Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.


Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.

Hello all,

I wanted to give a quick status update of MSBT 5.0.

It is currently under heavy development. The code is being completely rewritten to make it use even less memory and much less CPU resources. Blizzard's addition of memory and CPU tracking tools to the API have made this possible. Obviously, since it's not completely done yet, I don't have the final numbers, but the majority of the core is done and it's looking like it will be somewhere around 255KiB and about an overall 55% CPU utilization drop.

There are significant upgrades to the level of control over what is displayed with several brand new spam controls including thresholds for healing and power amounts as commonly requested. The suppression system has been removed and rolled into the new spam controls so it should be far easier to use than previously. This means suppressing things like Vampiric Embrace / Touch spam is far easier.

There will also be several new customizable events including built-in cooldown notifications. A new "Static" animation style has been created, and the cooldown notifications use it by default.

I will mostly be foregoing spell icons for all spells this release because it can't currently be done with any degree of memory efficiency. It would add something like 800k to maintain the mappings for multiple languages. I don't feel like that one feature is worth increasing the mod's size close to 4 times. That said, I know it is a desired feature, and I will most likely provide a separate plugin for those who have the extra machine power and don't mind the bulk.

There are quite a few other changes as well, but I'll leave those for the official release.

I realize it has been a while since the last update. Unfortunately my time has been rather limited, but hopefully 5.0 will be ready to release within the next couple of weeks.

You would just need to go to the events tab and edit the various output messages. Remove the event code for spell names.

There is no way to separate the Mutilate damage from being merge at the moment. For mace stun, you'd need to create a new trigger. I think that one would be a target debuff main condition type with a parameter of "Stun".

If you look back through the posts here, I provided instructions on how to add a trigger for them. Naturally, you would have to modify the text to match what the combat log says in German though.

Hello, I've been using this mod for a looooong time now, I like it way more than SCT, but I have a few questions/problems.

1. How do I make the damage for example of Mutilate, come out as (Example) 500 (main Hand) 300 (offhand) and not 800 Both hits?

2. Mace stun. I know SCT has a message that pops up saying "Mace stun!" when it procs, how can I make this mod do that? I've tried adding triggers etc but no luck.

Hi I'm trying this mod instead of SCT and only option I can't find is turning my outgoing spell name off. Is there and option for this..All I'd like to see is the damage I'm doing to the target.

MSBT doesn't currently support incoming pet events.

Surince:

Suppressions work on that text that is actually displayed. I noticed you have the spell names removed from the output, so there is no spell name in the output for it to match and consequently suppress. This is a limitation of v4.12. There is going to be more flexibility for this in v5.0.

Hi there. First of all i absolutely love this mod and my sct is now collecting dust in my attic. Now I'm having issues suppressing my Vampiric Embrace and Shadowmend heals. I don't know why as I've followed your instructions exactly. I'm setting suppressions for:
"Vampiric Embrace"
and
"Shadowmend"

Hopefully I'm not violating any rules, but I've also taken screenshots to show you my setting & what's happening in combat:

Unfortunately there is no way to disable the default XP text. It's not a part of their FCT, it's actually a part of the 3D world that mods can't touch without CVars. The game doesn't have a CVar to control that XP display though and is why MSBT has the event is disabled by default. Maybe if enough people request Blizzard to add a CVar to control it like you already can the game damage healing, they would implement it.

As far as icons go, I'm currently working on finishing up version 5.0 which adds a lot of commonly requested features and drops memory and CPU utilization quite a bit since it's a total rewrite. I want to finish that up before I focus on the icon problem.

The current problem with the icons is that you have to maintain mappings for every spell in every supported language since the API functions only work for spells you have in your spell book. Those mappings would take something like 3-4 times the amount of memory that the entire mod currently takes. I'll probably end up making a "plugin" style mod that adds support for it since it's so bulky for one feature.
