ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

probably, it really depends on if another rule is already picking up the item. if you click on the item in edit mode is it already assigned to a rule? if so just re-order the rules so the one you want has a lower number (higher priority)
Debug info says it's GearSet.Tier 1.Hunter.Giantstalker Armor

Is there a way to make that the rule instead?

probably, it really depends on if another rule is already picking up the item. if you click on the item in edit mode is it already assigned to a rule? if so just re-order the rules so the one you want has a lower number (higher priority)

Well, I logged on and checked bank and name( Giantstalker's ) was working. So I made name( Dragonstalker's ) and it wouldn't work. Is there some problem with delay in the refresh? Manually refreshing with the button doesn't seem to get it working. All the rules have a order '0'. Would it be better to change that ?

Search Bags?

I've been using this addon forever it seems like and always loved it and turned many folks on to it. However, I recently tried out Bagnon and fell in love with one simple feature. Being able to type in search criteria and have matching items get highlighted in the my open bag display. I can't tell you how often I sit and stare at my bags wondering where the heck "X" item is (I know it's here somewhere!!).

Any chance of that kind of functionality being added to AI?

nope, the whole thing is dynamic. all you can set is how many icons wide it is and how many bars go on a row, the rest is calculated from that.

Thanks to your earlier post I had rules for my outfits instead of collections of items. I use ItemRack and all my chars have standardized set names such as "Heal" "Tank" "DPS" "Crit" for their items. Unfortunately even before 3.0 the application of this was a bit flaky (an item had better not be in more than one set or bust) but now it appears to not be working at all. I don't know if the problem is in itemrack not exporting sets data or AI not picking it up, but if you can post how to check, I shall.


Update. I spent two hours fiddling today and found I had to do three things. First I deleted all the old rules regarding outfits and created five, in priority order, of Heal Tank DPS DPS+ (for hit and crit set overlays) and Resist. Each was with "outfit ( set1,set2,set3 )" as needed (resist has ResFire ResShad ResFrost etc for example as itemrack set names). Then I went into the saved variables lua, near the bottom, where I found Rule 1-5 were true *and* there was stubs from assorted leftover rules from the past. I deleted those. Finally I went into itemrack, and for each set I changed and then changed back each item in the set to force the item I was using to be saved. Only then did item rack save, get noticed by arkinventory, and start showing up in the appropriate bars.

Steps 1 and 2 may perhaps not have been needed, though assigning priority numbers to the set rules was probably a good idea anyway (if an item used in heal AND tank AND dps, notice it in the heal set first etc).

ai doesnt use acecomm. i also havent included all ace3 libs, just the ones i need, so unless you have a standalone version of ace3 then the mod that wants acecomm is missing its embedded libs

The windows are still showing up behind other frames, but I have another question.

Is there a way to "lock" a box? I love the freedom the mod gives to split things up, but it gets kind of annoying when things constantly get shuffled around as I add stuff to my bank. I like it organized and ordered to an extent, but whenever a box gets resized it throws things out of whack.

Is there a way to makea box stay a certain size? Like to force it to stay 4x5 slots for something like that?

edit: forget about the layer thing on my end, I dumped ct_barmod and am using dominoes now, seems to not have the same issue.

First I want to say I have been using this mod for a long time so thanks for a great program.

I am having a small issue with it lately. On my Warlock I typically have not displayed my ebon bag with my shards. Both in 3.0.1 and 3.0.2 I cannot get it to hide anymore. I uncheck the display feature but the bag and items remain. Is there something I am missing?
