ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - (cataclysm) issue with restack not using profession bags (it defaults to the reagent bank which doesnt exist yet)

  • added - config options for stack compression to select whether to compress empty slots, non-stackable items, or stackable items

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

KYAA! so i love arkinventory, and without the sorting i would go insane!! One of the problems i have with it is its slow i you have the automatic refreshign thing turned on. And i think i know why.

you know this, but i feel like i need to explain so you get my train of thought lol

IF you turn on the auto refresh option thinger, The bag swells or shrinks depending on if it needs to display more space for objects. Without auto refresh, the objects arent displayed untill refresh. Im fairly sure thats how it works. Tha mod has to process every time something is added in autorefresh mode.

What about this, In Baggins, it doesnt try to shrink the container spaces untill it opens/refreshes. but expands sections it needs to to display things. I think that the auto shrink/expand part of this mod is making it slow. And not to mention when i click somethign i dont want in my bag from my bank, its annoying.

So... i thinnk what im asking for is if there is a way to speed up the process without sacificing functuonality? Baggins is outdated and hard as hell to setup, and there arent any other mods right now that sort into sections.

youre not going to be able to do that until i get around to coding a vertical expansion direction option, which may or may not happen.

sorry, wont happen, too much bother, generates the added complexity of havng to check for mail bouncebacks to stop item duplication.

And while I'm giving suggestions, another one would be to show the expiration times on mail items.
this was being worked on but i couldnt figure out a way to do it properly (yet)

I just wanted to make a minor suggestion that would make life a lot easier for me and I could easily say that this totally replaces my BankItems mod. As I said, this is minor, but it was a great foresight that the other author had when dealing with mail.

When I mail an item from one toon to another, could you update the item counts so that it figures in the item you just sent without having to log to that character? For example, if I have 30x Frostweave Cloth on Toon 1, and 15x Frostweave Cloth in Toon 2's mail, and I mail all 30 to Toon 2, I want it to update the tooltip and say 45x Frostweave Cloth without even logging over to that character. BankItems did this, and it sort of spoiled me TBH, because I loved being able to ship off dozens of stacks of items and never have to log into that character to see the counts.

And while I'm giving suggestions, another one would be to show the expiration times on mail items. Possibly, if you add this option in there, allow a sort option for Mail by the expiration as well (I know it does this now, but would just be another sort possibility I suppose).

Couldn't find anyone else ask this question after several pages, so sorry if you have answered this elsewhere.

I'm having one problem with ArkInventory, and it's fairly simple: I'd like the Guild Bank window to look identical to the Blizzard UI, in terms of item layout. So 16x7 with the same item order. The only reason I really want to use ArkInventory for Guild Bank is because of the search bar, and if I don't have exactly the same bank slot item order, I think my GM will shoot me when I start throwing things in there.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to set this up, I can't seem to figure out just this one detail.

Please advise me if I where to look since I couldn't find my answer. I'm trying to find a way to sort Recipes by Tradeskill. Not a really big deal for my own bags but a real plus in the Guild bank.

Now I'm not one for making rules but I do have Categories. Is their anyway to have a Category recognize the Tradeskill vs the fact that it's a recipe. I have noticed that JC patterns all start with "Design" Is there a way to use this that I can't figure out. Or even a better way to do it?

On a side note to the posts below - I had the blackout problem and was able to fix it. There is an option under the settings frame towards the bottom (I forget exactly the steps to get there as I don't have the game on this computer) it says something like enable "fix" for frame issues or something like that. After checking this box I no longer have issues.

I love this addon! just two feature requests though. I would love it if there could be an option to lock an item in your bags so that if you try to sell it, it tells you that you must unlock it 1st. Another useful option would be an option to make the tooltip display only the item name unless a modifier key is pressed then it would show the whole normal tooltip. (Itemrack uses this on its frames when you create a slot frame and hover it gives you an option to only show the item name, however it doesn't allow for the modifier to show the whole tip.

Anyways, Thanks for a great addon that is irreplaceable.

Item Counts.

Here is a question for you, I LOVE the built in item counting. Saves me time and hassle, and having to use another mod.

That said...I have multiple accounts (as well as my girlfriends account) that I built ONE simple profile for, that I use as a template; then I share it between all my account. However...it has item counts for the character on the original account.

For example, Account 1 has a character list as follows:
Account 1
  1. Mandy
  2. Mindy
  3. Mundy
  4. Moony

Account 2 has a character list as follows:
Account 2
  1. Diddy
  2. Donny
  3. Dinky
  4. Winky

So on my first account it only ever stores the item counts for Account 1, since it is the account I CREATE the profile on, but when I take that profile, put it on my girlfriends PC and load it up, it has all those characters item counts stored already from Account 1, and then adds her accounts characters item counts, which is useless and clutters the tool-tip unbearably. So I end up with item counts for character from two different accounts who aren't even on the same realms. I've taken a look at the files and it seems that the same file used to store all the custom information about the bag layout (size, position, border, custom categories etc, everything I use this mod for :P) are saved alongside the item counts for each character, so I can't simple delete any one file that stores just item counts.

The only solution I am able to discern is simply rebuilding the profile from the ground up on each account individually which would be endlessly painful seeing as how many custom categories i have assigned, the items assigned to those categories, etc. Any idea on how to clear the item counts without having to rebuild the profile from scratch on each PC? Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to hide the empty slots for items in the keyring / etc? I have looked and haven't seen a way.

Also, is there a reason why it's so fidgety with picking up / dropping items. I've noticed that i can't just grab an item on the fly like i can with other bags and drop the item into slots. I have to slowly go to it pick it up and move it.

bar assignments are neutral, they all take the same amount of time

Also I use mostly the name() function in my rules, because it is easier to maintain than id(). Is that bad for AI's performance?
rules are slower than custom categories but both are cached to speed them up, it depends on how much your inventory moves

the main cause of everyday "lag" is actually the sorting, your best bet is to never use instant sorting and to disable sort on open - you click on sort it when you need it sorted, thats the fastest method.

Would it be possible to display every item you assigned to a custom category, even those already sold/deleted/not in your bags anymore for whatever reason?
atm, no, its not possible. i might add it later on into the config menu though (ie where the category stuff currently is)
