Recipe Radar  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.403
by: kernighan, ladenedge

Recipe Radar assists players in finding recipes. It knows about vendors who sell recipes in the current region or by profession. It has a number of filtering options and can even locate vendors on the world map.

Classic version available at: https://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info25229-RecipeRadarClassic.html

Tips:

  • There are two "tabs": the main "radar" tab and one that searches by profession!
  • You can bind a key to Recipe Radar through the main menu!
  • There are lots of filtering options - use the dropdowns to customize Recipe Radar!
  • Some internal maps are inaccurate at this time, it is currently a work in progress to fix these up.

ladenedge, do you know tekkubs's FuBar_DebugProfiler?
I used it to have a look at my addons processing time and memory usage and I noticed that RR produces an enomrmous memory footprint/increase in memory with it's OnUpdate function.
Would you mind trying his addon to improve the performance?

wrt the update: I'll try it when the servers are back online

Bleh, sorry for the long delay in the German fixes.

I'm hoping that your SVN trouble was the result of an encoding issue in the transfer, as I haven't heard anything about encoding changes in-game. I'll cross my fingers for a working distro and if it fails I'll revert to escape codes.

Thanks again for the links - very helpful!

OK, I took the latest changes from svn and it seems that there is a problem with German umlaute in zone names resulting in the addon not being able to show the recipes for these zones :/

There is a way to batch cache the recipes: create a hidden tooltip and then set it to the items. This will result in the client trying to chache the item but could lead to a disconnect as it is with mouseover right now.

wrt the new 1.11 deDE zone names: http://dragonnoir.dr.funpic.de/diverses/Bild3.jpg
I've found this pic in the gatherer forums, in this thread: http://norganna.org/bb/index.php?showtopic=923&st=40

one small request: could you remember if a vendor has been auto-mapped and remove him once you notice that the reason for mapping him has vanished, eg the player has learned the recipes?

Elkano speaks the truth. In addition, WoW seems to require that an item can be retrieved from the server (cached) only when the user takes an action (eg. a mouseover). That is to say that there is no way (that I know of) to cache all of the recipes through some kind of batch operation - you have to mouseover each icon individually.

I did include the "expand all" option in the 1.6 context menu to make this a bit easier, though.

Thanks again for finding that icon bug, Elkano - I've fixed it, I think, for 1.7.

BTW, I understand there are several new translations in the DE client - eg. "Stranglethorn" is now "Schlingendorntal" - do you know of any of these that are relevant to Recipe Radar? (Region names are the important ones.)

Thanks for the explanation

looks like 1.6 now runs fine on deDE
only thing not working I noticed so far are the list icons in radar mode. This was broken before, too. I'll have a look if I can find a fix

/€dit: ok, you are assigning icons by name using the skills name. But you only have icons for the English names
Maybe you should convert all the internal stuff to language independent strings and than map these to the correct language whne they are output in any way.

Okay, Elkano - I've tried to fix up the German translation a bit according to your suggestions. One thing I didn't change was the capitalization on 'wandernder' and 'saisonaler', as I wanted these to be in title case. Also, it would be inconsistent to capitalize 'Quest' in this case too, I think, as it's being used as an adjective rather than a noun.

I also added a couple of new strings: "Collapse All" and "Expand All". Let me know if the German versions suck!

Thank you, by the way, for finding that bug - I've used your idea to hopefully resolve this confusion once and for all.

ok, the following strings are for an update of deDE 1.5 localization: (you are missing soe strings in the file thatare used by the addon, eg "Inapplicable Professions")
RecipeRadar_Strings["Auto-select Current Region"] = "Automatisch aktuelle Zone w\195\164hlen"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Check Availability for Alts"] = "Verwendbarkeit f\195\188r Alts pr\195\188fen"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Minimap Button Position"] = "Position des Minimap-Buttons"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Show Minimap Button"] = "Minimap-Button anzeigen"
RecipeRadar_Strings["%d learnable"] = "%d lernbar"
RecipeRadar_Strings["not yet seen this item, you"] = "Rezept noch nicht gesehen hat"
RecipeRadar_Strings["No recipes for sale in this region."] = "Keine Rezepte zum Verkauf in dieser Region."
RecipeRadar_Strings["Already Known (Alts)"] = USED.." (Alts)"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Already Known (Player)"] = USED.." (Spieler)"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Available Now (Alts)"] = AVAILABLE.." (Alts)"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Available Now (Player)"] = AVAILABLE.." (Spieler)"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Future Prospect (Alts)"] = UNAVAILABLE.." (Alts)"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Future Prospect (Player)"] = UNAVAILABLE.." (Spieler)"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Inapplicable Professions"] = "nicht vorhandene Berufe"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Availability"] = "Verwendbarkeit"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Already Known By:"] = USED.." f\195\188r:"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Future Prospect For:"] = UNAVAILABLE.." f\195\188r:"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Available For:"] = AVAILABLE.." f\195\188r:"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Intermittent"] = "zeitweiliger"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Quest"] = "Quest"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Roving"] = "wandernder"
RecipeRadar_Strings["Seasonal"] = "saisonaler"

WRT the filter bug: it's still present I'll try to look over the code, maybe I'm able to find sth.

€dit: could it be that the bug is related to nonlocalized prefession names used in some places and localized in others? eg RecipeRadar_Options.CurrentProfession is initialized to "Cooking" instead of RRS["Cooking"].

€dit²: ok, maybe I'm on the right way. in the data tables, your recipes type isn't localized. I'll check if that's what causing the filters not to work on non en clients.

€dit³: I was right localizing these seems to fix most of the filter bugs.

* On the German translation

Yeah, sorry Elkano, I had to try and integrate your deDE translation with another from DJMars on Curse. I was afraid I would end up screwing up both! I did put your most recent suggestions in v1.5, though. If there are other obvious errors, do let me know!

* On filtering

In v1.5 I've tried some new things with regard to filtering that I hope will fix your problem again. Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to nail down why it was happening to you, so I can't be sure. I took your excellent suggestion to add a specific filter for nonapplicable professions, and I'll hold your other suggestions for future versions. Please let me know if any problems remain.

* On the ReagentCost error

Well, I can't reproduce this bug, and on looking at the RC code I can't imagine a) how this could be related to the RR minimap mouseover, and b) how it could have happened at all. Perhaps, fred, you could supply a little more info? Like which trade skill windows you had open, which region you were in, which vendors you had mapped? Anything you can think of, really - also can you reproduce the bug?
