Version: 5.7.131
by: Mikord [More]
Announcements:
  • Version 5.7.131 fixes the font changing issue introduced by Patch 5.4.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

What about a new trigger exception like health? Right now, there is only power. If you go with health, maybe the trigger won't fire if the unit health is less than 1?

Another question: what about item cooldowns like Nitro Boosts? Are these working right now, or is it limited to skill cooldowns?

Thanks for the great addon and ongoing support!

Well, I will just have both I guess...

Blood Rune Rdy ?

Could you add a trigger that shows the cooldown of DK runes like "unholy rune rdy?"

I've read the readme and as many comments as I could to try to find an answer to my question, but either I'm missing it (quite possible) or it's not here. I'd like to know if there's a way for me to control where the numbers and whatnot are placed. For example, I'd like to see damage out to the left of my character and damage/heals in/abilities ready to the right? I don't want anything over my head or at my feet as I use those areas for other things.

You answered me at curse, thanks!

Here's your answer, in case others would like to see it:

"Scroll Areas->Configure Scroll Areas to move them around, change their style, etc.

You can also modify the event settings of every individual event and trigger to specify which scroll area they are output to if you want that level of customization."

Seife:

That also won't work since the health update hasn't happened yet either (just like it isn't flagged dead yet, its health value is still what it was before the death process began). I know it's buried down in the comments somewhere, but I've tried many, many ways to get around the limitation and had quite a few suggestions as well, but none of them have worked.

As far as cooldowns, only skill cooldowns are shown. I'll probably eventually get around to adding item/pet cooldowns, but I don't have any time frame for it.

Shayana:

The WotLK beta version reported rune cooldowns, but they were so spammy they distracted from the "real" cooldowns and generated many complaints. I decided to remove them as a result. I might add them back in disabled by default with options for enabling them, but honestly there are other things that would come first.

Where can I turn off the sound for the "fading soon" and "use soon" events that you added with the latest version?

Its actually rather annoying.

I noticed killing blow announcements weren't showing the name of the person I killed, I checked the event and it was set as Killing Blow (%e) shouldn't it be Killing Blow (%n)?

Whatever4ever:

Yes. Add it to the Skill Suppressions list under the Spam Control tab.

archiv:

I don't know of any links, but the main places you probably want to look in the options to get it close are changing the animation styles and location of the scroll areas under Scroll Areas->Configure Scroll Areas, and modifying some of the options on the Spam Control tab.

Caldar:

I didn't add any notifications for what you are describing. It is most likely another mod. You can verify by temporarily disabling your other mods.

Mikari:

Yes KBs use %n now. They used to be %e, so if you have a profile that you modified the KB announcements for, it may be showing as %e still. For most people the never modified it, it would've been automatically changed over to %n in the master profile.

And you were right. It was the interaction between Scorchio2 and MSBT. I had Scorchio2 set to use MSBT notification area and for some reason when updating MSBT today it started playing a sound when a spell effect was fading where it never did prior to todays update which is why i had assumed it was MSBT.

When checking Scorchio2 config i noticed the sound selects were set to a blank entry and not an actual sound or none. Changing those to none made the sound effect go away. Oddly enough I couldn't actually find the sound it had been playing in the dropdown.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or a limitation but names with special characters in them don't display properly, e.g if I get healed by someone with a name that uses a special character the name won't show properly, or will be truncated.

The font you're using likely doesn't have a glyph for the character. I tried to pick fonts for the default ones that have a decent variety of "Euro language" glyphs like , , , , and , but naturally not every font has a glyph for every possibility.

Is there a way to show exactly how many Combo Points I have even every single time I use a skill that would cause me to gain one? Right now, the mod caps at 5CP and won't tell me how many I have if I do another combo move... I know it seems silly, but sometimes I have to waste a SS to keep my cycle tight and avoid capping out on energy. I want to see "5CP: Finish it!" EVERYTIME I do a combo move and my CP is full, not just the first time that I get 5CP.
