Version: 5.7.128
by: Mikord [More]
Announcements:
  • Version 5.7.127 fixes the dispel issue introduced by Patch 5.2.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

Taroven:

Good point. There weren't as many damage shield in the past as there are today, so they had been rolled up into the normal skill damage events. With their increased presence though, they probably now warrant their own event. I'll make a note of it.

Pusikas:

The only think I can think of that would be doing that is having an overridden font some where. You can try making a copy of your default profile, selecting the new profile and resetting it. That will tell you if it's profile related without losing your original profile (you can simply select the original profile to go back to it and delete the new profile you created).

Jczim:

Thanks for the info. It's already updated in my local version.

Edit: Just read the patch notes for the PTR and it seems HoW is reverting to 20% from the newer 35%.

Quokka:

The easiest way is probably to go to Spam Control->Power Throttling and turn it up. It will throttle the power gains to only show how much you gained every X seconds (X being what you set the slider to). I'm currently looking at the new mechanics to ascertain a good way to throttle the mana spam by default, but until then, the power throttling should do the trick.

Small Question

where can I find the mana gaining stuff (hunter - shadowpriest - Paladin)

Right now it spams my screen. I'd like to move them to my trash scroll part

would be sweet If i could merge them into 1 that shows mana gain

The Paladin spell 'Hammer of Wrath' threshold for use is now 35% up from 20%, and the default trigger for it doesn't reflect the change.

Just an FYI when you do your next update. And for those of you who use it just go into triggers and update it till then.

No, did not touch that one, and it was still set to "inherit". But even setting it to ArialNarrow manually did not change the font output of the static frame.

I noticed the other night that there's no reactive damage type in the incoming/outgoing events. My Warrior's Prot since the patch, and Damage Shield spamming my primary damage area is a bit of a nuisance.

I've got it throttled at 5 for now, but really I'd love to see a way to move reactive damage (Thorns, Damage Shield, Ret Aura, Imp's Fire Shield, and reflective shields from priests come to mind) to its own scroll area so that I can keep an eye on it without it being throttled so severely.

...and as an almost unrelated side note, seeing a rogue kill himself in about five seconds from Thorns+Ret Aura+DS in 3v3 is funny as all hell.

Master Font works for me, but only for the top, left and right frame. The lower one (the one where it says when I loot gold for example) does not change. Or maybe I have just been missing some option?

I was using the one from Curse. I have downloaded and successfully tested the version from here which worked absolutely fine.

Phanx:

Blizzard changed vulnerabilities to be reported as negative resistances when they redid the combat log. I'll see about detecting it and reporting it more explicitly, but that will be of a lower prioritysince vulnerable mobs are quite rare since BWL. Thanks for the heads up.

5.3.26 seems to be working normally again. I did notice something else, though, that seemed odd... when fighting a fire-vulnerable mob, my shaman's Flametongue attacks kept showing up as "X damage <-Y resisted>". Although I suppose technically extra damage due to vulnerability could be viewed as a negative resistance, it seems like a strange way to say it, and it's certainly not as easy to tell apart from damage reductions due to resistances as it could be. I only realized what was going on after looking at my actual combat log window for something unrelated.

Hi Mik,

i am using this addon for years now and there WILL be no wow without it

Using the most recent version i have just a small issue:

I am playing a hunter. Sometimes the critical hits of my pet stay on the screen and do not vanish! I am amost using the default settings the addon comes with (just disabled 1 or 2 triggers).

Keep up the great work!
Kind regards

Paladin's Hammer of Wrath is still popping up at 20% when it is 35% now. Great addon, I love it!

Anadale:

That very thing is actually on the agenda. I was planning on making a customizable list that you associate with sounds directly as opposed to the method you described, but your method would work well too since PlaySoundFile doesn't error if the sound file doesn't exist.

Phanx:

With 5.3.25, I'm getting some very strange behavior with crits when "Sticky Crits" is enabled. It's almost like the entire animation is stretched out over about 100 times as many frames as it should be. I'm using the default "Jiggle" animation for crits, with an animation speed of 40. Non-crits display fine, but the initial "bounce" of each crit is staggered across about 5 seconds instead a few frames. Once it's "in" it stays visible and jiggling (at a normal rate) for way longer than it should. Fading out does the "stretch" thing again; instead of fading out smoothly it fades out to a threshold, sticks there for a second, fades some more, sticks, fades, sticks, until it's finally gone. enUS client.
