Grid  Updated Today!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.0.3.1
by: Phanx, Trelis

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.

The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Please do not use the Bug/Feature buttons to the right, or send me PMs to ask for help, report problems, or request features. Use the links below instead!

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

IMPORTANT: If you did not download Grid from this page, do not post on this page about any problems you encounter with it. Copies of Grid obtained from anywhere other than the official download pages on WoWInterface and WowAce/Curse, or through the Curse Client or Minion, may be outdated or modified, and are not supported at all.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

### Version 7.0.3.1

* Fixed ticket 834 Show offline option broken. Thanks Samuelreus.
* Fixed ticket 833 Layout none in non-English locale. Thanks Elnarfim.
* Package with libraries should include new LibResInfo for ticket 828.
* Mark code for splitGroups as debug in Layouts because the option is marked
as debug. Should fix odd behavior for people who had option enabled before
the option was disabled.

### Version 7.0.3.0-beta

* Updated for WoW 7.0 (Legion)
* Added options for offline and wrong zone groups

### Version 6.2.0.1754-beta

* Updated ToC for 6.2
* Fixed autolayout by group: it now shows as many groups as needed to show the highest group with an online player in it when in group mode. (ticket #795)
* Another fix for pets not being displayed (ticket #798)
* Fix for right-click menu enabled on startup despite setting (ticket #807)
* Fix for layout when in a party (not raid) in the world

### Version 6.0.3.1746-beta

* Layout size is now based on the maximum group size for the current instance, rather than the actual group size, to resolve several issues (ticket #795)
* Fixed pets not being displayed when using the By Group layout (ticket #798)
* Fixed the Low Mana Warning status not activating (ticket #780)

#### Known issues in this version

* The background frame does not always resize itself correctly when the group size changes in combat.
* Some group members may still be hidden if your raid is full (20 players in a mythic raid, 30 players in other difficulties) but you have arranged your raid groups so that not all groups are full (eg. only 2 players in group 1). If you use this kind of group arrangement, please post a ticket or in the forum thread to let me know.

### Version 6.0.3.1740-beta

* Fixed a number of layout-related issues
* Fixed an error when switching profiles (ticket #783)
* Fixed an issue with the Center Icon size (ticket #785)
* Fixed an issue with the Mouseover status sticking or activating randomly (ticket #791)
* Added a status to display Stagger on monks (thanks Greltok!)

### Version 6.0.3.1714-beta

* There is now only one "Raid" layout selection, and the built-in layouts will automatically adjust to match your current instance type and group size.
* There is now a "By Role" layout that will group players by their assigned tank/healer/damager roles.
* There are no longer separate "w/ Pets" layouts; use the "Show Pets" option on the Layout tab to add pets to any of the built-in layouts.

-------------------

### Version 6.0.3.1710

* Temporary fix for raid difficulty detection: LFR, Normal, and Heroic will use your chosen "Flexible Raid" layout, and Mythic will use your "25 Player Raid" layout. In the near future, all built-in layouts will automatically adjust their size for your current raid, and there will only be one "Raid" layout setting.
* Fixed an issue with right-click bindings in Clique (ticket #747)
* Fixed the Mouseover status not triggering when "Show Tooltip" was set to "Never" (ticket #770)
* Fixed another issue with status counts (eg. aura stacks) (ticket #768)
* Fixed the Resurrection status (ticket #745)

#### Known issues in this version:

* WoW is currently reporting incoming heal and absorb amounts that are much too small, so Grid will also show incoming heal and absorb amounts that are much too small. There is nothing I can do about this other than wait for Blizzard to fix the problem on their end.

-------------------

### Version 6.0.2.1699

* **General:**
* Fixed the options for changing the frame height/width
* **Statuses:**

* Fixed the appearance of the Group Leader, Group Assistant, and Master Looter statuses when shown on icon-type indicators

### Version 5.4.7.1653

* Added Soulstone support to the Incoming Resurrection status
* Added an option to choose a layout to use in Flex Raids (Greltok)

* Most statuses will no longer try to update for units not in visible range (ticket #714)

* Removed combined count/duration option for aura text (feel free to use a plugin if you want to spam yourself)
* [API] GridRoster's IsGUIDInRaid method has been renamed to IsGUIDInGroup. The old name still exists as an alias, but plugins are encouraged to update anyway.

* Added a By Class 40 layout
* Added an option to use the 40-Player Raid layout while in a raid group outside of an instance
* Added an option to change the layout frame background texture

### Version 5.0.5.1554

* Fixed pet battle hiding so that Grid stays properly hidden when the None layout is selected (ticket #648).

### Version 5.0.5.1537

* Added default buffs for monks.
* Added an option to show the Debuff Type statuses only when your character can dispel them.
* Grid is now hidden during pet battles (ticket #643).
* Status opacity now has its own option, instead of being part of the status color option.
* Fixed an issue with range checking while solo (ticket #627).
* Fixed an issue causing icons to be hidden on auras with duration text or coloring enabled (ticket #644).
* Removed backwards compatibility with WoW 4.x.
* The Resurrect status module now uses LibResInfo-1.0.
* Added partial Italian localization from kappesante and Holydeath1984.
* Removed the Class Filter and Range Filter options for statuses. This was announced on the download page and in the forum thread months ago, and nobody presented any compelling arguments for keeping these options, but if you missed the announcements, and this change ruins your life, please come to the WowAce forum thread and tell us why they were useful.

* Increased the default width of the config frame to prevent random wrapping bugs.
* [API] Status parameter may be passed as either the traditional argument list, or as a table.
* [API] Status "range" parameter is now treated as a boolean, not a number.

Alpha versions are development snapshots. They may be buggy, or they may not work at all. They may erase your settings. They are not tested thoroughly, if at all. In many cases, I write code while I'm at work, and commit it to the repository to test later when I'm at home. I do not provide any support for alpha versions. This is even stated in bold text in the addon description here:

If you downloaded Grid from wowace.com, or through the Curse Client, please do not post here. The WoWInterface releases are actually tested. Anything from wowace.com is bleeding-edge and may or may not work.
If you are not comfortable using untested, unstable, and unsupported development snapshots, don't download alpha versions. Stick to beta and release versions.

Range checking is being rewritten, and is more likely than not to be broken in any given alpha version at the moment. If you do not understand what alpha versions are, don't use them.

I want to see everyones health, even when out of range for heals. I want to see everyone who has X debuff or Y Buff, even when out of range. I just want their Frame Alpha to fade when they are out of range for me to heal them.

That was with 1406, so it was an Alpha version. I'm reverting back to 1403. Might want to consider adding the range check as an option for the Frame Alpha before updating 1406 to Beta or Release status.
Yes, this is why I came here to try and figure why i no longer can see who is out of range. I have to revert back too I can't be wasting time trying to heal people who are out of my range. Can you put the range function back in the new version?

The grid on the left side ... How in the world do I get rid of that?
Grid only makes one set of frames, and I’m not familiar with the UI you linked, sorry. Have you tried asking the UI’s uploader?

kubasniak:
I have checked ENABLE ICON COOLDOWN FRAME and ENABLE ICON STACK TEXT and both DOESN'T WORK. I don't know why, I downloaded a plugin GridIndicatorSideIcons and I checked the same both options and it doesn't work too. I see the renew icon but I don't see a cooldown frame on it. Same with cooldown text plugin for grid. Nothing works. It works when I check Configuration Mode then I see stacks and cooldown frame.
The icon cooldown frame and icon stack text are part of the default “Center Icon” indicator, so the options to show them or not won’t have any effect on indicators added by plugins. Also, even if you enable them, they are only shown if the currently active status includes duration or stack information. Which statuses have you tried on the Center Icon indicator?

Also, I’m not sure what you mean by “Configuration Mode”, since Grid doesn’t have one!

nammerduong:
I was able to set it so that when I join a dungeon group or any normal party, the default party frames wont appear.
Grid doesn’t hide any default UI frames. Maybe your primary unit frame addon (player and target frames) had that feature? If not, you can always install HideBlizzard.

Just out of curiosity would it be possible to add additional frame anchors, top center and bottom center? Corners are fine and dandy, unless you're OCD like me and want it centered each and every time. :P

[Edit] Nevermind, when I looked into the anchor menu the center option originally was not there. I'm sure it's a bug on my end, but updating Grid has the anchor properly displaying and my unit frames are centered again. Sorry.

The grid on the left side ... How in the world do I get rid of that?

Well, the one at the bottom can be solved with a reboot(for now) but THAT GRID ON THE LEFT IS BOTHERING ME SO HARD.

What is that??

I currently use this UI.

Grid Frame Hanging Below Background

I'm having a problem where my Grid unit frame boxes are literally hanging below the Grid frame background. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this either.

So say you have 2 columns of 5 rows. For some reason the first 2 rows are empty, and then it puts the other 5 below those, thus hanging below the Grid frame background image. =(

Also, this incident is only happening when using the
"By Class 10"
Any suggestions? I've tried clearing Grid and reinstalling it but no avail.

party frames

this may seem like a stupid question..
I used grid back during WotLK and I was able to set it so that when I join a dungeon group or any normal party, the default party frames wont appear.
I don't know how to do that now...
can someone please help.

Unfortunately, Grid is the only addon that I can find that supports permanent custom lists. I'd be happy to modify the code if I could figure out where to make the change(s). Care to offer any hints?

Grid crashing issue that ALOT of people are talking about...
Misaligned frames are not a "crash", in any sense of the word. The issue shown in your screenshot should be resolved as of r1400; try deleting Grid from your addons folder and reinstalling it by hand from a fresh download.

If the problem still persists, see the existing ticket in the ticket tracker (there's a link in main description) and post a reply with the requested information. Neither I nor anyone I know personally (eg. I have direct access to their computer, or I can swap files with them and walk them through debugging procedures and tests over the phone/Ventrilo) has seen this issue since r1400, so at this point there's not really any reasonable way for me to do anything further if "there's a problem" is all the information I'm given.

Chimaeron

My guild is on Chimaeron and I'd like to create an indicator for anyone who is currently UNDER 10k health.

I am pretty new to Grid so I'm looking for some tips on how to do this.

Request - please allow wider unit frames

I like to have long, somewhat thin unit frames. The reason I need this is a bit complex, so I won't go into it here, unless you'd like to know.
In any case, I have the unit frames as wide as they will go (100) and have the scale at the maximum setting (double I think) and they are still not quite wide enough. Would it be easy for you to allow the slider for width to be twice what it is now?

Thanks.

And reloadingUI doesn't fix it, you have to restart the game.

No. You can uncheck "Use class colors" for the Unit Health status, and that will let you make the bars all gray, but the foreground color is always derived from the background color (or vice versa, if you have the invert option on). I have no plans to change this.
Okay, no problem.

Post a ticket over on CurseForge and attach your Grid saved variables, and state which profile you are using. Without seeing your actual settings, all I can suggest is checking to make sure someone actually has that buff on them (since the only way the status would show when you check "Show if missing" would be if they don't have the buff).
It's working now, I shift-clicked the spell in my spellbook to insert it in grid which came up with [Beacon of Light], I deleted it again and just typed Beacon of Light myself without the [] and that does work.
