Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.


Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.

Is it possible to show complete overhealing? For example, if the target is already at 100% and you heal that target at 100% then the overheal does not show. It seems to only show if the target has lost some health to begin with.

I'll be adding outgoing pet "DoTs" in version 5.0 (disable by default), but in the mean time here is a trigger that will work for it.

Trigger Classes: Hunter
Main Conditions: Search Pattern - suffers (%d+) Nature damage from PetName's Scorpid Poison.
Secondary Conditions: None
Trigger Event Types: CHAT_MSG_SPELL_PERIODIC_CREATURE_DAMAGE
Output Message: Pet %1 (Scorpid Poison)

Replace "PetName" in the search pattern with your pet's name.


The main reason I didn't put them in the current version is due to the way Blizzard reports pet DoTs, it is impossible to be 100% sure that the damage is coming from your pet or just another unit with the same name as your pet. Unfortunately there is no way around this for the time being.

Hey Mikord I'm trying to put Scorpid Poison on my outgoing text but am having a little trouble. I made a trigger named Scorpid Poison. Main condition is Search Pattern: scorpid poison. And my event type is CHAT_MSG_SPELL_PERIODIC_CREATURE_DAMAGE.

What it does it say "Scorpid Poison" on the scrolling text and in my chat box it shows the damage, is there any way to get the damage to scroll instead of going into the chat box?

Pet DoTs aren't in the current version. I'll have an event for them in version 5.0. In the mean time you could can create a trigger for it.

As far as Multi-shot that's pretty much the same answer. 5.0 will have a way to do that, but you currently can't.

missing events

MSBT is not showing damage from "wild" mobs, for example those on the Achimonde and Illidan encounters, these include Doomfire, Demon Fire, and Blaze.

The event is:

Blaze hits you for 3750 Fire Damage. (1250 resisted)
CHAT_MSG_SPELL_CREATURE_VS_SELF_DAMAGE

Hey guys, great mod. I just have a few questions.

I'm a hunter, for some reason I cannot get this mod to show the damage that my pet's scorpid poison is doing. It is a DoT ability, so maybe pet DoT spell abilities haven't been put in yet.

Last question, how do you make it so whenever my Multi Shots hit multiple people, the mod doesn't combine the damage into one huge number? I'd like to see what each individual shot hit for.

I'm probably missing something in the options, but is there a way to have thorns damage showup in the outgoing area?

Edit: I see that it is showing, just as normal melee damage. What im looking for is for it to show like this: THORNS (damage done). Is this possible at all?

After deleting a scroll area another addon was trying to send a message with, getting error on line 1499: Attempt to index scrollAreaSettings

Changing 1499 to

if not scrollAreaSettings or (scrollAreaSettings.Disabled) then

fixes.

There is only one mod I'm aware of that causes problems with MSBT, and then it's only on non-English clients. That would be the SW_FixLogStrings module of SW_Stats. It makes changes to the global variables that control combat messages and causes mods that rely on those strings (including MSBT) to not receive what it is expecting.

You can also disable all your mods temporarily and only leave MSBT loaded to see if that is the case. If you find out that some other mod is causing your problems, please PM me to let me know. Thanks.

There is no combat log message associated with entering and leaving combat, so you wouldn't be able to make a trigger for it. However, as geno already pointed out, I do have it planned for version 5.0 to allow sounds for all events instead of only triggers. I'm currently working on that version, but unfortunately I haven't had as much time available as I'd like and is why the next version is taking longer than I'd planned.

It's a rather large rewrite that I've been working closely with the new memory and CPU APIs provided by Blizzard to make it more compact and efficient. Basically I'm saying good things are in the works.

My best guess is to make sure that the two directories in the zip file are directly in the Addons directory and not under a subdirectory of it.
