Version: 5.7.131
by: Mikord [More]
Announcements:
  • Version 5.7.131 fixes the font changing issue introduced by Patch 5.4.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

Ahh thank you, thank you mik!!!! xO

Just a minor thing, add a tooltip to those 2 color boxes at the Cooldowns pane so a player knows why there are 2 color boxes and which one is one.

Works wonderfully now, just as I wanted. It also works by using cooldown "name" you said before it would only work with ID? )) THANKS!

Thanks for this wonderful addon, I use it for years now
Just a question: is the trigger for honor not working properly? It showed 0 since 4.0.1

The Maelstorm predefined one looks exactly the same(except the skill name ofc), but I don't see the Stack criteria, under which menu/button is it and is that the exact name?
(i checked the Add event button (main events), under Aura Application and under Aura Refresh all without finding the Stack criteria)
LS isn't a 9 stack anymore, just 3 as Static Shock does not actually use a stack like it did prior to 4.0.1. the only time LS orbs get used is if you are physically hit now.

Hey

First of all, thanks for all your work!

Second, my question... I have read the readme file, been looking through the comment pages, tried a few suggested solutions there, but nothing has sorted it for me, so thought I'd post here. I have tried so many different trigger-settings now that there's no point listing them here, instead I'm just gonna explain what I'd like to achieve. I'm really at my wits end here.

The default trigger setting for the mage ability Fingers of Frost is set to go off when the aura (FoF) is applied on the target. But I want the trigger to go off when the second stack of FoF is applied. So: FoF is applied on target --> msbt is silent --> second stack of FoF is applied --> trigger goes off (sound/text etc).

I would be very grateful (and a happy panda!) if someone could please explain how to set this up.

Pseudopod:

Thanks for the combat log. I see the issue and should have it fixed in the next release. Previously there were no pets or guardians (that I know of anyways) which healed, so there aren't currently any outgoing pet heal events for them to be shown.

silkfire:

Perhaps it's the difference between calling the API with the name "Web" versus its spell ID. I've noticed varying behavior in the past with the APIs depending on which variant is used. I recently switched MSBT to use spell IDs as opposed to names (for cooldowns), because the recent Blizzard trend in getting rid of spell ranks and consolidating ability names has given rise to several cases where information returned by the APIs is sometimes for the wrong version of a same name skill. Anyways, I'm fairly certain I know how to work around the bug and will add it to my list.

That Efflorescence thingy is sure buggy. It's an "invisible" entitity but its targetable by enemies and they can even kill Efflorescence, because it is considered a Totem. NPC info: http://us-wowbox.yatta.com.tw/npc-43479.html (its misspelled btw by Blizzard).

It's counted as a pet belonging to the Druid who cast Swiftmend though. ("Mine" flag).

Strange mikord because ForteXorcist tracks cooldowns perfectly. I can use a pet ability in BG, then get killed and the cooldown will be ready when I'm in ress queue. I know for sure because my custom MSBT with pet cooldowns worked as well before 4.0.1.

silkfire:

Sounds like yet another Blizzard bug. I suspect the API call to get the remaining cooldown isn't accurate when the pet isn't out. You can verify by running /dump GetSpellCooldown(4167) with Web on cooldown and then mounting up and running it again. I'll do that myself as well, but given what you describe, that's my guess.

Edit: Confirmed. As soon as the pet is dismissed, the API returns the cooldown as being completed. I'll explore a few potential workarounds.

Bethany:

Not currently possible. MSBT is intentionally excluding CP generation once you are full to prevent seeing "Finish It!" spammed over and over.

Pseduopod:

Please PM me a raw combat log of efflorescence healing in action (/combatlog -> Efflorescence heals -> /combatlog to disable -> Logout to write log file -> <WoWDir>\Logs\WoWCombatLog.txt).

I know from other posters (silkfire) that it's being reported as if it's coming from a different entity based upon what the in-game log says, but in order to properly detect it, I need the actual log file that contains all of the guids and source flags (obtained via the above procedure).

Thanks.

Is it possible to make MSBT show outgoing heals through Efflorescence? Recount shows it as being my "pet", but MSBT doesn't seem to acknowledge pet outgoing heals.

I suspected it may be something like 2 sounds trying to play at the same time and one getting priority. Anyway, back to my original post - if it's possible, need some help to make an event to play the sound if I hit a combo point generating ability and my combo points are already full.

Since the visual indicator is appearing every time, it means the event is appropriately being detected and the PlaySoundFile routine provided by WoW is being called. It could be something like you're hitting the maximum number of sound channels that can be active at one time. Also, I've noticed that sounds in general have been really quite buggy with this patch (I've had them all play clumped together up to 10 seconds after I actually used abilities that cause them).

silkfire:

I just tamed a spider on a low level hunter and it worked correctly - the Web cooldown displays after 40 seconds. I also created a trigger with the skill name set to "Web" and it fired correctly every time for 20 tries.
I found the culprit, it has to with 3 cases when my pet disappears - the cooldown triggers instantly. This happens if I:
  1. Mount up
  2. My pet dies
  3. Or I die
So I think you check for if my pet is there, and if it isn't, the trigger triggers, which is wrong.

Try that out, my friend; use Web then mount up after the combat has ended
