LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v70100-1.0.0-2016-10-26
by: Cladhaire [More]

The last date of comment parsing is now part of the addon's filename.

Includes over 166,198 comments for more than 15,560 quests

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Update for new parsing script

Thanks to lunarwtr we're able to parse again, since I didn't have time
to fix the previous parser. This required some changes to the addon, but

Fix LH waypoint set integration

- We now are able to properly reverse WowHead mapFileIds to the in-game
areaIds, so waypoints should be set in the correct zone.
- We don't know how to set a waypoint in an instanced zone, so we just
put those in the current zone
- Integration with MapNotes, Cartographer and friends always set in the
current zone.

Downloaded the Beta and tried it tonight. Everything seems to be working. Only bug I encountered was mentioned by Soulreaper, the LH window pops up at "seemingly random" times.

So far It seems to happen when either of two things occur:

1. doing any quest with a "kill or gather" a number of items, beasts. Each time the "completion count" of the items gathered/killed updates, the LH window pops up.

2. when the closer/nearest TomTom waypoint changes

Maybe something to do with updating the POI information?

Ty for the update to this wonderfully helpful.

A few bugs:

LH keeps popping up VERY often for no reason.

Unable to attatch the LH window to the quest log window so LH closes when the QL closes.

I can't seem to find the option to scale LH to fit the size of the quest log. That may be because I'm using an addon so I can use the old one. Still, it would be helpful if we could scale the LH window like we used to be able to.

Those are the only two things I can come up with atm.

Once again, I do love this addon. I know it's a Beta build. Keep up the great work !

Thank you for update

Thank you, very much, for continuing to work on this, especially when you had asked for others to take over. I've dl'd the beta from the 'other files' section, and will be testing it with my guild's lower level 'reboot' toons.

Please take it for a spin and see if it works (especially with new instanced maps, Deathknight start zone, etc.) since I've got a trial account so I'm limited with what I can test at the moment. I'll probably promote this to a stable version in a few days, since I've tested it and it seems to work quite well in leveling a new character.

Good to hear as i've been using this addon since I started playing back in 2008. This has been very helpful when the quest isn't clear about locations etc.

I'm waiting to hear back from Cladhaire regarding participating in project as well. I've created some parsers over the weekend and updated the data on my local copy. Seems to work well. The addon itself is still pretty solid. Only had to make a couple bug fixes to the code that interfaces with the continent & zone mapping calculations.

There isn't an easy answer to that question, I had to change quite a lot and I honestly don't recall what we have now. I think it's possible that AdjustGUIParent() just needs to be updated, but I do not know off the top of my head.
