MikScrollingBattleText  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 5.7.131
by: Mikord [More]
Announcements:
  • Version 5.7.131 fixes the font changing issue introduced by Patch 5.4.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

I've found all of them on http://dafont.com

So I think they're freely distrabutable.

For Parrot?

Yes, I 've done that, but how would I supress the original buff while still being able to see the new buff. If I use the same format (which I want to do) as the rest of my buffs, Such as [Haste], when I try to supress the original buff, it supresses the trigger as well.

Thanks for the quick response

Ariden:

In the current version, the only control over crits is their font style, size, outline. I do plan to change that though so crits can be individually controlled. However, if Mutilate gets merged and only one of the hits is a crit, it would still be based off a non-crit event type.

Roadster:

Without knowing your search pattern, I can't tell you exactly, but I'll try to point you in the right direction. In your search pattern make sure you have the %d+ that refers to the actual amount of the crit surrounded by () so that amount is captured. Then in your output message you'd use %1 to display that captured amount.

Geno:

No, you can't turn off white damage event merging. As far as individual buff colors, yes, you could create a trigger for the specific buff and set that trigger's color to whatever you want.

Just a couple of quick questions

Is it possible to have white damage not throttle? and is it Possible to recolor individual buff gains/losses?

Thanks in advance, keep up the good work

I'm trying to create a trigger that shows crits in a separate scrolling area. For the life of me I can not get it to actually display the amount of the crit. Can anyone help?

What exactly do I need to put in the output box so it will show the actual amount of damage done by the crit?

Crit color

I just tried out the mod earlier today, mainly because it combines Mutilate into 1 event. My question is how would I make it so that critical damage is shown with a separate color instead of a different font size? And then how would I make that apply to Mutilate if even just one of the hits was a crit?

Not sure if this is possible, since I don't really have any experience with code, but hopefully you can point me in the right way.

Tofa:

You would have to make a search pattern trigger for something like "is afflicted by Sunder Armor (5)" and pick the appropriate event type, which is most likely CHAT_MSG_SPELL_PERIODIC_CREATURE_DAMAGE.

Vorlon:

No. Whenever you disable MSBT, it re-enables Blizzard's default FCT. I'm confused why you would be enabling and disabling it on a regular basis (you could create a separate profile that has different things enabled for various situations), but if you prefer to disable and it is something that you do all the time you could always create a macro to disable MSBT with its console command and then disable Blizzard's FCT with script.

Code:
/msbt disable
/script SHOW_COMBAT_TEXT = "0"; CombatText_UpdateDisplayedMessages();

Is there an option I am missing somewhere?

Whenever I uncheck "Enable Mik's Scrolling Battle Text", the default Blizzard Floating combat text is turned on. Is there a way to make this not happen.

There are times I want to disable the mod, but then I have to go to the advanced options and turn off the default blizzard one as well.

So is there an option I am missing or is it possible to change it so this does not happen?

Number of debuffs

I am trying to replicate the "Full sunder" message from Scrolling combat Text. Is there any way to make a filter that counts the number of application of a debuff?

What I want is a message on 5xSunder Armor

Poprocks:

I'll probably put it in, but the main reason it isn't currently in is because due to the way that Blizzard reports pet DoTs there is no way to tell if the DoTs are really your pets or not. Usually your pet has a unique name and it wouldn't be an issue, but if say two hunters next to each other decided to both name their scorpions "Scorpy", you would get the DoTs reported from both pets since there would be no way to distinguish the two. At any rate I'll most likely add it, and have it disabled by default.

Azimon:

I can appreciate your suggestion, but I'd rather not add the overhead of four additional libraries (SML depends on AceLibrary and AceEvents which in turn depends on AceOO) to the core mod for something that can already be done in less than a minute by modifying the MSBTFonts.lua file as per the included readme. Any fonts that are available to WoW can be added there and will be available to MSBT.

Fonts

Even though you've chosen not to go the Ace2 route with MSBT (which I'm totally okay with), do you think it would be possible to add support for SharedMedia/SharedMediaLib? I prefer MSBT's functionality over SCT, but SCT has an edge with it's support of SharedMedia. SharedMedia would significantly increase the number of fonts available to MSBT.

My pet scorpid's poison, doesn't appear when it's applied. Only melee hits from the pet and Kill Command will show. I have every pet option on, and it won't show. Any plans to fix this?
