Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.


Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.

Did BT today and f.e. Shadowmoon Reaver mobs (before Teron) spam the screen with
"Shadowmoon Reaver: [Chaotic Charge]"
and Shadowmoon Soldier fill it with
"Shadowmoon Soldier: [Defensive Aura]"

Maybe something I've changed, but havn't toyed that much with MSBT yet so most are at default settings.

Is it possible to get a Throttle for the Mob Emote function? I can turn it off, but its fairly useful. Thing is that some mobs in Hyjal or BT spam the area with emotes at certain times, I'll try to remember which mob next reset.

Many thanks Mik! With your addon and with the full sound support (well ok the current one should work too, though I never mucked around with mpq extractor yet and got trouble finding the sound files lol) We can get rid heaps of addons, REALLY a lot! Like I use combosound for rogues, additional addon for showing poisons applied, etc... I could just add events/triggers for this baby now and all shows up and sounds up instanely handy way. Just great absolutelly exciting.

Love this mod so far. The configuration is something I'm really liking vs the other mods I've tried so far.

And I think I have an issue like Muckie. I'd love to be able to see my incoming damage taken as completely red instead of us a red "-" symbol. Is there an option I'm missing to change it to being completely red or do I need to edit the code?

Mind you, I've never edited code so there might be a follow up n00b question if I do

I just got converted from SCT over your addon I love it and can do much more than SCT, amazing! Thank you very much making it!

Question:
Could I use the built-in wow sound for the events pls? For instance I always loved to hear the SHEATHINGMETALWEAPONUNSHEATHE and SHEATHINGMETALWEAPONSHEATHE built in sound when I got agro. Also I would love to use some built-in sounds for lowhealth and lowmana. Is this possible withouth modifying anything and mucking in the mpq files and putting them in the addon dir?

Yes, you can modify the code to do it.

In MSBTMain.lua, find the following:

Isn't it possible (for me) to change in the code in some way so that it shows as before? (Ofcourse i will only use this for my self)
Becuase i have used this addon far to long and i dont use the icons, im very used to the old coloring thingy, much appriciated if it could be done.

I just updated my MSBT addon and one thing im a bit dissappointed with.
When i use lets say... Heroic Strike with my warrior the damage text is yellow i'll show you an example of how it was before, and how it was now;

Before:
642 [Heroic Strike]

Now:
642 [Heroic Strike]

I want the amount of damage to be shown in white and the skill name in yellow for physical attacks.

With caster-spells everything works fine, the damage text is dark purple for Shadow bolts and skill name is yellow
Problem is when i change the skill color to white, it goes white.

is there anyway of solving this problem?

And...great addon btw

The only thing I can think of is the search pattern you use has to match whatever your combat log says in German. I'm positive that they work with the German client since that has been tested.

If you send me a PM with the exact combat log message, I should be able to give you a working pattern.

I'll have to look into the overheal. As far as I know it should be showing overheal for each jump that it does so long as the players being healed are in your party/raid.

As far as windfury, unfortunately if you look at the combat log the first attack is not the same as the 2 hits that follow it. Because merging has to be generic to avoid code bloat and the need for specifically coding for new skills as Blizzard adds them, it's limited in that regard. With the coming of Patch 2.4, Blizzard is redoing the whole combat log, so it's quite possible this would no longer be an issue at that point.

Merge exclusions

Hi,

I've recently switched from sct to msbt, and it takes some getting used to.

I play a shaman, and 2 things that seem to handle very weirdly:

1: This entire throttle thing seems a bit weird for me, my chain heal comes out in 1 big number. As far as I can see, I'm supposed to just add it to merge exclusions, but then it doesn't show what part of each jump is an overheal. Quite annoying really, is this a bug? It's quite important for me to be able to see each jump and how much was overhealing for each.

2: Windfury: When the windfury is tallied up, it seems to only include the 2 extra attacks, not the attack that actually procs windfury, which is what shamans refer to as their total windfury damage (i.e. a 500 hit procs 2 hits of 1000 each should come up with a total of 2500, not 2000). We like big numbers, could this be fixed?

As you said, the event type is CHAT_MSG_SPELL_BREAK_AURA.
Oki, i did that, still no message im using the German Client, do you think that has something to do with this?

But as i said, the MSBT Search works, it shows the SPELL BREAK AURA string and which Buff was dispelled + the name of the Target.

Any other Idea maybe?

Make a new trigger. Set the main condition type to search pattern. The parameter should be something like (.+) is removed from .+. I'm not sure of the exact combat log message for the dispel, but I think that is close. Then you can set the output message to %1 Dispelled or something similar.
