FinderReminder
Version: 1.7
by: tardmrr [More]
FinderReminder: An addon to remind finders to track the things they wish to find.

FinderRemind is an Ace Addon that reminds the user at the usual times when a tracking skill would be turned off (like after you resurrect) to turn a tracking skill back on. It presents a window with all your tracking abilities that you can click on to activate. If you're thinking "that would get real annoying in a battleground," then don't fret! FinderReminder has an option to turn off reminders while in a battleground.

FinderReminder is not just for hunters! In fact, it was written to remind herbalists and miners to not forget, but was expanded to work for hunters and other classes or races that have tracking abilities.

Big thanks to Cair for helping me test this with a hunter since I don't have one.

Copy pasted from a bug report:

Can the popup be set to use the UI's scale? Currently I have the UI set to the smallest scale, and the popup looks HUGE.

Love the mod otherwise, can't actually live without it.

That's because the trunk is now the TBC version. Use the version posted here (or checkout from tags) for live.

Problem with new version

My bugsack picked this up after the new update from the SVN:

[2006/11/25 21:53:51-6-x1]: FinderReminder\FinderReminder.lua:113: unexpected symbol near `#'
and also this one

[2006/11/25 21:53:51-6-x1]: FinderReminder\SpellButtonClass.lua:2: attempt to index global `FinderReminder' (a nil value)

Ah, cool. I don't suppose you could just post a quick-fix here, ie: what to change in which file? No need for newbie tutorials (Open Start, Click All Programs, ... lol).

Prehaps a Frama Strata problem, where the dialog box is appearing in front of the buttons?

If you have a conditional that makes the buttons unclickable, you could remove it, since we can change tracking skills, etc in combat.

Yes, it's on my todo list; I just haven't gotten around to it. I'm currently testing a fix for the unclickable button issue which is proving to be a pain since I've never seen the issue personally and must rely on user reports. Once I have that done, I'll convert to Ace2.

  • What version are you using?
  • Are you using a French or German game client?

All I can do is close the dialog and cast 'Find Herbs' manually. I went through the code, but I can't locate the source of the problem. I guess you know it better than me, so I report it here.

I have HideInBGs enabled.
