ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing

Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

3.10.25 (07-MAR-2024)
  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1829 - issue with add fields in config pages accepting a dropped item but not being able to handle it, they will now ignore it unless it can be used (adding an item to a custom category)
  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1867 - menu library issue with ColorPickerFrame
  • changed - the search window should now load a bit faster, and should update significantly faster
  • changed - switch character menu layout to accomodate people with characters on lots of servers

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

is Ace2 being shown as a separate entity in the memory monitor? i don't think i've seen mine go over 10mb - it can't just keep going up, the garbage collection has to kick in at some point. also when the window is closed there is no code activity (or at least only enough to listen for some events) so there shouldn't be any increase at all if you just sit there.

Hi, nice addon

Replace:
["WOW_SKILL_HERBALISM"] = "Herborister\195\173a",
for:
["WOW_SKILL_HERBALISM"] = "Bot\195\161nica",

in esES.lua to prevent one error on WOW startup.

Again, nice addon, thank you for it.

memory usage

Hi,

I've been using ArkInventory and absolutely love the wide range of usage. I use Outfitter, and I can create catagories of virtual bag assignments that match them (of course, if there is a way to automate this, it would be awesome, but I don't mind doing in manually).

My concern is the memory usage. I use PerformanceFu and ArkInventory starts out with 7MB and continues to accumulate at a pace of 1.5KiB/s. I would usually have trouble during instances when the memory usage is too high, mainly in the 55-60MB range.

Is there a way to find out how much usage Ark is actually taking? Is there a way to reduce it?

Thanks, and keep up this great mod!

it is still in there you know. just changed slightly to match up with the new rules and has one step required before use - you have to create an empty rule first, then you can right click assign as per normal.

i am looking at making that easier for people who don't want to use rules by adding a menu option to create an empty rule (just above the current rule to assign it). i'm also trying to make it easier for people to see which rules an item is already being collected by, by making them green in the list of rules to add an item to.

i know some people won't like the rules at first but i think once they realise what they can do with them they will. that was one of the reasons i left it 'difficult' to do things the old way (by not coding the extra stuff in yet), i wanted people to play with the rules to see what they could do, not just use it the old way.

I agree with sugarKane about how easy the old way was to change the category of one item. It was simple. Please add the right-click category assignment back to the mod

I appreciate your mod and your willingness to share it with the community. Most of you (mod authors) often make a mod for themselves and end up sharing it with the rest of us and have no obligation to change it this was or that to appease everyone (the 22,689 that have downloaded it). And while I can understand your point of view in the above quoted comments I agree with the poster whose comment you responded to.

Why replace the core functionality in your product with something completely different (and has a learning curve) than what we've been used to for so long? Who wants to "write a formula that will match that item (and others like it)"? Initial configuration is fine, but what about when you start to accumulate a large number of items that you need to change the category for? I don't want to have to write rules for all that stuff, I want to right-click and assign.

As only one of 22,689 I ask: please add the right-click category assignment back to the mod.

Hi, arkayenro!
Yes, that is a way.
What I meant was that I assigned a rule to an item (which was a mistake from my side^^) and i wasn't able to reassign the default system rule in the right-click menu.
If you have to much time and you think it's a good idea, maybe you want to implement it.

/cheers

I saw that I can delete all rules. And that's probably what I will do

Getting back to default?

Hi arkayenro!

I like your mod.
Used it yesterday the first time and was just trying things.

I didn't find a way to get rid of ONE rule that I assigned to ONE item?
Is there a way? If not, will there be a way?

I saw that I can delete all rules. And that's probably what I will do

Edit: No memory issues from my side. It didn't make it to the top 5. It's all good

thanks

you don't *have* to code up the rules if you don't want to, you can just treat them like custom categories.

AI is never going to be what everyone wants, so if it doesn't meet your needs then obviously you should look for another mod that does.

i'm only using around 4-6mb while idle are you sure the memory profiler you using isn't adding all the Ace2 memory into ArkInventory's pool? (just that as it's usually the first mod to load ace some of them combine the memory)

even auctioneer only uses around 15mb and thats the biggest (memory wise) mod i've ever seen

Aw man. I liked it better the old way where you just went edit, rclick item, change category, done. Now we have to "code" in the categories? I'm sure it's not hard at all, but it was definitely easier the old way. What was so wrong with the way previous versions did it that it now needs rules to be coded?

I for one have had to switch back to bagnon.

i'm not really worrying about memory usage (and it was fairly low lsat time i looked - if you discount the bursts when opening), i'm more interesting in making it faster

lol just exemple shammy cant add fish oil ,fish scale & totem on shaman category.
thats not a bug, thats a limitation in the default categories - the default categories are a starting point, they're not entirely accurate because items can go into so many places. that's why rules exist.

when you try make a new bar for trinket everything come with
need more details. what was the rule you used?

and imposible to split soulbond & non soulbond armor again everything come
considering theres a soulbound() function that you can negate via not it should be very simple to do what you want.
