Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.


Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.

  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.

Thank you for this addon, I've found it very helpful in conveying combat log information more clearly. :>

I do have two requests that would make things even smoother for me:
  • Allow filtering of spells per scroll area, rather than globally.
  • Instead of just a Suppression filter, the ability to choose between Whitelist (only show these spells) and Blacklist (show everything except these spells) would make setting up some scroll areas much faster.

In my specific example, I'm playing a Fire Mage. I need to see when Pyroblast crits, but I do not need to see the ticks of the Pyroblast dot. However, if I Suppress Pyroblast, I won't see ticks or crits (because WoW treats it as one spellid).

So if I could tell MSBT:
  • 'Dot Ticks' scroll area: "Blacklist: Don't show Pyroblast, Don't show Living Bomb"
  • 'Crits' scroll area: "Whitelist: Show Pyroblast, Show Fireball"
it would help filter out a lot of distracting information. You can sort-of emulate this with Triggers, but those don't have the nice effect of coloring damage and effect name separately.

Hi. Is it possible to play with the Merge Swings option?
I'd like to have more swings merged, with only one message per 2-3 seconds (as a rogue, I'm really spammed by Melee swings).

I have found a line (51) in MSBTMain (local MERGE_DELAY_TIME = 0.3), but modifying it changes the merge delay time for *every* action and spells, which I do not want.

Trigger animation

Hi Mik,
first of all i want ot thank you for this wonderfull add-on.
Let's get straight to the point:
How do i make a trigger effect to remain on screen untill the trigger event is weared off?
I'll explain it better i have a druid (balance) i really like how your add-on show the eclipse status but i would like to have the moon/sun , that apper when you reach the eclipse , to remain untile the buff is expired.
Is there anyway to achive this?
At the moment i have the moon/sun icon on the center (moon in a bit left and sun is a bit right) of the screen for some seconds after i have reched eclipse but the it goes off even if i'm still in eclipse.

Skill Suppression

Hey Mik,

Was just wondering if something's wrong with the Spam Control > Skill Suppression filter? Or perhaps I'm just missing something which is totally possible ofc.

So for example, I suppressed deadly and instant poison, worked a charm. Yesterday I came up with a couple of new triggers and new areas, wanted to suppress stuff like Master of Subtlety, Premeditation etc, but it didn't really work. After a reload, the first started working, only not to work again later on... The second never got to work. I was about to add 10 more but since it didn't really work out, I'd like to figure what's wrong first.

No LUA errors or anything just doesn't suppress. Any suggestion?

Sound File Question...

First off, I love this addon. It's definitely a must in my addon library for sure. I've recently undergone trying to add custom sound effects to the game to make combat more interesting for me. My question is, is it possible to have the addon choose randomly from a list of multiple sound files instead of just a single file? For instance, I'd like to have sound effects for crits, but since I play as a rogue and crit pretty often, just one single sound file gets old quick.

Honor Gains

Is there a way to get your honor amount gains to show up in the notification area? Right now I have it checked with the message being +%a Honor - but this is not working. Does anyone know if this can be changed to get it working? and if so to what?

Question need help

hello every1 i have unresolved problem and hope your help, i am using msbt already 2 years but had no clue what can be done in msbt. recently i saw the ui trailer where dots like dk's diseases blood plague and others where separate from normal dmg like swings and skill damage, in outgoing scroll areas were only skill damage like blood strike, plague strike and others and in DOT scroll area was only diseases, and i cant separate skill damages and dots pls help will apriciate your work , and also want to know same about hots. and if you can make vid about it , tanks in advance

Is there a way to emphasize crits other than making them in a larger font size? I want to frame them in asterisks (*425* as crit, 425 as normal).

Hi, first of all LOVE this addon don't ever quit uppdating this:P! Now to my problem, can u some how remove the name of the target that hit you? i Only want 7000 (3000 blocked) not Majordomo 7000(3000 blocked), i hope u get the idea!

Additional scrolling areas

Hey!

I know I can create additional Scroll Areas, but for some reason, I cannot add events to the new scrolling area.

What I want to do, is to have my normal damage in one scrolling area, and my crits in a new scrolling area beside it.

Is there any way to achieve this?

I have been using this addon for quite a while now and noticed this in the change log recently "Added logic to detect and merge off-hand strikes with main hand strikes".

I've recently gone back to playing my deathknight and have noticed that sometimes strikes don't get merged, often when one or both halves critically hit. Also is there a way to trigger this merging for Scourge strike's two halves as well?
