Version: 5.7.138
by: Mikord, Resike

Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.134 is updated to work with Warlord of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 and fixes the font preview issues.
  • If you are having issues with the fonts "resetting" on initial game load, update to Version 5.7.137.
  • Version 5.7.138 corrects issues with several triggers like Kill Shot and Hammer of Wrath.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply, sure you must be busy with 3.1 testing.

I tried your suggestion but it didn't work. Here's what I did...

In MSBT added new Trigger, for the time being I just set the output message to "POISONS!!!".

The Main Event is Aura Removal with 2 Conditions.

1 - Recipient Unit Affiliation - Is Equal To - You
2 - Skill Name - Is Equal To - Crippling Poison (*** more on this below)

I then altered the output to be in Notifications, Sticky, Large Font, and with a sound. When I click off the poison I do see the standard notification from MSBT, i.e. [-Crippling Poison] float up the notification area, but not the new large sticky one I just added. HALP! I'm becoming increasingly old and my poor old brain needs a firm prod when my poisons run out mid-raid

EDIT: It doesn't work because Poisons are not an Aura (Buff), they are a Temporary Weapon Enchant. If I change the Main Event to be Enchant Removal, then it works.

*** A note on the Aura name...
Poisons all have different ranks, and the rank text is roman numeral appended to the poison name. Now I wouldn't have a problem setting up individual triggers for each poison as I tend to only use Wound Poison VII and Deadly Poison IX (others are very situational, like Anesthetic on Gluth). However, how would you construct the Skill Name to encompass %Poison%?

Man i have tried a couple times to come up with a trigger, that announces when a harmful Death Knight uses the ability Litchborne. I am not sure why, but all my other triggers that i have made work.

Can anyone give me some help with this one?

I don't recall how the current UI looks exactly, but I imagine that something like this would both flexible and easy for new users: "All Events" checkbox, checked by default for a new suppressed skill, when unchecked enables another set of checkboxes below it for each particular type of event.

There is an exception for that trigger for "trivial targets". It sounds like Blizzard's API call might not be returning the correct value. I'll have to look into it.

Phanx:

I'll see about getting right-aligned icons in to the next rev. I agree it would probably look cleaner on the right in right-aligned scroll areas.

Paolo:

I think the following should work:

Aura Removal
Recipient Unit Affiliation - Is Equal To - You
Skill Name - Is Like - .+ Poision

Then for the output message:
%s Faded

Hi,

Just moved to MSBT after using SCT, and it's much nicer.

I wanted to know how to add an event or trigger to make a big warning when poisons fade from weapons. I see there is already notification, but I wanted one that stands out a bit more.

Thanks

There is not currently an option for notifications in advance of events.
Thank you for the reply,

Figured this was the case in the current setup, as I am a mod creation idiot I was not sure how hard something like that might be. I know Tankadin (the RF/seal addon especially) has a nice setup which will warn my paladin when seals are about to drop by putting a message up, also when RF is about to drop it flashes the screen for me. Of course now that seals are 30 min instead of the shorter time it used to be, it is less of an issue, just where I got the idea of something like that for HFB in its current form. I was not sure if there was a way to do somthing similar in this mod.

Of course come 3.1 it might not matter for HFB, just something to think about maybe for at least the short duration/constantly refreshed buffs in general.

It would be nice to have icons on the right side of text in right-aligned scroll areas. Left-aligned scroll areas look very nice with the icons all lined up, but right-aligned scroll areas look very messy. Is this something you'd consider adding?

Also, I'd like to put in my vote for the suppression system being made able to distinguish between buff gain/loss and damage/healing/energize by the same ability (the issue spinhalf brought up a few comments back).

First of all, I love your addon Makes it so much better and easier to play.

I got a small issue though, whenever I kill a unit MSBT tells me that I can use "Victory Rush". Victory Rush only procs after a unit that gives experience or honor is killed, not when I kill some critter or something. I don't know if this problem lies with blizzard or not, but I just felt like letting you know

Luriden:

That is an unfortunate limitation of WoW's eventing system. Whenever a unit is in the process of dying (before it's actually programatically dead), it sends out aura removal messages. Additionally, there isn't a reliable way to detect this condition since events are received for units that don't always have associated unit ids required to check things like HP values.

Quick Question

Thus far I am liking this addon, but I did have one question regarding it. I stare at debuff timers a lot, so I made events wherein it notifies me via a message when those debuffs fade (similar to how it tells me when a cooldown is up). Unfortunately, it also spams these messages when a target dies... is there a way to make it -not- tell me "Suchandsuch has faded" when the target dies?

Beyond that small issue, this is making my life a lot easier in those hectic fights.

The only way is to modify the lua code as you suggest. It's not bad idea, but I doubt I will be able to get any new features in for a while due to a crazy schedule at the moment.
Ofcourse, I understand! I still think it's one of the best AddOns out there, keep up the great work and thanks for the reply

I'll release an update later tonight (or early tomorrow morning depending on how long the PTR client takes to load) that will work on both live and the PTR. Thanks for all the reports.

Enfeebler:

There is not currently an option for notifications in advance of events.

Maldazzar:

Dispel resists show up a regular spell resists, so you could disable that event, but it would also disable all spell resists. There is not an event available specifically for dispel resists to disable.
