Rework of ChatMOD by Solariz.

I have optimized its speed and rewrote the code to fix some bugs and hopefully improve compatibility.

Now in Beta Status.
I will now be fine tuning code and working on making it more efficient. Also the evil bugs... They will be zapped. Anyone finding a bug please submit them in the Bug section of this main page or use the comments area.

Status Colors: <RED>: Not Done or Started | <YELLOW>: In Progress | <GREEN>: Complete

It runs and currently the following work:

  • ArrowKey chat history scrolling. <Still Testing> (Escape clears position memory)
  • Name storage
  • ChatSounds
  • Name Coloring. Should be fully complete now. (Updated)
  • Announce on detecting name in chat (Both Visual and Sound).
  • URL detection.
  • Add removal of "Your not in a <type> group." message spam.(Complete)
  • Timestamps (May still be buggy...)
  • GUI Options (In Game Menu -> Interface -> Addons -> ChatMod2) | Non working Options have text in RED
  • Channel Name Replacements. Be careful as I have not debugged it enough to know if there are any bugs with it with links or what else have you.

Todo:
  • Add Version Checking.
  • Add warning when out of date.

Previously Incompatible Addons with Chatmod That Are Now Compatible with ChatMod2:
  • TRP2 (Fixed Name Highlighting when player uses a surname.)

Work In Progess:
  • Add Slash Commands
    • /CM2

Rev 11 Beta 3:
-Finished Name Coloring main algorithm.
-Found an api change for the players name vs. other names. Working on a fix.
-New Option 'Announce Name' added. Currently not working 100% based on issue with above api and changes to code.
* Next version should be the release version for 11. I will expect to have name coloring working as intended by then. *

Rev 11 Beta 2:
-Fixed glitches and spaces in last beta.
-Found a bug in the Name Coloring and as such is broken. Working on a fix.
-(Should Be) Much faster engine parsing chat. I noticed potential for a future bug but I dont expect it to occur. Even still I am planning to fix it before it does become one...

Rev 11 Beta:
-Updated Chat Name Detection Engine.
>May be buggy. Please report all bugs so I can fine tune this. It is still a work in progress.

6.x.x: Updated TOC and Lib Files.

Rev 10: BETA STATUS!
-Found true reason behind DBM Bug after altering coloring of Invite Linking. Fixed.
-Finished Channel Name Replacement code. I am still sure bugs will arise with this feature.
For now use with caution
-Other Fixes

Rev 9: Revamped Name Coloring.
Fixed a bug with DBM when a boss uses an ability on you. (Still Needs Testing however)
Improved Self Name Coloring.
Note: This edition is yet incomplete for further testing but is working. More will come in v10.

Throwing some real time debugging on the addon for v11Beta3 tonight.
  • I figured out why it was coloring names but not changing it in chat.
  • I removed any leftover debug lines for chat.
  • I implemented the own name in chat warnings and see it didnt make the config change last time and has been fixed now.

Once I finish making sure it works in my wow client I will upload the new beta.

Ok it fixed the start of name coloring and options but still has leftover bugs that need squishing. I will be working on that through the week. Ill have an update as soon as I can.

No one reported it but should have by now...

Apparently Blizzard changed the GetValue() returns from functions still using 1/nil/0 to true/false.
This affected my interface options panels and as such not many options should have been working that were checkboxes. I will be debugging this as well.

I believe this is now fixed but I need to run some tests once I have the chance. Very silly reason why this one was broke if this is really it lol.

You should all know tonight.

I still have some things to put in to motion before its 100% working though.

Fully working Beta has been delayed...

I will push what I have but there will be another beta.
Currently Name coloring is broken. It is cause by another bug with the coloring function.

I need to find it and fix it and so until then it wont work. However the bugs caused by the last beta are fixed.

Releasing 11 Beta 2 but will take time per file verification.

Development came to a crawl due to my schedule and away from home programming site encountering a unique bug while testing the code by emulating a chat box.

I expect it done within a day or two depending on my workload.
Ok I think I figured out why it was giving me that hassle and I do believe it should be truly fixed this time. But I am still labeling this as beta 2 and it will be out tonight.

Anyone with any chat problems get me a screenshot or find a way to duplicate it. Generally just a screenshot should be all I need to see to guess what happened. I am going to make a log system sometime later that you can use to get reports and I will look at it but that wont be up until at least version 15ish because I want to finish the core features first.

Finish update and I have to test before I send it out. Unfortunately the servers are locked atm. I will test ASAP and get it up here. It should greatly improve chat name detection and be less error prone.

I believe with my new expanded knowledge I have with LUA I plan to roll an update to the engine. It should fix a few bugs that are occuring with searching and name replacing and highlighting.

Ok all is done now and I need to relook over it and test it a tiny bit more. ETA on release is roughly 7:30pm central. Or 2 hours from now.

Edit: So the code is finished but I am fine tuning some minor(kinda major) bugs I found testing this on another character. Some lines of config are not setting themselves up properly as they have been on my monk. If you just installed the addon you are likely not seeing this. Otherwise it isnt updating the info and you have Nil values on options that should have values.

I am implementing a fix to test from now on and if needed it will fix the value. This will be run whenever a new feature was added and uses new options created after a person might have installed the addon and it wont be created dynamically.


As Always let me know if I missed any bugs or options settings that are nil throwing errors so I can squish them.
