Gatherer   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.

For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/

INSTALLATION:
--------------
Extract the data to your "World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns" directory so that the "Gatherer" directory is a subdirectory of the "AddOns" directory.

USAGE:
--------------
Just use the game as normal.
When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map.
If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.

Slash Commands
/gather minimap (on|off|toggle) - controls the minimap tracking functionality
/gather mainmap (on|off|toggle) - controls the world map tracking functionality
/gather dist <n> - sets the minimap tracking distance to this number of units. (in game yards)
/gather num <n> - sets the maximum number of items to display (default=20, up to 50)
/gather herbs (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show herb data on the minimap")
/gather ore (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show mining data on the minimap")
/gather treasure (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show treasure data on the minimap")
/gather options - show the configuration dialog

How would you use that information? The nodes are at the same coordinates in each realm.

Forty2j,

The issue with that is that it would likely require quite an effort, with limited returns. If you are on a system with over 1GB of RAM, which you really need to run WotLK, then running Gatherer, even with a relatively "large" database loaded, should not cause any noticeable impact.

That said, we have discussed the issue before; will revisit and see if our main Gatherer developer has the time to begin such an undertaking.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Caramilla,

Sounds like your gatherer.lua, located in ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourWoWAccountName>\SavedVariables was corrupted.

Try renaming that to OLD_gatherer.lua and see if the error does not resolve.

If that works, then the file is corrupt and you will need to restore from a backup. If you do not have any backups, regardless if that is the issue this particular time, take this as a notice to start making regular backups of your entire WTF folder.

Let us know of your progress,

Nikk

Spahut,

The current menu system was developed long before Blizzard ever had any sort of options. That said, we plan to eventually move in that direction, but it will take a lot of time that is usually needed for other, more pressing, matters.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Re: please help

JDizzle,

Replied to your post at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11707-GathererDBWoWHead.html#comments .

Kindly do not post a question more than once or in multiple locations. Our volunteers have more than enough to do without addressing the same question, from the same person, multiple times.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Re: Question

Shishiopy,

As noted over on our main forums, this is almost certainly due to the new esMX localization, for which we are lacking translations.

To help speed up the process, please consider helping translate Gatherer, Auctioneer, and Enchantrix - or any combination of the options you see.

The site is http://Localizer.Norganna.Org - signing in takes just a moment and we do not use anyone's information for any nefarious purposes.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

The error with 3.1.10 has been fixed by 3.1.11. My apologies to those who lost drop data. Node location data was not effected by this bug.
