Version: 5.7.131
by: Mikord [More]
Announcements:
  • Version 5.7.131 fixes the font changing issue introduced by Patch 5.4.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

Not sure if i'm doing something wrong, but here's something (may be a bug) i found...

I like setting up seperate notifications when certain cooldowns are ready with custom audible alerts. Psychic Scream for example. I set up a trigger to give me an alert with a custom wave i made when its cooldown is up. Being I also have Cooldowns Enabled, it shows up as 2 simultaneous alerts. I tried to disable Cooldown Notification and just stick to my custom trigger but unfortunely my custom cooldown triggers won't work unless the Cooldown Notification is enabled.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or...?

Btw my hats off to you on this addon, i've been religously checking on this page for updates and have been miserable without it. I appreciate all your hardships put into it.

That looks like it's due to a change that Blizzard made in Patch 2.4.2 regarding money loot. It is fixed in MSBT 5.13, so make sure you have at least that version.

Vampa:

Unfortunately I didn't get as much time over the weekend to work on it as I thought I'd have, but nevertheless the beta version is really close to ready. It will likely be tomorrow or Thursday evening.

Here is a little info on what to expect.

The new trigger system is completely based around the events the new Blizzard combat log exposes plus some additional ones like health/mana changes and skill cooldown completions. Every event has an entire range of conditions available to be tested with various operators. Similar to the previous version, exceptions are still supported so you can do things like not show the trigger when you aren't in the arena or only show it once every 5 seconds.

Basically this means it will handle highly complex expressions, and so long as there is a combat log message for it, you will now be able to trigger on it even if it isn't something I've already thought of since it is no longer based on a limited set of high level abstractions.

I plan to have a beta version of 5.2 with the new trigger system and a greatly optimized event parser up by the end of the weekend. I know that people had come up with some clever triggers with the old capability of search patterns, and my goal is to bring that level of flexibility back into the system.

Since I'd like to get the code out and get some testing on it as soon as possible, I won't have documentation for the new trigger system in the readme in the beta release, but it should be fairly straightforward to use.

As the beta test commences, I'll be getting the trigger guide and FAQs updated.

Nahima:

Are you at version 5.13? The behavior your describing is exactly how it was in prior versions. The damage done from a reflect is treated as if you were the one casting the spell. I didn't add the specific reflect message itself until version 5.12.

To clarify, you won't see "[icon] Reflect (amount)!". What you should see though is "[icon] Reflect!", next event "[icon] amount". If the first reflect message isn't showing up in the latest version, then it's possible there is a bug I need to fix.

Tabs:

The process is the same as for polymorph breaking except it would be a Debuff Application with an application number of 1 instead of a Debuff Fade.

Hi! Can anybody please help me out?

I'm trying to make a custom trigger that will alert me if I've been silenced (like those at isle of quel danas naga's) and if it fades out. I was able to make a trigger for when Polymorph breaks, but I cant manage to figure out about the trigger for being silenced and out of silence.

Thank you so much!

Huh... neither are showing up, and I've tested it a couple times. I'll test it again, then delete saved variables and fresh install and see if I can get it to work.

Edit: Ok, so I tested it in battle and defensive stance, and on outgoing what it reads off is just "dmg (spell)" it doesn't specify as reflect. On the notification scroll it tells me I've gained and then lost spell reflection.

So, killing some terrokar forest casters, they were scorching me, and my outgoing scroll reads;

242 (Scorch)

And there's nothing on the incoming scroll to correspond. Going to go delete saved variables and the addon, then reinstall it, and see if the same thing happens.

Editx2: Same thing, no "Reflect!" message anywhere. Going to try it out in pvp next, but for casting mobs, it just prints the damage as if my warrior was casting scorch instead of tagging it as reflected. (And I checked the Events, it's supposed to say it's reflected, all are completely default, and everything is checked.)

Luxus:

I will probably have something beta wise next week.

Nahima:

There are actually two events generated per spell reflect - the reflect message itself, and an outgoing damage event.

For example, let's say you reflect a Frostbolt. You will see the reflect message "[frostbolt icon] Reflect!" followed by the outgoing damage event "[frostbolt icon] 1835".
