Grid  Updated less than 3 days ago!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.0.3.1
by: Phanx, Trelis

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.

The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Please do not use the Bug/Feature buttons to the right, or send me PMs to ask for help, report problems, or request features. Use the links below instead!

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

IMPORTANT: If you did not download Grid from this page, do not post on this page about any problems you encounter with it. Copies of Grid obtained from anywhere other than the official download pages on WoWInterface and WowAce/Curse, or through the Curse Client or Minion, may be outdated or modified, and are not supported at all.

Feel free to tell us about your idea, but please make sure there isn’t already a plugin that adds the feature you’re looking for first!

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

### Version 7.0.3.1

* Fixed ticket 834 Show offline option broken. Thanks Samuelreus.
* Fixed ticket 833 Layout none in non-English locale. Thanks Elnarfim.
* Package with libraries should include new LibResInfo for ticket 828.
* Mark code for splitGroups as debug in Layouts because the option is marked
as debug. Should fix odd behavior for people who had option enabled before
the option was disabled.

### Version 7.0.3.0-beta

* Updated for WoW 7.0 (Legion)
* Added options for offline and wrong zone groups

### Version 6.2.0.1754-beta

* Updated ToC for 6.2
* Fixed autolayout by group: it now shows as many groups as needed to show the highest group with an online player in it when in group mode. (ticket #795)
* Another fix for pets not being displayed (ticket #798)
* Fix for right-click menu enabled on startup despite setting (ticket #807)
* Fix for layout when in a party (not raid) in the world

### Version 6.0.3.1746-beta

* Layout size is now based on the maximum group size for the current instance, rather than the actual group size, to resolve several issues (ticket #795)
* Fixed pets not being displayed when using the By Group layout (ticket #798)
* Fixed the Low Mana Warning status not activating (ticket #780)

#### Known issues in this version

* The background frame does not always resize itself correctly when the group size changes in combat.
* Some group members may still be hidden if your raid is full (20 players in a mythic raid, 30 players in other difficulties) but you have arranged your raid groups so that not all groups are full (eg. only 2 players in group 1). If you use this kind of group arrangement, please post a ticket or in the forum thread to let me know.

### Version 6.0.3.1740-beta

* Fixed a number of layout-related issues
* Fixed an error when switching profiles (ticket #783)
* Fixed an issue with the Center Icon size (ticket #785)
* Fixed an issue with the Mouseover status sticking or activating randomly (ticket #791)
* Added a status to display Stagger on monks (thanks Greltok!)

### Version 6.0.3.1714-beta

* There is now only one "Raid" layout selection, and the built-in layouts will automatically adjust to match your current instance type and group size.
* There is now a "By Role" layout that will group players by their assigned tank/healer/damager roles.
* There are no longer separate "w/ Pets" layouts; use the "Show Pets" option on the Layout tab to add pets to any of the built-in layouts.

-------------------

### Version 6.0.3.1710

* Temporary fix for raid difficulty detection: LFR, Normal, and Heroic will use your chosen "Flexible Raid" layout, and Mythic will use your "25 Player Raid" layout. In the near future, all built-in layouts will automatically adjust their size for your current raid, and there will only be one "Raid" layout setting.
* Fixed an issue with right-click bindings in Clique (ticket #747)
* Fixed the Mouseover status not triggering when "Show Tooltip" was set to "Never" (ticket #770)
* Fixed another issue with status counts (eg. aura stacks) (ticket #768)
* Fixed the Resurrection status (ticket #745)

#### Known issues in this version:

* WoW is currently reporting incoming heal and absorb amounts that are much too small, so Grid will also show incoming heal and absorb amounts that are much too small. There is nothing I can do about this other than wait for Blizzard to fix the problem on their end.

-------------------

* Added default buffs for monks.

Hiding playerframe while in a group/raid

Heya

Was curious if it's possible to hide your own playerframe while in a group or raid when using grid?

I've been looking through the config but can't seem to find an option for it.

Appreciate any help I can get!

Regards

Do you use Clique or another click-casting addon? If so, make sure you didn't accidentally bind left-click to your profession.

Otherwise, that sounds like a perfect example of random problems caused by a corrupted game cache; exit WoW and delete everything inside the [ World of Warcraft \ Cache \ WDB ] folder.

If neither of the above help, run through the troubleshooting steps outlined here:
http://phanx.net/addons/addonhelp.html
... and report back with the results.

Hi, Phanx

Hope you can help! Out of the blue Grid has started opening up one of my profession windows instead of targetting whenever I left-click someone. Any idea idea as to why this might be?

Cheers

Oh. There is no "configuration mode" where you can show a bunch of dummy frames. The way Grid is written (using Blizzard's secure group header system) doesn't support this.

The old "Show Frame" option wouldn't have helped; it only let you toggle Grid on/off for different group types (solo, party, raid), which can be accomplished now by selecting the "None" layout for a particular group type.

If a single frame isn't enough for you to set up most things (and then adjust the position once you're actually in a raid), you could invite some friends or guildmates to a group while you're doing dailies or idling in town, or queue up for AV and hang out in the spawn cave.

Also, since you mentioned wanting to be able to "move the layouts", I just want to clarify that Grid's position is saved for the whole profile, not per layout. The layout you choose for a particular group type only affects how many unit frames are shown and in what order. If you want Grid to be in a different place on the screen for different group types, you will need to set up separate profiles, and switch between them as desired.

To create a new profile:
Grid > Profiles > Other > Type the desired profile name and press Enter

To copy the settings from the first profile to the new profile:
Grid > Profiles > Copy from > Select the first profile's name (probably Default)

To switch between profiles:
Grid > Profiles > Choose > Select the desired profile

There are also several plugins that can switch between profiles automatically under certain conditions. A list of layout-related plugins that may be of use to you can be found here:
http://www.wowace.com/addons/grid/pa...layout-plugins

Thank you, and I apologize if this may seem to be rude, but, how is this supposed to help me with my problem? I really want to be able to see the frames (other than the single one that shows up when you are not grouped) so I can position them before I get into a group or raid.

Yes, I have changed a few settings, but I still have "solo" set to a group so I can see Grid. Do I need to get a plug in so I may see my frames to position them? If so, which one, please. There are several that have to do with layouts, but they all seem to just add a specific layout style to Grid.

I just want to be able to see the layouts and position them before I have to use them.

I also apologize for the tone of my post. I am severely frustrated and feel as though there is some functionality here that I am just not seeing or am not aware of.

Your first two screenshots look correct. The third screenshot is from a very old version of Grid, before support was added for setting different layouts for different group types.

It looks like you've changed some settings from their default values. Make sure that the layout is not set to "None" for the type of group you're currently in. For instance, if you're not in a group, make sure that Frame > Solo Layout is not set to "None". You can always change it back later if you don't want to see Grid while you're solo.

Edit: I went ahead and updated the screenshots of the configuration menus, too.

Frames?

I have a bit of a problem. I'm new to Grid and I downloaded/installed Grid v1.30300.1290, and I have no option showing anywhere that will allow me to see and position my frames. Is this normal? Do I need a plug-in to give me that capability? I have uninstalled/reinstalled twice, and I realize this doesn't always fix problems but I figured it was worth a try.

Here a two screen shots to illustrate my problem.

For comparison, here is the preview picture from the main page

As you can see, there is no "Show Frame" option for me. There is also none in the GUI options. Yes, I read the Guide.

Sorry about the large post. I'm just trying to see if I messed something up somehow.

I'd recommend that you change that setting back to its default value of downloading only release versions, or at least only release and beta versions. Addon authors have to intentionally mark versions as release or beta, whereas every commit made to the addon's repository is available automatically as an alpha version.

If you want things to work the way they did before you updated, you have two options:

1. Update your plugins. Like I said, the majority of plugins were already updated, so if the plugins you're using are actively supported by their authors, this should solve the "problem". However, without knowing what plugins you use, I can't tell you with any certainty whether updates are available, so you'll actually have to find out yourself.

2. Download an older version of Grid (I'd suggest sticking with a stable release version), either from this page, or from Curse.com.

Edit: Also, to clarify, none of your settings were altered in any way. Once you get your plugins up to date, all of your settings are still there, and everything should work just as it did before.
Thank you, I finally could make it and I didn't loose any of my settings (I downloaded Grid from this page and overwrote the alfa version).

r1293 is an alpha version that is only available on wowace.com, and as such is not intended for widespread use by normal addon users. If you want to use alpha versions, you can, but you should expect that they will not always work. Generally, you should only post on WoWI about files that are actually released on WoWI.

That said, there were no changes in r1293 that should affect plugins. If the problem also occurs with the latest release version (1.30300.1290, available on this page) then it is most likely not actually a problem at all, but rather the expected result of using outdated plugins. As per the change log for this release:

The related changes in Grid were made in alpha versions back in December; plugin authors whose plugins weren't already compatible had over four months to make the very minor changes required.

The majority of plugins were updated well in advance of this release. If you've double-checked and there is actually no update available for a plugin, then you will need to either wait for its author to update it, or find a replacement plugin whose author actively maintains it.
First of all, I don't use WoWace. My Grid updated from curseclient, it's the usual way I use to install and update all my addons. I don't know wether it is an alpha version or not, I just want my settings back as they were before yesterday when I updated, so is there something I can do to fix that? Or rather go back to the point before the update?
