I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3


Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Included Addons

  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>
  • /bongos hide <barList> - Hides <barList>
  • /bongos toggle <barList> - Toggles <barList>
  • /bongos scale <barList> <scale> - Sets the scale of <barList> to <scale>
  • /bongos setalpha <barList> <opacity> - Sets the opacity of <barList> to <opacity>
  • /bongos set <profile> - Sets the current character to use <profile>
  • /bongos copy <profile> - Copies all settings from <profile>
  • /bongos delete <profile> - Deletes <profile>
  • /bongos reset - Loads default settings
  • /bongos version - Displays what version of bongos you're running
  • /keybound - Toggles keybinding mode

is there any way to get an enemy cast bar here? Blizzard offers one, but i cant turn it on and bongos on at the same time, and bongos seems to only have a self cast bar ? O_o

Bug Report:
Using any opacity setting on the minimap other than 100% (including auto fade) results in the map displaying all black in major cities, generally indoors, in instances, etc. I'm using 1.9.6 on wow ver. 2.3 of course. Note: If you want to test it yourself, you have to either move around or wait a bit before it goes black, it's not instantaneous.

While it was black for me, I disabled bongos and the map showed up again, so I'm pretty sure it's not another addon fudging with it.

1.10.0 beta is up You can grab it Here.

The bar positioning code has been redone in this version
  • All positions are saved relative to the screen edges. This means that if you change your ui scale or resolution, your bars will automatically adjust
  • With sticky bars enabled, dragging a bar near an edge of the screen will automatically stick the bar on the edge
  • With sticky bars enabled, dragging a bar to the center of any edge of the screen will automatically stick the bar to that center point.

Other than that, and a bug fix, no major changes have been made in this version. The reason it's a beta is that the code I use to automatically upgrade your setup to the new positioning code needs testing. There's a chance, though unlikely, that your bar positions will be reset.

I've noticed it with like getting on my mount, equipping a trinket etc.... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've been trying to find a mod or something that might be conflicting but so far I haven't been able to troubleshoot it definitively.

Bongos uses the standard action button template. You'd have to adjust the text manually (its button.hotkey in the bongos action button code)

Hi Tuller-

I would like to make the keybinding text a bit more readable on my laptop screen. I don't mind trolling through code, in fact I enjoy it - but I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. I could not find an area in your code that prints the keybinding text. Would I need to create a new function to override the Blizz display?

Hey Tuller... it seems that there is still an issue with buff and debuff highlighting not updating sometimes. I've noticed it with like getting on my mount, equipping a trinket etc.... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. any way Wowace updater could recognize latest bongos though?
Bongos isn't on wowace to my knowledge and thus attempting to update it through wowaceupdater would prove fruitless.

Interface action failed because of an AddOn

I kept getting "Interface action failed because of an AddOn" messages, and turned on the taint.log file. I have no idea if I should be telling you or someone else. :P

I'm using version 1.9.6.

everytime i buy new spells

Hi,

here's bongos2 error i'm getting everytime i buy myself new spells and that spell is in actionbar:

...\AddOns\Bongos_Actionbar\actionBar\button.lua:586: GetSpellName(): Invalid spell slot.

bongos version: 1.9.3
wow version: 2.3

(i'm using wowace updater for updating)

and even now i realized, there's version 1.9.6 out allready? o_O was that bug fixed though?

So here are the buff highlighting rules, if there's any confusion:

If you're targeting something you can cast stuff on, then the following rules apply
  • If its an enemy, and it has a debuff you've casted, then your debuff icon will have a purple border. Else it will have no border
  • If it's a friendly unit, and it has the buff you're looking at (it does not matter if you've casted it or not), then it will have a green border. Otherwise it will have nothing.

If you're targeting something you cannot cast on, or nothing at all, and you have a given buff, then that buff will have a green border. Otherwise it will have nothing.

Items and macros with spells should work the same way.

The range seems fine for me on my hunter... may have something to do with your class and spec (maybe it isn't recognizing a spec that changes a range of a particular spell?). Also highlighting seems ok for me on my hunter so not sure about that one. I like to isolate a suspect mod when troubleshooting so you may want to disable your other mods temporarily to see if the problem persists.

Bongos version: 1.9.6

I have an action bar set with two 6 button bars one on top of the other via sticky buttons. Right next to that, I have a 12 button bar in two rows. When I go to line them up to match using sticky buttons, the left side of the 12 button bar (two rows of six) doesn't match up exactly with the two bars to the left. The rows are slightly out of line - but very noticeable. Any tricks to get around this other than turning off sticky bars and aligning on my own?

The roll bar frame is to allow you to move and resize the roll frame (when you're in a group and see a bar appear to allow you to roll on an item). As far as moving the tooltip, there are mods that will allow you to do that. Tinytip and Cowtip are a few I can think of right now.

How to move?

Perhaps I'm a noob but I have two issues with this otherwise great mod: the "roll" bar or whatever that is seems to do absolutely nothing and this http://img171.imageshack.us/my.php?i...rissueskh8.jpg how do I move that cursed tooltip frame so it does not cover all my action bars?
