ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

Locking the bags

Is there a way to lock the bag window? Sometimes when i drag quickly the whole box moves, just want to lock it down.

Yeah - I have to agree with you on that one. My memory use was spiraling completely out of control. My main culprits (after disabling the most obvious Gatherer and Auctioneer...) were ArkInv at no.1, closely followed by PitBull, Trinity2 etc etc.

After disabling some addons, ArkInv was using/gaining around 2MiB(Idle) and spiking up to 7MiB on a regular basis. After a raid last night I had my memory ticking at 120MiB before I had to reload due to choppiness issues. There are other addons of course that would contribute to all this (Trinity2, ACE2 etc all rank pretty highly). It's just a matter of nailing down the worst offenders

Cheers though, this has to be the most awesome Bag addon out there by a loooooooong way!! I will continue to use it despite these memory issues

Do you have a target date for a new update (Version) for Ark?
Also, is there a way to lock the bags so they dont move?

Local search

Fanatastic addon first off, i like the fact you included the global search on the frame with the other options. I'd like to see a search bar on the addon frame to locally search items you type in, ie, if you type "Mark of" all items on me that match that criteria will be clear the rest will gray out. This would be fantastic to see happen, ty in advance.

Memory Issue?

First off I want to say I really like the look and feel of this mod. I've yet to come across another that comes even close to this one.

However as of late I've noticed some concerning memory issues. At first I thought it was just network\isp lag but after some testing it seems to be within the mod. The lag I refer to is when moving items from one spot to another manually or manually transfering an item from my bags to say the bank or mailbox.

The next issue is with opening my bags or the bank. Each time I open it adds .2mb - .3mb to my current memory use. Using the /console reloadui command will reset it back to its prior level. Opening the bank is a much larger number. 1-1.5mb.

To test this I deleted my entire WTF and Interface folders. I then reinstalled ArkInventory as well as FuBar and PerfomanceFu. So those are the only 3 mods currently running. I did not set up any Rules or Profiles nor did I login as any other characters. No sorting was set up either. The only data saved in Ark is for a single toon.

I really wish to continue using this mod and I hope this will help in correcting any problems.

First of all, greatest mod I've ever used. I've tried different inventory addons, and this is still the best by far.

Some questions:

1. I created some rules and assigned an item to it, but accidentally assigned to something else. How do I clear/revert that rule assignment? I tried to clear it, but every time I bring up the bags it still belong to the old rule window. In my example, I accidentally assigned a "feral" druid item into "pvp", but when i tried to clear that assignment from the "pvp" window, it won't go anywhere. Help please?

2. Does this mod work with outfit mods such as Closetgnome, Outfitter or ItemRack? I'd really like to see something similar that I can create outfits then assign them as rules, or some 'import' feature that I can copy settings from an outfit to the bags.

3. Is it possible to copy settings from "bags" into "bank bags"? Or import it? I remember at one point it used to be copying bag settings into banks by default. It's no longer doing that and I assume it's intentional? Is it possible to 'import' settings from bags manually? It's a lot of work trying to recreate all the settings I have from bag to bank.

I'm sorry if this has been resolved somewhere else, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere. I am having a problem similar to acapela's, only it shows No Data when I try to open my bags at all, and I cannot click several of the buttons. I also receive this error upon logging in:

Error: attempt to index field 'local' (a nil value)

I also assumed a conflict with another mod, but the error persists even when AI is the only addon enabled. I have the latest version and have also tried the 2.26c beta, and all my libraries are up to date.

I asked Mundocani about it. He said:
Regarding notification, Outfitter 4.1 added a new event "EDIT_OUTFIT" which other addons can register for in order to be notified of outfit modifications. It's fired when they change settings for an outfit or change the equipment on the outfit.


So any chance ArkI can use that to automatically update outfit() equipment without opening and saving the rule manually?

your only choice atm is to make a copy of your arkinventory.lua file under the savedvariables directory - put it outside your wow directory.

i always include upgrade code so that things are converted where necessary so all you should need to do is make sure you keep a couple of copies in a safe place in case of emergencies.

dewdrop menu system is a bit touchy. when it goes loopy theres not much you can do apart from a /RL (reload ui). it usually stuffs up on the sliders.

not much i can do except write my own menu system which i dont really want to do. i just put up with it like everyone else.
