Bongos2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.10.1
by: Tuller [More]
I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Version History
A Brief Guide

Included Addons
  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>
  • /bongos hide <barList> - Hides <barList>
  • /bongos toggle <barList> - Toggles <barList>
  • /bongos scale <barList> <scale> - Sets the scale of <barList> to <scale>
  • /bongos setalpha <barList> <opacity> - Sets the opacity of <barList> to <opacity>
  • /bongos set <profile> - Sets the current character to use <profile>
  • /bongos copy <profile> - Copies all settings from <profile>
  • /bongos delete <profile> - Deletes <profile>
  • /bongos reset - Loads default settings
  • /bongos version - Displays what version of bongos you're running
  • /keybound - Toggles keybinding mode

Have no middle-click too (doubleclick set to the middle button on my mouse, a habit of me since 10 years or so). But, i read Tullers "Also try and read the using Bongos portion of the new description" advice and voila ... "To hide or show a bar, unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it." ;-)

Thumbs up bongos718 options

asking if it's possible to bring back the Visible checkboxes for hiding/unhiding bars.

i dont have "middle click" on my mouse so the only way to hide bars is to issue the slash commands. nbd for me, but for others in my situation, it might cause some headaches

i also had to guess the "/bob help" command to produce output on the available slash commands in game. i know, RTFM! but hey, real men dont read instructions!

yarr

anyway, nice update! <3 your mods.

Thanks for the update, but as far as I can tell there is no way to remove the MiniMap button? Bongos is a great mod, which only needs to be setup once, so for me the minimap button is just wasted space, as the /bongos command is just fine for the rare times I have to make a change.

Please add an option to toggle it off

Update

Make sure to delete all your bongos folders before installing this version. All profiles are incompatible.

Also try and read the using Bongos portion of the new description, since there were significant changes made to the UI.

I believe this is new functionality implemented in the last patch. I have verified that this macro works with the standard Blizzard action bars, however Bongos does not seem to recognize when a button is left-clicked or right-clicked, and therefore this and other macros using the button:* option won't work. Any help would be appreciated, perhaps there's an option I'm not seeing, as I am still pretty new to Bongos. Otherwise, could this be implemented in the next version?
Its fixed in the next update.

Just an FYI if people were interested.

Bongos will not bind to any key you have set to take screenshot or open chat. If you want to use those keys, you must first unbind them from the keybindings menu.

Is there a means to bind the NUMPAD_ENTER to a key? It seems that, while all other input is seemingly disabled, the interface runs whatever command is bound to 'enter' regardless of Bongos being in keybinding mode.

The tooltips should tell you this, but middle click or shift + right click a bar to toggle a bar's visibility.
Great deal on both of these. Thank you.

I do have a question on that. I've not yet installed the beta (going to do it now), but will the new version work with cyCircled, or are we going to have to beg its author to redo the compatibility. Just curious because I love the look of my interface with the circles. Yeah, it's form over function, but I love them circles.
It should work in the release version, since I have not done any real renames to buttons.

I just tested the beta Tuller. It's going to take a bit of getting used to, but it's great so far. Some functionality missing that was in your previous version I'd like to see is the ability to hide the bag and menu bars. I use FuBar addons to manage these instead of having them take up screen real estate...

Thanks Bladewraith - that helps. I didn't get a chance to play around wih it last night, but your overview clears some things up for me I think. So when Bongos says you can have up to 120 action bars, it really means there are 120 buttons available that can be used to create action bars, correct?
More or less. You don't get to build bars on a button-for-button basis as Discord does it, but that's fine by me. How many bars you choose, however, determines the maximum amount of buttons per bar you can get (the only drawback, imho, to this bar package).

Also, your explanation on the bars to replace and pages to look ahead makes sense. So the first setting is the range of bars I want to replace when changing to the stance, and the page setting is merely an amount that is added to each "current" bar to find the replacement bar. Is that correct? So if I wanted to replace bars 2-4 with bars 5-7 then my first setting would be 2-4 and the page setting would be 3. I think that sounds right.
Again, my use of mutliple bars is limited nowadays (play mostly rogues and hunters now) but if memory serves, that's correct.

That leaves me with the question of what if I want to replace 2 or 3 bars in caster form with one bar in bear form?
By default, this should be how it works, if memory serves. The pages you've told be to visibile while in a set stance should stay visible only in that stance...I think. Don't quote me. Best I can recommend is try it on a quick and dirty layout (default amount of bars, don't move them around, just set up page swapping and try it with 1 icon per bar to watch the behavior).

Glad to be of help where I can. Now you've got me wanting to try some nifty stuff on one of my shelved warriors. lol

Keybindings

I recently switched from Trinity Bars to Bongo's, due to Trinity's explicably complicated handling of shapeshift forms, and the fact that I could not assign multiple keys to a single button. However, I have but one issue with Bongos. I am unable to bind buttons to the NUMPAD_ENTER key (or a modifier of this key, e.g. CTRL+NP_ENTER). It simply opens the chat input box, as though I had hit return or enter outside of keybinding.

Is there a means to bind the NUMPAD_ENTER to a key? It seems that, while all other input is seemingly disabled, the interface runs whatever command is bound to 'enter' regardless of Bongos being in keybinding mode.

My thanks in advance for any replies.

Overlapping actionbars :o

When I've enabled sticky bars my actionbars are slightly overlapping eachother, would it be possible to adjust distances between actionbars when they snap into eachother ?
Great addon otherwise

Hide Hotkey option...

Any chance you could make this togglable (I think I invented a word there, oops) per bar, rather than all on or all off?
