Version: 5.7.138
by: Mikord [More]

Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.134 is updated to work with Warlord of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 and fixes the font preview issues.
  • If you are having issues with the fonts "resetting" on initial game load, update to Version 5.7.137.
  • Version 5.7.138 corrects issues with several triggers like Kill Shot and Hammer of Wrath.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

Can anyone help with dk triggers?

I'm trying to check if both these diseases are applied on my target :

blood plauge
frost fever

and then when obliterate skill becomes available flash a message saying obliterate now?

I've tried a few triggers but none of them seem to work - im not sure what a disease gets called really in MSBT triggers.

I don't think so. I recently respecced my DK and moved a few points around, Morbidity being one I dropped points out of. Tonight in Naxx I still got disasterous framerates on large pulls with aoe. I decided to disable MSBT since it I knew it dealt with a large amount of combat data. The framerate issue completely disappeared. This was in-game with no UI reload or anything, just merely unchecking "Enable MSBT" (or whatver it was called) on the first page of the options screen. I searched the throttle section but was unable to locate an option that seemed to help. Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I love how well MSBT does what it does.

Does throttling use a high amount of CPU, esp when set to 5s? If so, is there any way to lower the CPU usage here? Just wondering if there was an easier way to switch off 'novice' buffs - for example; Tree of Life, Pally Auras etc?

Atm only way I can forsee doing this is adding each Aura/Spell to the Skill Supressions list? I dont want to disable Buffs completly because I want certain ones to display.

Anyone?

Hello i have been using MSBT on my mage for brain freeze and such. It is a great addon and is really helpful.

Although now i am leveling a holy priest and was wondering if you could add a notification for Surge Of Light - the one where their is a 50% chance to get a free flash heal or smite after a crit.

As it only has 10sec duration would be amazing to have a notification like the previous ones.

I tried making my own, however i have not suceeded so if you could tell me how to write it that would suffice; although i would guess that there are more priests out their wanting this notification.

Thanks for the amazing addon, hope you can add the new notification.

EDIT: I just noticed that when Surge of Light is gained it comes up but not like the way that brainfreeze and fingers of frost comes up, which is the way i would like Surge of Light to be like. :P

Dawn:

I'll put that on my list of stuff to get to.

Poco/alrit:

I would think throttling should actually reduce the lag because your not displaying as much information as you would be otherwise. That said, I recently lowered the merge time and I suspect the combination of the massive amount of AoE DKs have (multiple spells on multiple mobs) and the lowered time is causing that behavior. I'll tweak the values in the next relase (which should be out tomorrow) to see if that helps things.

Also, I've noticed too that the DK AoE effects are hard on a many people's systems, so it's possible the reduced frame rate from that is also a part of the cause. That one, I can't do much about.

Deviant:

It's not currently, but I do think the idea of a combat based exception is a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

Exceptions

Helloes!

I play a healer paladin and I made a custom trigger that reminds me to use Divine plea & Arcane torrent when my mana is less than 75%. As much as I like the fact that MSBT spams the message every 5seconds (since it is possible to miss it during combat) it isn't very nice when you're off combat I made an exception to not show the message when I have buff "drink" but during for example in Naxx; there's so much boring easy trash cleaning that I really don't have time to drink, and using cooldowns on last packs before boss isn't very smart either.

So my question is; is there possibility to make exception to a trigger so it doesn't show if I'm off combat?

I'm experiencing some odd lag / very low frame rate issues too (less than 1 FPS at some points). I notice this most prominently when I'm AoE tanking on my death knight... I believe it has to do using high throttle settings on our AoE spells. I don't experience any lag when healing the same pull on my priest, even if I'm spamming holy nova or mind sear.

Does throttling use a high amount of CPU, esp when set to 5s? If so, is there any way to lower the CPU usage here? I've lowered the throttle setting to 2s and that seems to improve performance quite a bit. I've also suppressed Wandering Plague from displaying. These two changes seem to have improved performance quite a bit.

Regarding Skill Substitutions

I tried to set up my cooldown display to show skill names the way i configured them in "Spam control > Skill Substitutions".

It didn't work, i guess it's because cooldowns use exclusively the %e tag instead of %s (wich works with skill substitutions).

I also tried to work around this by only looking for an option to only show cooldown icons. Which wasn't possible, either. Most likely, because it's a similar thing like i run into the first time.

Is it possible to add those options, or maybe at least the first one?
i.e. everything that's configured in skill substitutions works also for cooldowns

It will remove a lot of clutter from the screen, especially for looooong cooldown names like "Judgement of Justice" and the like.

I just wanted to say thank you for creating the best mod that I have used in my WoW career

Somehow, I only heard about this mod today. Within the first 10 combats using the mod, I fell in love! Keep it up!

G'day!

1st off thanks for this addon. Simply love it. However, since WoTLK came out.. I face some sort of graphical freezes specially during instances or raids where I'd be tossing dmgs and stuff. But when I wasnt doing anything (ie deathlul), I dont face any freezes or whatsoever. Ive tried searching for the cause of it and it appears fo be this, MSBT. I also noticed that only few hv this problem ever since WoTLK came out. Are there any suggestions for this?

Yea I agree, but I wouldn't know how to add that from scratch so I had to work with what I had lol.

Uncheck Events->Notification->Combo Point Gains and/or Events->Notification->Combo Points Full

Ruana:

That is interesting because MSBT doesn't change the clearcasting sound by default. It would have to be selected specifically for the clearcasting trigger, and even then it wouldn't override the default sound since afaik mods can't disable the default sounds short of replacing sounds files.

As far as having different sounds per character, you can make a new profile that has the unique settings you desire and select that profile on the appropriate character. MSBT will remember which profile each character last selected.

Nemnacill:

Thanks for the information. I see what the issue is. I'll put it on my fix list.
