MetaMap  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 20100-2
by: MetaHawk [More]

DESCRIPTION:
============
MetaMap adds features to the WoW world map, keeping all mapping type features in a single place.
Some features are:

Adjust the map window size.
Move the map anywhere on the screen.
Adjust the opacity of the window & maps.
Saved sets for toggling between 2 map modes.
Allows full player movement, messaging, etc. with map open.
Adds coords to the main map and the Minimap
Adds Instance maps which open to the correct instance you enter.
Default data included for all bosses & locations etc.
User editable notes for all maps, including instance maps.
NPC/Mob database collectable by mouseover or keypress.
Toggling on/off display of unexplored areas of the map.
Boss Loot Tables displays all the loot dropped by bosses, and more.
Waypoint system to guide you to any set point.
Complete Quest logger with optional history database.
Tracker module for gathering Herbs/Ores etc.
NoteBook module for additional notes, linked to Tooltips.
Inbuilt Import and export facilities for various data formats.
Inbuilt Backup and Restore facilities.
Button on Minimap to open or close the World Map or display MetaMap options.
Key bindings for various MetaMap functions.
Full support for Titan Bar.

INSTALLATION:
=============
Extract ALL folders in the archive to the Interface\AddOns\ location. If you wish the Instance maps to be populated with default information, then on first installation you will need to select 'Extended Options' from the MetaMap menu.
Select the 'Database' tab, then click 'Load Imports'. This will enable the default import button, 'Import Instance Notes'. Click on the 'Import' button to import the data.

ISSUES/COMPATIBILITIES:
=======================
Some addons may reset the map to gather location data.
If your map continuously jumps back to your current location when selecting another map,
it will be due to another addon resetting it. In most cases the authors have made changes
to correct this so, download the latest version of any conflicting addon.

Added frame level adjust for TitanBar button. Works correctly again now.
MetaMapTRK now saves options seperately for each character.
...(Currently looking at changing the map routines, which is likely to take some time).
...(Thought i'd get these fixes out in the meantime).

MetaMap has no other dependancies so no, no other addon is needed for anything.
If you are sure the module is active, and you have selected the options to track whatever. Then it's most likely due to a Tooltip addon preventing the tracker from determining the node name from the tooltip.

Gathering tracker problem

Having a couple problems with the gathering tracker:

1. when i load the tracker display, it dumps the db contents to my chatlog... wthy and how do i turn it off? it's rather useless to see.

2. the tracker display actually shows nothing bu ------ -------- -------------. Where's the node data hiding?

Second, is there a way to auto mark quest npcs on the main map? I've quite a few chars to level with the expansion. They're all doing the same quests, so it would be nice to not have to remember where a quest npc is located, and where hidden quests can be found. Once a quest is received, i'd like to have the npc flagged on the map. Sure it can be cluttered, but it can also be filtered. Is this possible without tagging each quest individually?

Third, I get an error often, when attempting to use the map:
Metamap.lua:1010:attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'centerX' (a nil value)
EDIT: This seems to be a conflict with Gatherer.

Because it's not meant to stick. The modules are LOAD-ON-DEMAND, so don't load, or use any memory until you actually call them by selecting a related option on the menu. If you do need to have a module on all the time, simply select to Always Load the specific module at startup in the Modules section of Options.

It's weird how my map doesn't keep track of the ores for mining. I turned on every options that relate to tracking, same as quest givers etc... (I read through the help option... but I think I need to read it again to make sure. However, it'd be great if you could answer this as well. Thanks)

Also, I was wondering how do you change the opacity of just the window not the entire window/map itself? because there is no option to that in the extended option. Just the opacity for the window+map.

No I don't have any frame moving mod. What I'm guessing was due to the simpleminimap. However, when I use th reload ui button in the MetaMap option, I was able to use MetaMap afterward.

User data can be exported for all the MetaMap modules, which in turn can be imported by any other user. There is already a data file compiled by someone for download on WorldofWar.net for the WKB module, and I have a data file for the TRK module in the Beta section of MetaMap, also on WorldofWar. Someone did mention there was one also for the QST module with quests, but can't recall where that was offhand.

Has existed in MetaMap for a long time. Command line of /qnote. See the Help secion in the Extended Options for parameters. Alternatively, set the Keybinding for it in the System Keybindings, and it will pop up a small input screen with various options.

I was a user of gatherer for a long while and made the switch to cartographer a few months ago.

I tried out metamap and like some of the functions alot, however I did like the marking nodes etc on cart and also diplaying on the minimap that cartographer would do. This removed any need I had for gatherer. I had the quest giver etc addons for cart as well.

I have noticed the nodes on the map however they are quite large in comparison but nothing on the minimap.

Is this function available in Metamap?

Is the auto marking of quest givers eetc also available?

Like them both alot and torn between the two.
Well, the MetaMapTRK module does all the auto-gathering for you and marks them on the main map. The Minimap will be included in a future version, once I can sit down and ensure it's done without to much impact on performance.

MetaMapQST will log all your quests, and can be optionally stored in a history database. It also records the questgiver/completers, and has options to mark either on the main map, which can then be further set as a Minimap marker.

The MetaMapWKB module expands on NPCs even further, by allowing all to be captured to another database, which also includes Mobs and Players, which can also be set to the map in the same way.

I swear, I tried to figure this out for 45 minutes! Apparently I just breezed right by the obvious! Thank you so much for taking the time to help me, in addition to this great addon!

One more question, and then I will be out of your hair forever (probably)! Does this addon support importing from MapNotes? I see the import funtion, but am unable to get it to recognize any data from MapNotes. Perhaps there is something I need to do in MapNotes first. Either way, it isn't a deal breaker; this addon is excellent.

Thank you again!
Strange how it's always the obvious you miss.

MetaMap used to import the old MapNotes but, with all the Zone changes, as well as MetaMap format changes, this is no longer a viable option.
