WatchDog  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.25
by: Cladhaire [More]
All click-casting code has been removed. Anyone who used WatchDog for it should instead use Clique, which is much better, cleaner, and based entirely off the WatchDog click-casting code. (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...php?s=&id=5108 )

I repeat. WatchDog is no longer a Click-Casting mod. It is purely a set of unit frames.

Watchdog is a highly customizable set of UnitFrames first and foremost. When logging in for the first time, you'll see a single UnitFrame towards the center of your screen. It will display some information about your character, and windows will pop up as party members, pets and targets show up.

You can open the configuration menu by typing /wdog, /wd or /watchdog, depending on what other addons are installed in your system (/wd conflicts with Wardrobe type addons). There are a number of options available on this screen, and I won't explain them all since they'll be changing quite soon.

The format strings (Target Format 1, Player Format 2, etc.) are what defines what is seen on each frame-- and can be customized per type of frame. Format strings are entered using a system of [tags]. A full listing of the tags is available in the readme.txt file within WatchDog.

Discussion for this addon can be found here: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...6299#post16299

CHANGELOG
WatchDog 1.25
==========
All click-casting code has been removed. Anyone who used WatchDog for it should instead use Clique, which is much better, cleaner, and based entirely off the WatchDog click-casting code. (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?s=&id=5108)

Does WD have a way or is there a plan for Discord Unit Frame support?

You can define a function wherever you want. The following function will cast Nature's Swiftness/HT on a player and announce it whispers.

Code:
fuction WatchDog_NSHT(unit)
  local tchange = nil
  if not UnitIsUnit("target", unit) then
    ClearTarget()
    tchange = true
  end

  CastSpellByName("Nature's Swiftness")
  SpellStopCasting()
  CastSpellByName("Healing Touch")

  SendChatMessage("Tossing you a huge heal-- rock it out!!", "WHISPER", nil, UnitName(unit))

  if tchange then TargetLastTarget() end
end
The keys are, the function should take a single argument, which is the unitid of the frame you clicked on (whether its CTRA, Blizzard Raid, XRaid or WatchDog). If you want to do something via script, etc. you can use the global variable wd_unit, which gets set to the appripriate unit on clickcasting.

Then in your click casting, you just specify the function name with no parenthesis, no quotes.

WatchDog_NSHT

If you need an easy place to define functions, use WatchDogCustom.lua, that's where we define some other basic ones.

Thanks.

That works Clad for casting Bandage on myself, but I get this error when I try to bandage someone else.

WatchDogCustom.lua:50: Usage: UnitIsUnit("unit", "otherUnit")

In WatchDogCustom.lua, there's a function called "WD_Bandage" that you could use as your click-cast. That will use the item in your backpack, first slot whenever you use that click-cast. You can easily change that function, or write one of your own to use. If you need more details, just let me know in email.

I'll be writing a better bandage function soon.

[status] won't show anything unless you have a status. For players those are:

"OFFLINE", "DEAD", "GHOST", "RESTING", "COMBAT"

The change is already in there for WatchDog 2.0, but it won't make it in beore that. if you need to-- I can give you hack code to put it in in the meantime.

Re: opening watchdog

Hi, I was wondering if there's a way to open the watchdog gui other than /wd, or if I can change that somehow -- as it turns out I have a wardrobe mod that's already claimed those letters!
Change WatchDog.lua:1189 from

SLASH_WATCHDOG1 = "/wd";

to

SLASH_WATCHDOG1 = "/watchdog";

Having problems with alignment!

Hello, this is a great mod and i really like it but i can't get it to work the way i want it .

my problem is alignment, i get this with fixed width, but i want this which is clearly "better" aligned.

It seems like i get center of left when i do [left] in fixed mode, can i fix this in some way?

thanks for help
