Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 5.4.7.1653
by: Phanx, Greltok, Pastamancer
Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.

Please do not use the Bug/Feature buttons to the right, or send me PMs asking for help, reporting bugs, or requesting features. Use the links below instead!

The compact grid of units lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

IMPORTANT: If you are using any version of Grid other than the one posted on this page — such as an alpha version from WowAce — please do not post on this page about any problems you encounter with it. Alpha versions are development snapshots, are not officially supported, and may be buggy or broken, delete your settings, or crash your game. The release (and sometimes beta) versions posted to WoWInterface.com and Curse.com are actually tested.

Language Support

Grid is compatible with English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文 game clients.

Grid is translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano (partial), Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

Hint: The WowAce interface for adding translations is rather cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into Notepad, fill in your translations, and then paste the new data back into the system using the Import function.

Credits

Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!
Version 5.4.7.1653
  • Added Soulstone support to the Incoming Resurrection status
  • Added an option to choose a layout to use in Flex Raids (Greltok)
  • Improved options layout for statuses with multiple colors (Greltok)
  • Most statuses will no longer try to update for units not in visible range (ticket #714)
  • Moved Grid's options to the standard Interface Options window, with an option to prefer the old standalone window
  • Removed combined count/duration option for aura text (feel free to use a plugin if you want to spam yourself)
  • [API] GridRoster's IsGUIDInRaid method has been renamed to IsGUIDInGroup. The old name still exists as an alias, but plugins are encouraged to update anyway.

Version 5.4.1.1628
  • Fixed dispellable debuff detection for priests with Mass Dispel
  • Added a combined count/duration display for aura text (Mikk)

Version 5.3.0.1621
  • Fixed switching to the "None" layout

Version 5.3.0.1618
  • Moved the drag tab up slightly to avoid overlapping the backdrop
  • Fixed an issue causing the Center Icon indicator to appear behind the frame
  • Fixed the icon display for the Unit Name status
  • Added support for druids dispelling diseases with Cleanse via Symbiosis cast on a paladin

Version 5.3.0.1611
  • Fixed a frame layering issue

  • Added clamp insets to allow the frame borders to be offscreen
  • Fixed dispel capability detection for druids, and for warlocks with imps
  • Fixed the "World Raid as 40 Player" option (thanks Greltok)
  • Fixed the default aura status for Eternal Flame
  • Fixed errors from the resurrection status module

Version 5.2.0.1573

  • Added a By Class 40 layout
  • Added an option to use the 40-Player Raid layout while in a raid group outside of an instance
  • Added an option to change the layout frame background texture

  • Changed the "Hide tab" and "Hide minimap icon" option to "Show tab" and "Show minimap icon" -- translators should verify the localization of these options

Version 5.1.0.1553
  • Updated for WoW 5.1

Version 5.0.5.1552
  • Fixed delays in updating for group changes in battlegrounds (ticket #631)

  • Added default buffs for monks.
  • Added an option to show the Debuff Type statuses only when your character can dispel them.
  • Grid is now hidden during pet battles (ticket #643).
  • Status opacity now has its own option, instead of being part of the status color option.
  • Fixed an issue with range checking while solo (ticket #627).
  • Fixed an issue causing icons to be hidden on auras with duration text or coloring enabled (ticket #644).
  • Removed backwards compatibility with WoW 4.x.
  • The Resurrect status module now uses LibResInfo-1.0.

  • Fixed the text color when disabling the "Invert text color" option.
  • Fixed range checking on dead targets for monks.
  • Fixed the Resurrection module's handling of res casts on targets who already had a res available.

  • Added monks to the By Class layouts.
  • Added the Blizzard raid bar texture.
  • Increased the default font size from 11 to 12.
  • Increased the default width of the config frame to prevent random wrapping bugs.
  • [API] Status parameter may be passed as either the traditional argument list, or as a table.
  • [API] Status "range" parameter is now treated as a boolean, not a number.

Version 4.3.4.1485-beta
  • Added a new Resurrect status module.
    • Please report any and all issues with this to the WowAce ticket tracker!
    • If you use the GridStatusRes plugin, you should disable it, or unassign its "Incoming resurrection" and "Resurrected" statuses from all indicators.
    • Core support for Soulstones will be added in a future release.
  • Fixed range checking on dead units (ticket #566).
  • Fixed the options for removing custom auras (thanks jlam).
  • Fixed an issue that caused some Frame settings not to be updated when switching to another profile (ticket #556).
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused borders and text to appear blurry or distorted when UI scaling is disabled.
  • Improved range checking on dead units for death knights, druids, and warlocks.

  • Added options for showing duration and/or stack count using the status color and/or text (ticket #421, patch provided by Jlam).

Version 1.40000.1400-beta
  • This is a beta release.
  • The options frame layout has been improved. Note that some plugins (such as those that add new indicators) may cause the options layout to break to some degree until they are updated.
  • Fixed a bug causing frames and groups to be misaligned (ticket #447).
  • Buffs with "Show mine" selected will no longer display for units out of visible range (ticket #438).
  • Buffs with "Show when missing" selected will now correctly display on icon indicators (ticket #412).
  • Third-party modules will now be correctly included in the Debug menu.
  • Added an option to toggle the drop shadow effect on the center text indicators.

  • Pets other than your own should now be displayed.

Version 1.40000.1360-alpha
  • Updated for Patch 4.0.1 and Cataclysm
  • Typing "/grid" will now open a real configuration UI.
  • Incoming heal data is now obtained from the WoW client itself. LibHealComm-4.0 is no longer supported.

bars

Litmus does a good job indeed
For the cast bar i use eCastBar (ECB) theres a version that takes into account your lag too!

Now the only thing i havent figured out is WHY the icons are so large in the middle of each squares... they are larger then on the screen shot on this page. I can hardly see the back of the square when theres one up so i have to disable the feature. Id love if the icons were scalable.

Could you please add the Earth Shield (shaman resto talent) buff to the list?
Id like being able to monitor who has one on and when it runs out.

Thx.

Klik

Hi, Just to let you guys know i found a click cast mod that works with GRID
its called Kilk, its got a lot of addons packacted with it but all you need
is klik, klikcast, klikconfig and kliktooltip the rest can be trashed.

Now im just missing a mana bar and maybe a cast bar that i can put close to the GRID and im gonna be set...

Oh right... one last thing, I have a problem with the ICONS appearing in the middle of the squares they are too big and im left with just a milimeter of the background thats still showing... not very great to see the healt of a unit... I often dont heal some players because i just dont realize they were down in healt.

I have low mana set for the border alert - casters with low mana get a pale blue border. Really pretty effective. But I do understand you request. I also use Litmus, available here.

2 suggestions

When raiding, this little "grid" becomes my whole world and i lose track of everything else going on on my screen... for this reason i would really appreciate it IF you could put our mana bar to the left of the grid, now not show our mana in our square int he grid really a dedicated meeter for our own mana, a simple vertical blue bar type of thing.

This way i can monitor my mana pool without loosing focus of the raid's healt satus.

When i think of it though... an OOM warning in the grid for party members could be usefull... maybe its already there, ill have to look it up.

Thx.

One other thing, id apreciate if we coud "click heal" with your addon
As in left click casts one spell middle click another spell and right click another one

Maybe theres another addon that can allready be used for that but im not aware of it if someone has a suggestion id be glad to hear it.

Thx!

Just picked this up tonight (finally) after putting it off for a while. My one question is this: Is it possible to show Mana deficit, just like Health deficit? I turned on the Center Text 2 option and it'd be nice to have the top line show health deficit and the bottom line show mana deficit.

Just wondering if there was an option I missed somewhere or a plugin I didn't see. As a hunter (and therefor a puller) it would be helpful to see if anyone needs to drink before I pull.

Pet Support

I too, would love you forever if you would add pet support!

Also, maybe a status like Feign Death for Spirit of Redemption? Otherwise it just looks like the priest healed to full.

Substitute unit ID's for names? Except when displaying a name of course. They are guaranteed to be unique.

Or maybe as a "quick" hack, append unit ID to player names and separate that before using the unit ID for everything. Makes all names unique too.

Example: Joseph#party1 Haroon#partypet1

I used # in the examples because it is visibly obvious, and not usable in names so easy to parse out with say:

s = "Haroon#partypet1";
name = string.match(s, "^[^#]+");
unitid = string.match(s, "[^#]+$");

Grid Questions

Hello,

I am slowly using Grid more and more. There are a couple of features I would like to see:

1. Pets. It would be nice to be able to turn on and off pets. Maybe even just have them in a seperate grid layout?

2. Target! Most of all, I want a floating box that is my current target. And if I have a raid/party member targeted, I want that box to be THEIR target.

Thanks for the great addon!

Re: Hide Party Frames?

I am a new convert to GRID, but I have a question: How do you hide the Party Frames when using GRID?

The Party Frames are the portraits of the four other party members that appear under your portrait when you are in a party. The Blizzard UI has an option to hide the party frames when you are in a raid, but, obviously, not when you are in a party. When you are using GRID you don't need the party frames and they clutter up the screen.

Is there a way to hide them?
Since Grid doesn't show pets, I don't recommend hiding the party frames, but if you really want to:

Copy and paste this into a macro and then click the macro.

Code:
/run for i=1,4 do local f=getglobal("PartyMemberFrame"..i);f:UnregisterAllEvents();f:Hide() end
Reload your ui to get the party frames back.
