WatchDog  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.25
by: Cladhaire [More]
All click-casting code has been removed. Anyone who used WatchDog for it should instead use Clique, which is much better, cleaner, and based entirely off the WatchDog click-casting code. (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...php?s=&id=5108 )

I repeat. WatchDog is no longer a Click-Casting mod. It is purely a set of unit frames.

Watchdog is a highly customizable set of UnitFrames first and foremost. When logging in for the first time, you'll see a single UnitFrame towards the center of your screen. It will display some information about your character, and windows will pop up as party members, pets and targets show up.

You can open the configuration menu by typing /wdog, /wd or /watchdog, depending on what other addons are installed in your system (/wd conflicts with Wardrobe type addons). There are a number of options available on this screen, and I won't explain them all since they'll be changing quite soon.

The format strings (Target Format 1, Player Format 2, etc.) are what defines what is seen on each frame-- and can be customized per type of frame. Format strings are entered using a system of [tags]. A full listing of the tags is available in the readme.txt file within WatchDog.

Discussion for this addon can be found here: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...6299#post16299

I've updated the description to better describe what WatchDog does, and to show the tags that are currently available to the user-- I truncated most of the changelog.
Sorry, was abit frustrated after finding a mod that seemed to fill my needs and then finding no documentation what so ever about formatting codes (thoose that was here was to basic).

Buffs/Debuffs

A suggestion about buff/debuff placement

My gui looks like this:

Me (Pet)
Member1 (Pet1)
Member2 (Pet2)
Member3 (Pet3)
Member4 (Pet4)

I have debuffs on lower left and buffs on upper left. Now this means that if a pet has many buffs/debuffs it will overwrite member bars.

My suggestion is to make it possible to have different placement on members and on pets, so in my case i could put pets buffs on the right, so nothing gets in the way.

-------------------------------

Suggestion nr2:
On my partymembers I often prefer to filter buffs so i only see the buffs/debufsf i can control.

But on my target I like to see all buffs/debuffs

Suggestion: Have a different buff/debuff setting for partymembers and target.

If you check the portal, both of those features are covered for 2.0, but you won't see them until that release. They require a change to the underlying structure of the code-- and I won't make my users reset their settings more than once.

Is there ability to justify text?

I am wondering if there is a way to justify some text to one side and another..
i.e.. Name justified ot left, but the MaxHp/HP id like justified to the right.

Is that possible in present incarnation? If not, is is coming in 2.0?

Thanks for the great looking mod.

You can use the [left][center][right] tags to justify blocks of text within the frame. The frames are each set up with a total of 6 FontStrings:

[left][name][right][curhp]/[maxhp] will have the name on the left, and the curhp/max hp justified on the right. This works for any line on any frame. You get no justification WITHIN the [left][center][right] tho, they're just normal text strings.

Thanks for the quick response

Thank you for the quick response and this is Exactly what I was looking for.

I am eager to see what you have done in 2.0 due to being so impressed with the present system. Curious if there is intent to have a Load presets from another character?

Thanks again for all you do for the community.

opening watchdog

Hi, I was wondering if there's a way to open the watchdog gui other than /wd, or if I can change that somehow -- as it turns out I have a wardrobe mod that's already claimed those letters!

Having problems with alignment!

Hello, this is a great mod and i really like it but i can't get it to work the way i want it .

my problem is alignment, i get this with fixed width, but i want this which is clearly "better" aligned.

It seems like i get center of left when i do [left] in fixed mode, can i fix this in some way?

thanks for help

Re: Having problems with alignment!

What you did is 100% correct, and I just did it on my WatchDog-- and it does exactly what you're looking for. I replicated your settings exactly.

Are you using the most updated version of WatchDog?

Change WatchDog.lua:1189 from

SLASH_WATCHDOG1 = "/wd";

to

SLASH_WATCHDOG1 = "/watchdog";
