Sell-O-Matic Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

The purpose of this mod is to help us sell the kind of items that we get most frequently: For example, you're fishing and loaded with raw fish or gray items.

How to use it:
As simple as going near a merchant and opening their trade window, then you can click on the sell button. By default it will sell all gray items and use no sell or save list.

Options:

Auto sell: Automatically sell the items when you open a vendor.
Information type: You can choose from all to lite the output of the addon.
Show detail: Shows a profit detail of each item.
Use list: Activates the use of sell and save lists.
Show list: Prints the contents of the sell and save lists.
Add item: Adds an item to the sell or save list.
Del item: Deletes an item from the sell or save list.
Reset sell list: Clears the sell list.
Reset save list: Clears the save list.

Using sell/save lists:
With sell and save lists you can personalize which items you want to sell or save. They work as a filter in which you can add the complete name of the items you want to sell/save or part of the name. Here are some examples:

Example #1: You're leveling fishing skill and you're tired of having to sell each fish stack one by one. You can add the word Raw to the sell list and all the uncooked fish will be sold when you push the button. This is because all normal uncooked fish start with the word Raw, so the addon searches for them and sells them for you.
Example #2: You have a fabulous gouging pick poor quality item, but you don't want to sell it. You can add the name of the item to the save list and when you sell all your poor quality items, your pick will remain with you.

Important: Be careful when using part of the item name instead of all the name. For example if you add Basilisk to the sell list, it will sell ALL items that have that word. And remember to have activated the option use list if you want to use sell and/or save lists!

When I first downloaded and used this addon to automate the selling of grey items, I got the shock of my life to see all my items within my inventory sold. That said, I am a hunter in a PVE server, and as result of my arrows sold along with everything else, I was unable to buy back most of my important items.

The first thing I did was to check back on WoWInterface to see if anyone is facing similar problems. Can you blame me for posting a warning on the comments page to anyone interested in the downloading your addon? It took two weeks for the GMs to recover and return the items wrongfully sold.

Also mind you (author of the addon), as I was hastily posting the warning, I was panicking away on what to do. Even so, my comment is neutral and does not contain flaming elements, albeit the lack of screenshots. My priority at that moment is to recover the items sold and to warn the community about a potential problematic addon. If you look at my profile at the time I posted the warning, I only had one post. This is because I specifically registered with WoWInterface just to post a warning.

Due to my panic, I did not take any screenshots. However, below I will post the email which the GM has sent after the items are restored. If there are doubts of authenticity of this email, I will forward it as long as you leave me an email address.

As we have provided restoration for items or characters lost on this account before, we wanted to remind you that restoration is not guaranteed. We do understand that accidents happen, and want to help when we can. Unfortunately, we cannot repeatedly spend time researching items lost to preventable error. If you have a similar accident in the future, please consider carefully whether the loss is important enough to you to warrant using one of your very limited requests.

If you do accidentally sell an item, often you can get the item back without GM assistance. At the bottom right of every vendor window is a “Buyback slot”. The last 12 items sold to a vendor will remain available for repurchase as long as the character does not leave the game or zone to a different area. If this happens the list of items will be cleared. If you have accidentally sold an item, always attempt to repurchase it immediately.

You will find the item(s) already in your character's inventory or in the mailbox as an attachment. If the item(s) were lost due to an accidental sale, the appropriate amount of money will be charged. If you do not pay the COD to retrieve the item from the mail, and the mail expires, unfortunately your restoration will be forfeit.

Please note that items with random modifiers (of the Bear, of the Eagle, etc.) are randomly generated; therefore we are unable to guarantee that you will receive the same modifier you had on your original item. We are also unable to guarantee the restoration of trade skills, as well as enchantments or add-ons (such as gems, scopes, etc.) that your character's items may have possessed. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have been caused.

The last point I wish to discuss is your professionalism (or lack thereof) as a coder. While I do understand how angry you can be, you clearly do not understand the consumers' distress at having everything sold. The fact still remains that something that isn't suppose to happen happened. I can concede the point to you that perhaps I am at fault, being new to addons. I have mentality that addons works the way it is suppose to. However that said, you have admitted that there is a POTENTIAL issue that everything can be sold if certain config is fulfilled. This condition is not stated on WoWInterface or within a README during the time of my usage.

Read back to the comment that you made towards passionfly and I. Can you say that the flaming element is not present or that you are level-headed enough to help solve the issue?

Those are rhetorical questions. Once bitten twice shy. I am very sorry to say I will have to give your addon a pass. This is by no means a warning to others to stay away from your addon.

However for those who are interested, I would like to recommend GBOT and Automaton. These two addons have the function of autoselling grey items and much much more. Search for them on WoWInterface.

I did get my stuff sold every last bit of it in my bags but it was my fault I made a user list or something like that and it sold every thing but I took off the Auto sell list and it works just fine for me again thank you for a nice addon...And the whiner is prob an alli crying because he got ganked when he knows its going to happen on a pvp server anyways! I think everyone has the same addon... why yours did go wrong? If the addon would sell all stuff on your char, dont you think I will have a large large list of people complaining? And my addon banned due to selling all the items of your char? The addon still has its main function... if you dont touch anything (just the sell button) it sells all the grey items, thats it... no lists, no greens, no sellingalltheinventory. I know your mod did it cause I had 4 pages of chat text with the words "SELL-O-MATIC" in front of every damn item in my bags that was sold. Your causing grief to a lot of ppl. I'm just vocal about it cause this mod BLOWS! Why the hell would I (and coincidentally another person having the same issue) come here to address this HORRENDOUS problem this mod has and you blame US??? are you insane or something? Fix your mod its not us. I click Show List button to see what it does and it did nothing so I closed the window, next day I login and go to vendor and POOF everything is gone. In one second 2 years worth of good gear farming and such GONE. If you cant warn ppl about this SHOW LIST function that is not filled with something (I entered nothing there i assure you), then that's YOUR problem not ours! Your bad coding, your bad logic to have a mod do this. Take the stupid SHOW LIST button out, make it so it NEVER sells everything, but don't blame the damn victim for something YOU did by faulty coding. If the SHOW LIST button automatically will sell everything that's in your inventory if nothing if added to the list then THIS IS THE ROOT CAUSE AND PROBLEM OF YOUR MOD, don't blame me, blame yourself. This addon DOESNT use sell lists when first installed. In order to sell all the items in the inventory you have to select the option of use a list and add an item such as " " (blank space), "" or some other special item that will trigger ALL items, but of course, that's not my fault nor the addon... So please, stop whining and complaining. Oh! By the way... Do you have any screenshot? Or its just another theorical post with no proof about it? If you open the main file .lua, you can check the defaults of the addon: Code: local defaults = { profile = { autoSell = false, showDetail = false, useList = false, <== Wont use lists sellList = {}, <== Empty sell list saveList = {}, }, } And since I'm using a DIFFERENT database name from other versions, its cleary IMPOSIBLE to the addon to change the values by itself, someone might have changed them, dont you think? If you prefer other addons rather than this one its ok, there are some other addons that sell grey items, but you dont have to come here posting something that ISNT TRUE and WITHOUT PROOF... I dont know you, but if I download an addon that helps me in something and it deletes items or something that I dont want and the addon doesnt do, I assure you I take a screenshot and PM the author telling him what happened. Upon installation and usage, the addon sold EVERYTHING in my inventory, including my arrows, consumables, additional epic trinkets and reputation related items. There are other safer addons to use than this. Further data: Date of use - 5th Nov '08 Time of use - 23:28 (server time) Patch - WoW 3.03 Others - No conflicts
