have any better ideas on how to handle it.

One idea that occurred to me right now is to separate the bad stats into stats that are obviously wrong (spirit for a rogue), and stats that are not great but might still happen on items that are a legit upgrade for you (dodge for a rogue). Then I can add an option to ignore the slightly-wrong stats if you're in the process of levelling up or gearing up, and can't find all the optimal gear quite yet, but don't want the add-on to nag you all the time.

I'd love to hear your opinion on this idea, or any other ideas you might have.
Either way, thank you for the detailed report and I'm glad you like the add-on even though it keeps calling you a noob

Some confusion as to criteria?

tl:dr - I don't understand the reasoning behind favoring main stats over significantly better gear with secondary stats.

Playing a L67 rogue.

Ok, I can see saying that the Phantasmal Headdress is bad, beucase it's caster stats. (it happened to be the best option available, significantly higher armor and stamina, than what I had.)

But I don't understand why Auchenai Monk's Tunic is being called bad - ilvl 100, ag 24, stam 14, hit 19, dodge 24, armor 424. I thought it might be that it needed repair but it's still nagging. It does not nag about the Darkstorm Tunic, ilvl 88, ag 38, stam 40, armor 338. (Yes, I'm looking for gems to slot to make up the difference, but gem stats now all slide with level, which makes it impossible to figure out if it's even possible. But that's not a complaint for you. : ) )

It's also nagging about the legs, Skullduggers Leggings, ilvl 94, ag 20, stam 24, dodge 21, hit 16. Ring 2 is random dungeon reward of the champion, ilvl 70, with str 12, 18 stam, and 12 dodge. Again, better than what I had. But it's not complaining about ring1, Glassy Band, ilvl 52, ag 5, stam 8, crit 6.

Btw - I *love* this addon. It's exactly what I need. And the tagline had me rofl and telilng everyone in the house about it. (we all play.)
