Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

Please tell me how we could fix, its very important for me.
Perl never has and never will do special menu hooks. Any error like this (especially when it happens on a patch day) just shows the quality of QA Blizzard has. Unfortunately, without doing some pretty crazy "hacks" to improve their code, there is nothing I can do to fix this. With any luck, 2.1 will correct the issue.

If you are using the latest version, you can turn the focus and party ToT frames off independently. /perl -> Focus/Party Target

As for party frame agro indicators, I don't plan on adding support for it, but there's no reason someone else couldn't make a mod that adds this functionality. If anyone ever does make some additions to Perl and they need to know how to ensure their feature doesn't get overwritten by my code, simply ask

X-Perl still maintains a set of Perl raid frames. Thanks to the author's hard work, Perl Classic and X-Perl can be run side by side if you want to use specific pieces of both mods. Also, sRaidFrames are very similar to perl raid frames.

Tank Targets

Hello,

Firstly thanks for a great mod, I prefer it over any other unit frames. The only thing I have problems with is the main tank targets. We regularly use druid tanks, and from what I can see the MT Targets only show Warriors in the raid, when sometimes we even have 2 druid tanks and a DPS Warrior ....

Is that a function that needs adding/fixing or am I not doing something right?

Regards

Perl Classic doesn't have a raid component and back when I had working Perl raid frames I didn't have a MT feature. Are you maybe thinking of X-Perl?

Is there any chance of getting at least a small bit of Fubar plugin ability?

Say like toggling the lock unlock and then just opening the config panel?

If that's already in the mod, I don't see it.

If I get *really* bored I'll make one, but someone else could just as easily make one. I'm not changing code regarding either of those aspects, so I doubt it would break if someone else did it. I wouldn't include it in the Perl zip file even if I did make one. If you want some code to base a plugin off of, check out my Atlas2 fubar plugin. It's extremely simplistic and should be a good base. It can be found here: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fo.php?id=5227

Yes, the next version will most likely have the feature included.

This is a bug that is caused due to an error in Blizzard's code. It seems to be caused by certain hotbar mods with no consistency in when it breaks the target frame. Blizzard has said this issue will be fixed in 2.1.2.

PROBABLE SECURE TEMPLATE BUG
It appears that there's a bug with the loading of AddOns that reference certain of the secure template support functions (Specifically the SecureStateDriver, but there may be others). This manifests itself as the failure of secure frame changes in combat (but they work fine out of combat). This includes:

* SecureStateHeaders driven by stances / stealth / etc failing to work in combat.
* Unit existence dependent frames failing to show or hide in combat.

How it happens
If an AddOn happens to call one of the SecureStateDriver functions (listed below) while it being initially loaded (i.e. before the player logs in), then the state drive becomes inadvertently tainted, preventing **ANY** users of that drive from operating correctly. The functions known to be affected so far are:

RegisterStateDriver
UnregisterStateDriver
RegisterUnitWatch
Use of the SecureStateDriverTemplate

How to avoid it
The easiest solution is to move the code which calls those functions or creates those frames into an event handler that fires after loading, PLAYER_LOGIN is a reasonably good choice.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...eNo=2&sid=1#38

You're calling RegisterUnitWatch in your OnLoad functions some of your frames, which is probably causing the combat issue. Switch to calling it on PLAYER_LOGIN, and you should be set.

Thanks for the heads up Tuller, guess I'm finally being forced to start using that event.
