Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.


Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.

Is it possible to restrict a trigger to only when spells are cast on me?

E.g. Mana Burn on me instead of seeing Mana Burn on any teammate?

It all depends on what sound files you have added to shared media lib, either manually or through other mods.
I suggest you read MSBT's FAQ on adding sound files directly to MSBT as it might work out better for you.


Vyril:

Spell reflect shows the damage done by the reflect as if it were damage you did. I'm going to put the actual reflect message back in as well with the next version.


Blacky:

The icons are whatever Blizzard assigns to them, and being as how Blizzard likes to reuse icons for certain things just as they do gear models, it's not uncommon to see some repeated ones.

Hi. I have some problemes with skill icons. When my lightning shield does damage, MSBT shows the lightning icon. When my reflective shield does damage, MSBT shows the smite icon. What about this ?

Ive been having a problem getting it to show what I spell reflect. I have the box checked in 'Events' that says; 'Skill Reflects' - and I changed it to show it in the outgoing rather than incoming through the edit tools (even with it in default setting it wasnt working) and it still doesn't show what im reflecting. Is there a fix for this?

It seems, that i can't get MSBTSharedMedia to work. I wanted to add a sound to Nightfall! but i only had the otions for the BigWigs-sounds available. Befor the patch i had the cheer sound when i was in shadowtrance. Is there anything i can do to get it to work?

Is it possible to have a trigger that only activates if the affected unit is friendly to me?

From what I have seen now I can either chose "All" or "Hostile only". There is no party only/raid only/friendly only.

For example, in arena, I want to see when a Viper sting is casted on someone in my team but not when my hunter casts it on someone in the other team.

That's an interesting idea, but I think tracking of enemy cooldowns is better left to mods that are designed specifically for that purpose. If you haven't seen it, you might want to check out afflicted or something similar. I believe it lets you specify which cooldowns you want to see as well.

I believe I've read somewhere that Witchhunt is the cause of that and it has an option for current target only or similar.

I've been using Mik's for awhile now and have nothing but priase for it. However after re-installing wow and updating my addons again I installed the latest version and unfortunately it seems to be causing a problem.

It works great but the problem is, it's also telling me not only my combat, it's also scrolling all the players and npcs within range of me. Going to the isle for example is almost spam city as every single action that any npc or player does is shown on my screen.

Is there any way to show only what I or my pet do? Maybe its just a simple click and I'm missing it.

First, I just want to say that this is by far my favorite addon, particularly the custom trigger events and the ability to add sound features to them.

I saw that you are currently building a new trigger event system and it sounded like you will have functionality to track instant cast spells/abilities in it. So, I was wondering if you had considered adding to it the ability to track the cooldowns associated with the custom triggers that you add. For example:

Trigger event: Priest uses Psychic Scream
Response event: 30s later MSBT displays a message informing you that his CD is up and plays an optional attached sound file.

Another possibility might be to incorporate an option to use Natur's Enemycastbar functionality with it to track cooldowns. For example:

Trigger event: Warrior uses his Pummel
Response event: MSBT sets an optional NECB timer using the custom timer command(/necb countsec <seconds> <name>) which would be:
/necb countsec 10 Pummel

That doesn't sound like it's coming from MSBT. It is possible another mod is outputting that message using MSBT though.

You'd have to modify the lua files directly. Probably the easiest way would be to open MSBTMain.lua and find:

Put a -- in front of the if to comment it out. Keep in mind this will make it never show the merge trailer for anything.

Mutilate/Combined data

First off, love the mod. The only thing I've been unable to figure out is if there's any way to remove the "2 Hits/2 Crits" message at the end of a combined Mutilate scroll. I really like the mod being able to combine the two into one figure, but the message gets extremely long with the hit/crit area. Is there any way (even if it involves editing the .lua file) to have combined Mutilates show the number and nothing else?

A minor request, I know, but it would be helpful to keeping my screen as clear as possible. Thanks again Mikrod!
