About
This is a Status plugin for Grid, so Grid is required to use this addon. For pet support you must have Grid r58645 or later which can be found on wowace.com.

I've seen people request bringing in the Squishy feature where it highlights the person you should be healing based on a priority system. Maia & Pastamancer's stance seemed to be to have someone else write it as a seperate module, so I made the attempt. This is my first mod so be kind.

What it does
It keeps track of the first and second priority units and highlights them with colors so you know which unit could use your healing the most.

Instructions

  1. Download and install Grid
  2. Download GridStatusHealPriority
  3. Unzip the file into the Addons folder just like any other mod (do not install it in the Grid folder).
  4. When in game, right click the Grid icon and make sure the Heal Priority: 1st and Heal Priority: 2nd status modules are enabled.
  5. Then go to frames, then border, and enable Healer: First Priority and Healer: Second Priority and disable the other statuses.

Logic
Instead of only going by health percentages, the following statuses are used to weight the unit:
  • Is In Combat (focus heals on the warrior who is trying to get aggro rather then the warlock who hasn't engaged)
  • Is In Range (filter out people you can't heal due to range)
  • Is In Party (heal people in your own groups first)
  • Is Main Tank (prioritize if the unit is a oRA/CTRA main tank)
  • Is Focus Unit (prioritize if the unit is the player's focus unit - /focus)
  • Is Out Of Mana (lower priority on healing mana users as they get close to being out of mana)
  • Has Aggro (prioritize if they have aggro since they will probably be taking more damage soon)
  • Has Incoming Heal (lower priority if they already have an incoming heal from another healer)
  • Has PW Shield (lower priority if they have a power word shield on them)
  • Has WSG Flag (prioritize for flag carriers in wsg)
  • Has Nasty Debuff (if the unit has a certain debuff, it becomes a higher priority)
  • Has healing prevention debuff (don't prioritize)
  • Has high threat

Also, to avoid healers focusing their heals all on the same target, I took the class modifier idea from Squishy but modified it a little.

Priests focus on critical raid members:
  1. Warriors
  2. Druids, Priests, Mages
  3. (raid)

Paladins & Shaman focus on raid members who typically take a lot of damage:
  1. Priests
  2. Warriors, Paladins, Shamans, Rogues
  3. (raid)

Druids focus on raid members who have a lot of health:
  1. Paladins & Shaman
  2. Warriors, Druids, Warlocks & Hunters
  3. (raid)

Subgroup prioritizing:
If group 2 has 3 healers and no tanks or melee, and group 5 has no healers but 3 rogues, then group 5 units will have a higher priority then g2 units. Basically the more healers a group has, the lower the priority, and the more tanks & melee units a group has, the higher the priority.

Credits
All credit should go to Maia for the code I borrowed from Squishy and Pastamancer and Maia for providing all the tools in Grid to be able to write this plugin.

* Added fix for Banzai error.

Great mod, i love it, but I don't use the second priority healer though, just don't want the square to get clustered with dot. I suppose if I disable the second priority and the mod still working good?

1) If you enable both First and Second priorities as border indicators, they will be different colors (First is brighter then second).

2) If you enable the First priority and disable the second it works as you would expect. It will always highlight the highest priority. I highly recommend enabling both though, as it helps give you an idea who you should heal next.

Well, didn't think that I could put both of first and second in the same corner (I already use frame border as low health warning). And now it's even better. I download GridStatusHealer before but didn't use it because the recommended system was just based on health, now yours is much better.

Yes I do miss squishy + uber heal

Thanks again, hope it would get new features to improve soon.

You can put First and Second priority in the same corner (I prefer the borders myself though). And the colors will be different. The First priority will be brighter. You can even customize the colors and alpha if you like. The beauty of Grid

All suggestions for improvement are welcome. I don't read minds so if you have an idea, please share If you are waiting for some of the ideas I discussed on wowace.com forums, then you may have to wait about 2 weeks for them to be implemented.

I'm glad you like the addon. It's nice to see other people using it.

Call me illiterate or stupid, probably both, but I can't find the option to turn this great addon on.
"When in game, right click the Grid icon and make sure the Healer: First Priority & Healer: Second Priority status modules are enabled."
When I right click Grid, I just can't find this option, although GSH shows up in the list of installed addons.
Any ideas? A screenshot probably?

Hmm

I'm at work right now, but I believe when you right click grid, "Status" is an option. In there you should see the healer: first and second priority.

Then go to Frame indicators, and make sure the border is enabled for Healer: First, etc.

Hope it helps.

I'll see.
Hopefully it works on my PC, since this li'l mod to Grid looks just like what I was looking for.
Thanks for the prompt response!

GridStatusHealer now has support for IncomingHealsLib (GridStatusIncomingHealth) and VisualHeal (both Ace2 and Ace3 version). This greatly improves the incoming heal detection.

I also added pet support in anticipation of Jerry's branch version of Grid with pet support being merged Pastamancer's official version.

I know this isn't quite on topic, but I was wondering what addon enables Grid to show the name of a damaged unit and its missing health at the same time as seen in your screenshot.

No addons. It's using the options that comes with Grid. Enable text 2 in advanced and configure it to display missing health. Then disable the missing health on text 1.
