LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v70300-1.0.0-2017-12-19
by: Cladhaire [More]

The last date of comment parsing is now part of the addon's filename.

Includes over 166,198 comments for more than 15,560 quests

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Fix LH waypoint set integration

- We now are able to properly reverse WowHead mapFileIds to the in-game
areaIds, so waypoints should be set in the correct zone.
- We don't know how to set a waypoint in an instanced zone, so we just
put those in the current zone
- Integration with MapNotes, Cartographer and friends always set in the
current zone.

I'd be willing to consider the first if wowhead is interested, perhaps I'll bring it up with them =)

I was thinking, and this could be a feature request. Perhaps one day we could get the ability to add quest notes and comments (and properly formatted/valid coordinates) in game and have them saved for the Wowhead client to upload. A collaborative effort for everyone.

Or for that matter, personal quest notes that we can share with our friends in game that also run LightHeaded.

Compressing it would only help on disk, the fact of the matter is the data still needs to be uncompressed to access it. I was doing this initially, and it slowed things down significantly without any gain.

The addon is TINY if you aren't actively using it to quest, and if you're using it to quest its just memory usage. Even the entire database loaded is under 30MB, which will not have any impact on your gameplay, unless you are literally running a wooden computer.

The number may seem high to you, but it pales in comparison to the amount of memory WoW is already consuming on your system.. its a drop in the bucket.

You can always /reload your user interface and it goes back down to 180k or so.

So no, it wouldn't help, unfortunately.
When WoW is running, it is using close to

That would only help with the on-disk storage of the data, and would probably take longer for lh to load in game because you would then need to decompress the data.

To be fair, LightHeaded has _always_ been detachable =)

THANK YOU!!!

SO much for making the LH window detachable. An excellent solution to those horrid quests with silly pictures that obscure the good stuff.

LOVE, LOVE, did I mention, LOVE! this addon.

Parse is incoming, but its failing so I need time to adjust the code for it. I'll get a new scan up as soon as I can.

I've been getting an error when abandoning a quest. The error message is really long, so I apologize if this isn't the place to report it-- but I don't know how else to do so.

You have been able to detach the lightheaded window since the day it was released. It is listed in the addon's documentation and screenshots.

Second Burnam's request

for a detachable lightheaded window.

When there is a picture to accompany the quest, LH text cannot be seen. This is beyond a nuisance and I would love to have the option to detach the LH window JUST so this wouldn't happen. Thanks

Talking Single-click functionality using WoW Objectives Frame

Awesome that you've been able to fix it! This was a minor nuisance, and clicking on another quest (or just opening the WoW quest log fully and clicking on it there) was a sufficient work-around-- but it'll be nice not to have to do it.

Regardless, the point of this addon is to be able to read the Wowhead comments in-game; this bug didn't take away from that functionality, just made the users have to click a couple times to get it. (At least, that was my experience.) Thanks for your continued work on LightHeaded, Cladhaire!

Please calm yourself.

The ONLY issue I can reproduce is the following:

1. Open WoW
2. Click a quest in the objective tracker
3. Close the quest log
4. Click another quest in the objective tracker

When you do this, it will open to the first quest rather than the second. However, if you click another quest in the tracker, it switches between them properly.
