Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Do not use comments to report bugs or request features. Such comments will be deleted. Use the links above to post a ticket instead!
Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

Those errors indicate that several of your third-party plugins are trying to use translated strings from Grid that no longer exist. Make sure you have the latest versions of both GridStatusRaidDebuff and GridAutoFrameSize; both have changelog notes indicating they were updated for changes in Grid since the last Grid release. Once you have verified that you do have the most recent versions, file bug tickets for those plugins to alert their authors that they should stop being lazy and provide their own translations for stuff they need.

Seems like this update of Grid; caused quite a few independent Grid Plug-ins to break.

My apologies ahead of time if this is not something pertaining to grid itself; and in part because of the plug-ins calling on removed functions. I hope I didn't overlook something so blatantly obvious.

Oddly enough it was working with the most recent previous version of grid; until I died during a BT run and it just kept spewing errors no matter what. So I tried an update; which then allowed it to actually load. But now giving these new errors.

#1 One was referring to "BORDER"
#2 Next was "Center Icon"
#3 Last was "None"

Most of them are referring to the AceLocal-2.2.lua (Heres one)

No. The way Grid was written simply does not support multiple independent frames, and I don't see nearly enough value in that ability to completely rewrite the addon to support it.

All of the plugins you listed were updated weeks or even months ago to be compatible with global-less versions of Grid. I just downloaded and logged in with the latest release versions of all four, and did not get any error messages or experience any other problems. Generally, if you update an addon and start having problems with other addons that interact with it, the first thing you should do is see if those other addons were also updated...

Hack to get some Grid addons to work.

I was getting errors with the following Grid addons with the newest version:

GridIndicatorCornerPlus
GridIndicatorIconBar
GridManaBars
GridStatusChainWho

I found that the addons where trying to reference variables from Grid that are now defined as local..

So i did these quick modifications :

GridFrame.lua (Line 4)
Code:
local GridFrame = Grid:NewModule("GridFrame")
to

Code:
GridFrame = Grid:NewModule("GridFrame")
GridStatus.lua (Line 10)
Code:
local GridStatus = Grid:NewModule("GridStatus", "AceModuleCore-2.0")
to

Code:
GridStatus = Grid:NewModule("GridStatus", "AceModuleCore-2.0")

So the other addons work as usual.. Not sure how many global Grid variables have been made local, but i was just trying to get them to work.

Update Grid. Update any Grid plugins you use. Then, follow the bug reporting procedures as outlined in the addon description.

2. Are there any error messages? (Install BugSack)

3. Does the problem occur when switching to a different profile? (If you use the Choose profile function, the settings you're currently using will not be affected, and you can simply Choose that profile again afterward.)

I'll have to try those out to see. I was pressed for time when I noticed it originally. I suspect it may be the gridmana bars addon, but I'm not sure as it worked fine. I just reverted to an old build of Grid, never had any errors with either version, old or new.
The numerical deficit showed, but the background visual didn't.

Grid update

Health deficits aren't showing after this last update. I haven't changed any settings after applying it. Makes healing a bit rough, what do I need to change to get the deficits back? All the settings seem to be the same as the old version I was using.

  • Added dual spec support.
  • Added "By Class" layouts without pets.
  • The health bar background will now be colored correctly (instead of black) when "Invert Bar Color" is enabled but "Use class colors" is disabled on the Unit Health status.
  • The minimap icon will now be correctly shown or hidden when changing profiles.
  • Switching specs will no longer cause a momentary freeze.
  • Updated embedded libraries for WoW 3.3.5. (Note that this does NOT break compatibility with 3.3.3 or lower, so you can safely update Grid even if your locale hasn't patched yet.)

There is a Lua error; your error handler sucks.

That said, the problem is actually in one of the libraries Grid uses, and an update will be posted later tonight to resolve the issue. For now, just relog instead of reloading your UI.

Noticing since the last patch, a /reload will make Grid just go Pure Black.
No lua error or anything
