BindPad - GUI to set keybindings for spell/item/macro   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
BindPad -- Created by Tageshi

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. WHAT IS "BindPad"?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

BindPad is an addon to make KeyBindings for spells, items, and macros.
You no longer need actionbar slots just to make Key bindings for your macores etc.

BindPad addon provides many icon slots in its frame. You can drag and drop
anything into one of these slots, and click the slot to set KeyBindings.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. HOW TO USE "BindPad"?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Type /bindpad or /bp to display BindPad frame.
(Also you can find "Toggle BindPad" Keybinding command in standard
KeyBindings frame of Blizzard-UI.)

(2) Open spellbook frame (p), you bag (b), or Macro Panel (/macro).
(Also you can use three mini-icons on BindPad frame to open these windows.)

(3) Drag an spell icon, item icon, or macro icon using left button drag and
drop it onto the BindPad window.
(Maybe you need shift key + left button drag if action bars are locked.)

(4) Now you see the icon placed on BindPad frame. Click it,
and a dialog window "Press a key to bind" will appear.

(5) Type a key to bind. And click 'Close' button.

(6) When you want to remove icons from BindPad frame, simply drag away the icon
and press right click to delete it.

Note that KeyBinding itself will not be unbinded when you delete the icon.
To unbind it, click the icon and click Unbind button on the dialog window.
Also you can simply override Keybindings.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. HOW TO USE TABS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are four tabs on BindPad frame; 'General Slots', '<Character> Specific Slots',
'2' and '3'. (aka. 2nd and 3rd <Character> specific slots)
Any icons placed on 'General Slots' are for all characters of your account.
Those on '<Character> Specific Slots' are for that specific character only.

Note that you can use '<Character> Specific Slots' tab only after you click
'Character Specific Key Bindings' check box at standard KeyBindings frame of Blizzard-UI.

From BindPad version 1.5, you can see this checkbox on BindPad window itself too.
(Also BindPad will inform you about 'Character Specific Key Bindings' and automatically
activate it for you when you click '<Character> Specific Slots' tab.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. "You want to convert this icon into a BINDPAD MACRO?"... What?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"BindPad Macro" is a new feature from BidPad version 1.8.0 ;
which allow you to make almost unlimited number of virtual macro icons.

Older versions of BindPad just let you save your limited action bar slots.
This new BindPad will let you save your limited macro slots on the standard
"Create Macro" panel.

Usage:
- Click the small red "+" icon to create an empty BindPad Macro.
- Right-click an existing spell/item/macro icon on BindPad to convert it into a BindPad Macro.
- Right-click the "BindPad Macro" to edit macro-text.
- ...and you can use left-click to set keybindings as usual.

Note that BindPad Macro will only exist within the BindPad frame;
You can drag-and-drop them within BindPad, but you cannot drop them outside.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. DETAILS AND MORE INFORMATIONS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

BindPad addon utilizes new functions added from WoW API 2.0 .

You can use these functions (and many others) in any addons or macros.

GetBindingKey("command")
SetBinding("KEY", "command")
SetBindingSpell("KEY", "Spell Name")
SetBindingItem("KEY", "itemname")
SetBindingMacro("KEY", "macroname"|macroid)

Just don't forget to save changes by
SaveBindings(GetCurrentBindingSet());

I love BindPad! BindPad+Dominos+n54=Keybinding Bliss. I have one question though. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but as I have dual specing and BindPad lets me have macros for both specs, is there a way to have separate keybinds for different Bindpad profiles?

Here's an example: I have two sets of gear for two different specs, one for PVP and one for PVE. I use two different trinkets, Medallion of the Alliance and Titan Forge Rune of Accuracy and I want to use Shift+C whenever either is equipped. Is there a way for the keybind to work on both Bindpad profiles?

Thanks!

Please report debug message.

BindPad 2.2.4 will generate an error report message like below in the chat window at login;
Quote:
[BindPad] GetCurrentBindingSet() returned: <the value>
If you happen to encounter this error message at login, please report the return value at Blizzard UI & Macros Forum here.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...48775865&sid=1

It may help Blizzard to fix this bug.

You need to recreate all icons on BindPad.
If you change bindings, it will effect the other computer.

At least for now.

Your friend was able to use keybindings you made til BindPad 2.1.x.

Yes. BindPad needed to change its internal function so that all bindings made don't work without BindPad installed and/or without same Icons placed on BindPad frame.

After all, those keybindings were only sometimes remained on BindPad 2.1.x too. Spec change of dualspec and BindPadMacro would break those keybindings on your friend's computer with BindPad 2.1.x anyway.

So just give up that idea, and install BindPad on your friend's computer.
I think I have just run into this issue. I am currently using my brother's computer and he didn't have bindpad installed and after reading that post I installed it and still my keybindings aren't working (I guess I am assuming that keybindings I made on my computer would be available on this computer as keybindings are stored on the blizzard servers but I am guessing there is more to it then that).

So I guess my question is, if I have made all my bindings on one computer using bindpad and then go to another computer with or without bindpad do I have to recreate all my bindings on that second computer and will that then effect the first computer?

The only other thing I could think to say..just for the sake of argument & your consideration is the binds don't have much in common either..they've been Shift + F..Shift + D..Mouse 5 and `

Do you think a different error catching addon would make a difference? As in say BugSack vs Swatter..or is an error an error & any addon like that will show it..

It doesn't happen very often anyway..but I'd like to find something tangible if I can ;-D

I've experienced the issue with Divine Plea..Righteous Fury & Hammer of Justice specifically..

I don't really have anything to offer in an attempt to reproduce..I do use swatter & have never seen a single error kicked up by bindpad in as long as I've used it..which is awhile ;-) but I thought I'd point out what I've observed..
Thanks for report. Some other person reported about this mysterious problem too. I thought it might be related to ragnarok00's report at first when I got first report, but it had become clear that it's a different problem as your swatter didn't report any error. More information is always welcomed.

Thanks for report. I think this is the same problem as ragnarok00's report.
Slash command /reloadui will temporaty fix the problem as well as relogging.
I'm going to make workaround for this.
